KELLY REEMTSEN

The paintings for Kelly Reemtsen are

elaborate depictions of the role of the
modern day woman.
Strikingly
feminine at first glance, with their
figures adorned in fashionable vintage
designer dresses and runway-worthy
accessories, Reemtsens women are not
simply pinup girls or arm candy. Rather,

the women, while dressed to the nines,

undertake household, and often
traditionally masculine, tasks. The
objects that they hold, from dishrags to
wrenches to even chainsaws, range
from being domestic to borderline
menacing, and yet, as a body of work,
answer the question as to the proper
role of the contemporary woman.
Reemtsens answer to that is quite
simple anything! Anonymous torsos,
the
women
remain
beautiful
representations of the female with
which anyone can identify.

his subjects are pictured in
morbid situations.

LAURA MAKABRESKU

Laura Makabresku (born in 1987; lives

in Krakow) is a Polish visual artist and
photographer. Her photographs are
overflown with mystic symbols close to
the surrealistic aesthetics, she creates
visual methaphores concerning
eroticism and death.

My photographies are like screenshots

from beautiful but cruel fairy tales.
Their narrations are not straight. Images
that appear are more like feelings that
come during a lecture of an old folkbased story. The structure of my works
is similar to the structure of a dream
where natural tendencies of collecting
and
organizing
impulses
and
motivations coincide with irrational
clashes of objects and feelings. Isolation
divide beastillness from humanity and
dreams from horror.Laura Makabresku

ELISA SCASCITELLI

Elisa Scascitelli (born in 1989, lives in

the world of fairy tales). Her
photographs are characterized by
dreamlike scenes and childish personas,
full of wonder and magic, which, at the
same time, carry you inside a
nightmare, where horror and death reign
supreme.

My work has a structure similar to a

dream. There is a character between two
worlds, where the charm and innocence
are intertwined with the macabre, and
with strange spells and sorcery. The
photos are inhabited by people
apparently normal, childhood objects
that open the doors to the mysterious
territories. Dark corners and cold,
humid, only the tents provide shelter
and safety in the woods and from these
places. The whole thing is wrapped in a
veil of tranquility, as if everything was
normal as possible, creating a strong
visual impact. Elisa Scascitelli
