Tid Bits of Wisdom

From the Wonderful Word Publishers

February & March 2016

Ps 119:11
Thy word have I hid in mine
heart, that I might not sin
against thee.

The Bible is not dessert
for the weekend; it is bread for
seven days of the week (Bro.
Raymond Barber). How true.
We need the Word of God daily
to keep a strong spirit.

This year has already
seemed to be a challenge for
reading daily. You may have
battled to keep the Word of God
in its place in your life also. It is
a battle we must win. We cannot
be prepared for the winds, rain
and storms we may face in days
to come if we do not stay in Gods
Word daily.

If you did not get your
name to us, but you did read
through your Bible this year,
please send us your name and we
will put it in the next paper.

TID BITS MONTHLY

REPORT

This paper is our second paper since we changed the format and the
printer. We want to begin with saying that Legacy Printing has given us 9 years
of printing. That amounts to about $90,000 worth of printing. We realized sometime ago that printing the paper was becoming a real burden to the printer. He
was keeping his word to our son because he promised to always print our paper.
God began to make us uncomfortable about our printers struggle, plus for a long
time we have needed to expand our outreach and we didnt have the liberty to do
that. For two months we just didnt produce a paper. As we began the change
we became aware of just how much the printer had done for us through the years.
We went to several businesses and got quotes. It was thousands each month. Our
budget has been around $500 a month (most all that is postage).

Bro. Larry and Mrs. Judy Connor have wanted to print the paper from
the very beginning and would do it free of charge, with us providing the material.
The only problem was they could not print colored pictures. Colored pictures
are very expensive. We finally decided to just put color on the front page and
put all pictures in black and white. Just as we made this decision, we received a
call from a friend who has a business and he is making it possible to have a page
with colored pictures. God has so encouraged our hearts concerning this paper.
We will need a good increase in support if this works. We asked the Lord if He
was pleased with the change to please let some new people contact us. People
whom we had not received from before. The first week, two families sent gifts,
and the next week two more families sent gifts. There was no promise of monthly
support, but we were encouraged that God put it in the heart of these people to
respond.

Why support this little paper? We send close to 2,000 homes a month.
Many people never pick the paper up, but many do. Almost every month someone calls to tell us that one of the articles was just what they needed. The paper
had come at just the right time. Many laid it aside and then picked it up later and
it was just what they needed at that moment. Have you ever needed to be encouraged. This last month God caused many things to happen that were just what we
needed to encourage us and we want to be there to encourage others. Anyone
can receive this little paper at no charge because ten people monthly support this
work. Would you ask the Lord if He would want you to support Tid Bits of Wisdom on a monthly basis. A twenty-five dollar gift monthly will mail 100 papers.
Fifty-dollars monthly will mail 200 papers. Well write it, you send it and God
will bless it. Others will be ministered to and you dont have to leave home!

To you who have supported us all these years, your faithfulness has been
wonderful. Many have been served by your gifts. To all our readers, God bless
you as we serve together.

FUNNY, ISNT IT
Funny how tiring it is to serve God for one hour, but how quickly a team plays
sixty minutes of basketball.
Funny how long a couple of hours spent at church are, but how short they are
when watching a movie.
Funny how we cant think of anything to say when we pray, but how easy it is
to chat with a friend.
Funny how thrilled we get when a baseball game goes extra innings, but we
complain when a sermon is longer than usual.
Funny how we want a front seat at a game or concert but scramble to get a back
seat at church.
Funny how we need a two-or-three-week notice to fit a church event into our
schedule, but can adjust our schedule at the last minute for other events.
Funny how big one hundred dollars looks when you take it to church, but its so
small at the mall.
Funny how hard it is to read a chapter in the Bible, but how easy it is to read
one hundred pages of a best-seller.
Funny how hard it is for people to learn a simple plan of salvation, but how
simple it is for the same people to understand and repeat gossip.
Funny how we believe what the newspaper says, but question what the Bible
says.

PREACHING SUGGESTION
All public speakers can learn from this true story.
There are certain tribes in Africa that demand that when a man
rises to speak, he must stand on one foot while delivering his
speech. The minute the lifted foot touches the ground, the
speech ends -- or the speaker is forcibly silenced.

always prayed with those that came to me and I was able to see God do
great things through our prayers. That built me up in the faith. True Christian counseling profits all who are involved.

I do know how Moses felt. When I began teaching women, my
phone rang all day and many times my family was frustrated with me.
There was no end to the needs. Where do you stop? Mosess father in law
had the answer.

Moses was teaching the people Gods statutes and His laws. The
answer was not to stop teaching but to find ABLE MEN (in my case it was
able women), who FEAR GOD; MEN OF TRUTH; and HATING COVETOUSNESS; and place them over others. Many of the women that God
brought to my life were women God was going to use to become counselors themselves. As we worked through their needs, they got a burden
to help others. Today, many of those women call me to ask counsel about
how to counsel some other woman.

