Introduction
I have chosen to talk about a very iconic pop artist. Namely Michael
Jackson, also known as the king of pop. Ive chosen him because I think he
has lived a very abnormal life and while you may like his music many of
you may see him as a bit of a freak. I find this very intriguing and thats
why I would like to shed some light over his abnormal life.
Growing up as a Jackson
Michael joseph Jackson was born august 29, 1958. He was the eighth of
ten children in his family. He grew up in a 2-bedroom house in Gary,
Indiana. When growing up, Michael had a troubled relationship with his
father Joseph Joe Jackson. In 2003 the father even admitted to have
regularly whipped Michael as a boy. He also admitted to verbally abusing
his son saying things like you have a fat nose. Michael was both
physically and emotionally abused in rehearsals and tours, though he said
that this was also a reason for his success. Michaels youth was lonely and
isolated, and this lead to Jacksons deep dissatisfaction with his
appearance, his chronic nightmares and sleep problems, his tendencies to
be completely compliant and also his child like behaviour throughout his
entire life.
Jackson 5
It all began when Young Michael at the age of 6 joined Jackson 5, a band
that consisted of the brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael,
Jackson. Michael shared the lead singer role with his elder brother. The
father Joe Jackson was very controlling and pushed the young brothers
toward success. After playing and winning in a talent show at Theodore
Roosevelt high school in 1966, Joe Jackson the father continued to enter
the brothers in 2 more talent shows, which resulted in the Jacksons
winning them both. In November 1997 the Jackson 5 signed a contract
with steel town records where they released 2 singles big boy and we
dont have to be over 21. During early 1968, the brothers also performed
at strip clubs to earn some extra money for Joe the father. After playing as
an opening band for bobby taylor & the vancouvers, an impressed taylor
sent the jacksons to Detroit in an effort to help them get an audition with
the Motown record company. After taping the audtion it was sent to
Hollywood where the CEO of motown Berry gordy had his office. After
hearing the audition Gordy requested the group to be signed in Hollywood,
hiring Suzanne de pass to become their mentor. When the jackson 5
released and performed their first single I want you back which was
written by Motown they made their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan
show. In December they released their debut album Diana Ross presents
the jackson 5, shortly after, the single I want you back hit the top 100
bilboard in January 1970. After this the group continued to release hit
singles written by motown reaching the top and being called a cuttingedge example of black crossoverbands.

Solo career
In the early 1970 he began his solo career as a teen artist. Releasing some
of the most well known music to this date. In 1982 Michael released the
album thriller, which became the most sold album in US history, and in
1983 he released the thriller music video to accompany it. The fourteenminute video was so well received people said it defined music videos
and broke racial barriers. In 2009 the video was selected to join the
national film registry, meaning it was of great importance to the American
culture and that it would be preserved for all time. In 1983 he also did his
first on stage performance of Billie jean, debuting the white glove and the
moonwalk, which would later be one of Michaels signature moves. In 1984
during a Pepsi commercial, pyrotechnics accidentally set Michaels hair on
fire while he was performing on stage in front of a crowd. The accident led
to second-degree burns to his scalp and Michael underwent surgery to
hide the scars, this was also when Michael did his 3rd rhinoplasty surgery, a
type of plastic surgery for his nose. The first 2 times he had a nose job
where because of an injury where he broke his nose. This 3rd time was to
correct breathing and aesthetics of the nose. But this was just the
beginning of a series of facial surgeries.
Neverland
Neverland was opened 1988 and was both Michaels private amusement
park and his home. He named it after an island in Peter-pan, which is said
to be his favourite fictional Disney character. In neverland you could find
everything from roller coasters to zoo animals like elephants. While
neverland was open Michael opened the doors for children to stay and
enjoy all the rides and zoo animals. This led to future accusations of
Michael molesting children. After police investigations Michael decided to
close the park saying that the police had ruined the park when searching
for evidence and investigating. The park was shut down 2006.
The kids
Michael had 3 kids, prince Michael Jackson 1, Paris-Michael Jackson, Prince
Michael Jackson 2. However Michael the first is referred to as prince and
Michael the second is called blanket. He is called blanket because of an
expression in the Jackson family, to blanket somebody, meaning to cover
or blanket somebody with love. Michael was called a bad father after
certain events where he put his children in danger and also because of the
way he raised them. The kids where home-schooled because Michael
didnt want them to be treated differently because of his fame. Prince and
Paris mother is Debbie Row however the mother of blanket has yet to be
revealed.
This is it
The death of Michael Jackson came as a chock to many, but for those close
to him it was obvious that his body was collapsing. This is it was
announced in March 2009 as a series lf comeback concerts. The shows
would be Michaels first major tour since 1997, and would be the final
curtain call of his career. The plan was to have 10 shows in London,
followed by shows in Paris, New york and Mumbai. In just two hours 1

million tickets had been sold. The show was going to start July 13 2009
and finish on March 6 2010 but Jackson passed away suffering cardiac
arrest on June 25 2009.
Analysis
I believe the song is about breaking up with your girlfriend and wanting
her back. Young Michael sings about seeing his lost love with a new
boyfriend and that he was blind in letting her go.
