What is CFC Kids for Christ?

CFC Kids for Christ (KFC) is a family ministry of Couples for Christ (CFC). It is a means of supporting
CFCs mission of bringing families back to the plan of God through programs and activities that would
assist the parents in fulfilling this mission.
As a response to Jesus call, the ministrys task is to:
Help the children enjoy a relationship with Jesus Christ in a manner that is fun and life giving in the
company of their friends.
Create an atmosphere where Christian values can be shared, practiced, developed, and
experienced.
CFC Kids for Christ aims to provide a Christian support environment for kids between the ages of 412 yrs old. We have set programs for the Junior Kids, those of ages 4 to 8 and the Senior Kids, those of
ages 9 to 12. Realizing that a program for kids needs to be simply understood, exciting and fun-filled.
A. What KFC is and what KFC is not
KFC is...
...A place where Christian values taught by the parents are shared, practiced, experienced, and
reinforced within a peer group environment.
...A place where the children have fun, knowing they have friends.
...A place where they feel they belong, just as their parents belong to CFC, their older brothers and
sisters belong to YFC or SFC, their aunts in Handmaids of the Lord, or their uncles to Servants of the
Lord.
KFC is not...
...An outreach of CFC, but an integral part of its life and mission; service in KFC is just as essential
and important as service in CFC and in the other ministries.
...A formal school, where basic academic lessons are taught.
...A day-care center where parents can leave their children while attending to other activities.
B. The KFC Logo

Being a ministry of Couples for Christ, the CFC Kids for Christ logo assimilates some important elements of
the CFC logo as well.

The Cross - symbolizes Christ

The dove - symbolizes the Holy Spirit communicating the characteristics of the ministry as Christcentered and Spirit-filled.
The group of children holding hands around the cross - symbolizes unity with one another and
oneness with Jesus. In KFC, our childrens God-given gifts and talents are recognized and nurtured in
an environment of fun, friendship, faith, and freedom.
The rainbow colors symbolizes the hope that kids bring for the future.

What does KFC believe in?

A. KFC 4Fs principle
KFC believes that to be able to build an attractive environment to the kids, the program should have
the Four Fs principle:
Fun
o It is fun. Activities are enjoyable and they stimulate the childs creativity, perception, and
sensitivity.
Friendship
o It is built on friendship. Activities that encourage the members to build strong friendships.
Faith
o It enhances faith. Activities are geared towards their relationship with God. Christian faith
elements are explained in kids language.
Freedom
o It allows free but responsible expressions.
B. Philosophy of KFC

Children are a real gift from the Lord. They are a real blessing. Psalm 127:3
CFC Kids for Christ believes that

Children have a special place in Gods heart

Children can grow in their love and trust for God through meaningful relationship with parents and
peers
The pre-teen stage of a childs life is crucial formative years and that Christian values and attitudes
can be absorbed and imbibed during these years
Children need a healthy concept of themselves, which may be enhanced by their parents acting
as primary role models and also by secondary role models from Kids for Christ
Childrens God-given talents need to be recognized and nurtured in a healthy Christian
environment that is fun-loving and life giving

What are KFCs Programs?

In order to achieve the goals of KFC, we aligned the KFC programs to the ministry goals. The programs hope
to effect individual, family, and social renewal, backed with a strong support system for each program through
mission support.
1. KIDS EVANGELIZATION PROGRAM
The aim of this program to make Jesus the most exciting person in the lives of the kids.
Components of the Kids Evangelization Program:
A. Kids Camp / Kids Day
As mentioned earlier, all children of CFC members can be automatically considered as members of
KFC. However, they are acknowledged as full-fledged members of KFC after joining the Kids Camp.
There are two types of Kids Camp programs, depending on the age range of the child. Below are brief
descriptions of the two types of camps. It will be further discussed in a separate talk.
Senior Kids Camp - This is a one-and-a-half-day camp for senior kids whose ages range from 9 to
12 years old. (A separate manual is available).
Junior Kids Day - This is a 4-hour activity for junior kids whose ages range from 4 to 8 years old.
(A separate manual is available).
B. Monthly KFC Sessions
The KFC sessions will be held once or twice a month, depending on the circumstances and
requirements of the children being served. All children of CFC members aged 4 to 12 years old are
automatically members and are encouraged to attend these sessions regularly. Attending the
Senior Kids Camp or the Junior Kids Day is not a prerequisite for attending these sessions. This is
discussed further in the Couple Coordinators Training Module.
C. KFC Ambassadors
KFC Ambassadors are hand-picked KFC members in the sector, province, or country that are trained
to be speakers and models for other kids to emulate. They will be expected to lead at least 3 KFC
activities that will become their projects. They will be KFC ambassadors for at least a year.
D. Crossover
When kids turn 13 years old, there should be a smooth transition from KFC to YFC.
Crossover program ensures that there will be a YFC chapter that will receive them.