THE BEST FOR ME

I do not know what next may come

Across my pilgrim way.
I do not know tomorrows road
Nor see beyond today;
But this I know, my Savior knows
The path I cannot see,
And I can trust His wounded hand
To guide and care for me.
I do not know what may befall
Of sunshine or of rain
I do not know what may be mine
Of pleasure and of pain;
But this I know, my Savior knows
And whatsoever it be,
Still I can trust His love to give
What is best for me.
So in His will I want to stay
So he can guide me day by day.
Jim & Janelle Coleman - Tid Bits of Wisdom readers

I began teaching women at Miller Road Baptist Church in 1968.
Most of the ladies were older than I. They knew I was young and green,
therefore, they relaxed about their own ignorance and we learned together.
I still see and hear from many of those ladies today. Each one has had
their own ministry all these years and together we have been able to touch
many more lives. The ladies that have learned to seek God for themselves
still call me from time to time just to share the sweet things they have witnessed while counseling others. Oh, they also asked for themselves from
time to time, because the Scripture says there is safety in counsel.
Prov 11:14
Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is
safety.
KJV

Those who live what they believe, prosper. It is not enough to just
believe. You must apply that belief in a manner that pleases God. Many
times we do the right thing with the wrong attitude or the wrong motive,
and then we do not get the right results. A godly counselor can point out
your error and help you to become profitable. But remember, if they are
not seeking Gods word, they are not a Christian counselor. If you are not
there to hear from God, your motive is wrong and youre wasting time.

WHAT IS
CHRISTIAN COUNSELING?

If you have been reading through your Bible, it has not been long
since you read about the life of Moses. Exodus 18:13-27 gives a wonderful example of Christian counseling.

Mosess father-in-law had brought Mosess sons and his wife to
him in the wilderness. While there, he saw Moses sit to judge the people.
Moses sat there from morning unto the evening. There was no end to the
peoples needs and it was going to wear Moses down. His father in law
ask him what he was doing. Moses said that the people were coming for
him to INQUIRE OF GOD.

Step one in Christian counseling is to Inquire of God. If the person coming, or the person counseling, does not begin by inquiring of God,
then it is not Christian counseling. If the counselor is just there to give
their opinion, or the person coming for counsel is just wanting to let off
steam, then it is not Christian counseling.

My counseling days began when I started reading through my Bible and searching to know God and His word. My friends would see me
finding my answers and they would come and want me to help them find
their answers. Next thing you know, I was counseling full-time while trying to be a wife, mother and homemaker. It was not unusual to get 30 or
more calls a day. People who love God are hungry to know the heart of
God concerning their lives. This kind of counseling blesses the counselor
as well the one being counseled. I learned so much by seeking answers for
others. It prepared me for the time I might be in the same situation. I

KEEP OUR MEN IN THE CHAIR OF
THE OVAL OFFICE!

As a woman you might think it strange of me to ask you not to put a
woman in the chair of the Oval office, but I feel very strongly about this subject.

Woman has been given a mighty responsibility in being the tree of life
and the fruit bearer of the family. There is no greater job than being an help
meet to mankind. This is what Jesus was and is to us. It was Jesus who left
all to humble himself to be one of us and by example He taught us how to live
and how to be joined to God the Father. His work makes everything work to the
glory of the Father. Womans work does the same thing for the husband if she
follows Jesus example. Can a woman do the work of a president? Woman can
do anything man can do with the exception of having seed. Man can do anything
woman can do, with the exception of birthing a child. Its a known fact she has
the ability, but does it edify and if it does, who does it edify?
1 Cor 10:23
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful
for me, but all things edify not.
KJV

The man is the head and ordained of God to lead. God will lead through
man and not through woman. As smart as woman might be, God works through
man, not woman, when it comes to leadership. We have good men, lets use them.
Isa 3:12
As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my
people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

THE GREATEST
LOVE
RELATIONSHIP

After His death came the three days and nights in the grave. This
proved He was dead and that He would patiently wait for the Fathers leading. He waited for Gods approval.

Are you searching for a love relationship that will give you security and fill that lonely feeling that sweeps over you from time to time?
Well, there is only one love relationship that you can trust to never do you
damage and to fill that loneliness. That is a love relationship with the Lord
Jesus Christ.
John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
KJV

The Lord Jesus Christ agreed to come to earth as a man and live a
life that would be an example to all of us. He then agreed to allow man to
hang Him on the cross. Man did not kill Jesus! They wanted to, but the
fact is that no one could kill Jesus. As He hung on that cross He surrendered His Spirit to the Father and died so He could provide eternal life for
us. Had He been made to die, we would not have felt loved.
John 10:17-18
Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it
again.
No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down,
and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my
Father.
KJV

Loving someone is a choice. Love cannot be forced on anyone.
Real love is freely given. Jesus was not made to do the work of redemption. He chose to do it. He was tempted of Satan, rejected of man and
lived a very simple life, all because He loved us.
6

But then came resurrection. The suffering was over and the work
began.

There was a reason for Jesuss death, burial and resurrection. Every step was necessary in order for Him to become our Redeemer.

Jesus tells us that we are to love our brethren as He loved us. When
someone is willing to put their lives on the line to stand by you, then you
know that you are loved! When they are willing to stay in the grave until
God approves their offering and says they can come forth, then you will
know that they are a person who totally depends upon God for the leading
of their life. After God says they can come forth, then begins the overcoming life, the life of victory.

This is the kind of love that everyone looks for and longs for. If
you start with Jesus, then should man disappoint you, you always have the
foundation of the Lords love to fall back upon. If you begin with man,
then you have no foundation to stand upon. You may say, I dont know
anyone who loves this way. You missed the point. Jesus didnt say I
hope you find this kind of love, He said I want you to give this kind of
love. We must die to self, wait upon the Lord and then walk and
live in Victory. Its more blessed to give than to receive!