The KFC

E. Kids Praise
Kids are taught songs of praise and worship in the most creative way. The songs are animated
through actions that symbolize the message. Kids are also molded to be more prayerful through Kids
praise. Songs help kids to know Jesus more and making Him more personal in their lives.
2. FAMILY ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
This program aims to provide opportunities for families to be closer to God and to each other.
KFC hopes to enhance the relationship of parents to children. This is in response to CFCs mission of
Building the Church of the Home. We are not only concerned of what the kids gets from the kfc activities, but
also in how the parents respond to what we teach the kids. If we teach the kids about loving the environment
through waste segregation, the parents must also be able to reinforce this teaching at home. We also give
opportunities to have bonding memories through the following activities:
A. Father and Son Bond Camp
6

The Bond Camp is an overnight activity for both father and son. They go through activities that will allow them
to open up and share things about themselves. It is also a fun filled weekend, full of games and challenges
designed for men.
B. Mother and Daughter Camp
This camp gives both mother and daughter a chance to deepen their friendship. They will also discuss topics
that will enrich their understanding as a daughter of God.
C. Family Ties
This a camp activity with the whole family, including siblings who are in yfc or sfc. TIES means Together In
Every Situation. The whole family goes through exciting obstacle courses and other camping activities that will
surely bring all family members closer to each other and to the Lord.
D. Parents Support Team
a group of parents helping out the KFC ministry achieve its goals. They receive teachings about Christian
parenthood and share how to approach common concerns about their children.
3. SOCIAL RENEWAL PROGRAM
This program aims to build a movement for kids that will make an impact in renewing the society.
Kids can make a big difference. It is inspiring to see how little children help build a better society. The
following are the programs of KFC that gives kids the opportunity to show the rest of the world that there is no
one too small to help renew the society:
The components of the KFC social renewal programs:
A. Batang Bayani
This is KFCs response to the communitys call of BUILDING THE CHURCH
OF THE POOR. We have several Batang Bayani Villages all throughout the
Philippines.

B. Batang Business
Promotes the values of stewardship, creativity, and perseverance, all geared towards Nation Building.

C. Batang Kalikasan
Concerned to Protect, Preserve and Nurture the environment. We teach kids how to appreciate nature,
plant trees, segregate their trash, recycle, and save energy.

D. Batang Media Promotes and contributes to the intellectual, social, cultural and spiritual growth of the
children through media. It advocates responsible use of modern day technology like television, cell
phones, internet and other gadgets.

E. Batang Malakas - An advocacy for developing healthy habits in kids for a strong mind and body. Kids
are taught to exercise, eat their vegetables, and study well.

F. Heroes Camp This activity will introduce the different advocacies of KFC. In this camp, they will
learn how to be instruments of change for the renewal of society. By letting them understand what it means to
be a hero, they will be empowered to love the poor, to love the country, and to love the environment.
Note: These programs mostly apply in the Philippine setting. For the international areas, it is important to
adjust to what is relevant to the needs of your area.
4. MISSION SUPPORT PROGRAM
This program aims to organize necessary manpower, training, or resources to spread and intensify the work of
KFC.
This goal is all about bringing the missionary spirit into the KFC programs. There are a lot of territories to
conquer. There are a lot of kids out there that need to know the Lord. There are areas that have KFC but are
not updated with what is new. There are chapters who do not have YFC facilitators and schools who do not
have program volunteers. The following training programs and missions help us answer to these needs:
A. Couple Coordinators Training a series of training programs that aim to equip CFC to handle the KFC
program with the proper posture and approach.

physically or mentally challenged. There is a special manner in evangelizing these kids. We also aim to
provide a support environment to bridge the gap between them and the regular kids.

email blasts, website development and other media. Its role is to package KFC to an attractive ministry.

1. In the Communities

This program is mostly for the children of CFC in the different chapters. Parents bring their kids to the
monthly sessions of KFC and communicate with the Couple Coordinator for feedback of their childs progress
or concerns. The Community based area includes the parishes, subdivisions/villages, and the baranggays
(major city/town area grouping).
2. In Schools
KFC School Based
Since kids spend a lot of their time in school, KFC has responded to the call to be in the school by
means of a club. CFC KFC brings children to an awareness of Gods beautiful plan for their lives that is
nurtured by love in the family and supported by good friends in the school. This prepares the kids to claim the
bright future that God has for each of them. Its program is designed to help young children ages 6-12 years old
(grades 1-7) in their total Christian formation. Varied activities are steered by the Four-F principles [Fun,
Friendship, Faith & Freedom].
3. In the Mission Core
10

Mission Core Kids

Many of the children of the Mission Core Members are not integrated into the KFC chapters. This is
because many of the MC members are either at the cluster leadership or involved in a special service like the
Social ministries, other Family Ministries, or in Gawad Kalinga. Every time that there is a MC gathering, we
group the kids have an activity for them.
4. In the Gawad Kalinga sites
GK Based
Sagip and Sibol kids are KFC members that reside in the Gawad Kalinga Sites. We bring down our
KFC programs to them in coordination with the GK Child and Youth Development (CYD) coordinator.

What are KFCs big events?

A. International Kids Village (IKV)

hose bath, and the Kids Praise Parade.
B. Mid-Year Provincial Kids Village/ Metro Manila Big Sector Conference
A mid-year gathering of kids either by province or big sector area filled with activities that are fun and
exciting with a light pastoral content given in kids language.
C. Country / Region Kids Villages
There are Kids Villages held in different parts of the world. The event is usually an echo of what
transpired in the International Kids Village.
