Entering Students

Per new Texas state legislation, and


beginning Jan. 1, 2012, all Texas
college students (new or transfer) must
receive a vaccination or booster
against bacterial meningitis.

UPDATE As of October 1, 2013,


students 22 years of age or older are
not required to file the exemption or
show proof of the vaccination.

Use IRS Data Retrieval Process (file taxes early)

Scholarships?

Apply to TWU through the Apply Texas application at


https://www.applytexas.org/
Wait approximately 3 days for your application to be
downloaded and TWU to assign ID#.
Next Step -create your Pioneer Portal
Account. https://portal.twu.edu/default.asp
After you create your Portal Account, go to
www.twu.edu/scholarships and apply for scholarships.
Complete General Application and Recommended
Opportunities.

dates. Financial aid applications

considered on a funds-available basis.

What is Available to Students Who Are Not


U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residence?

May apply for scholarships by submitting


the Scholarship Application by the March
15 deadline.
May apply for the TPE Emergency Loan
to cover your minimum TWU payment if
you do not have funds to cover the
minimum payment.
International students and students
covered under Texas House Bill
1403/Senate Bill 1528 may apply for
certain types of Texas State aid. More
information can be found at

What Happens After I Submit


My Forms?

You will receive periodic notices sent


to your TWU e-mail account listing
missing documents or information.
You may refer to your Pioneer
Portal for financial aid application
and award status.
After you have submitted all
applications and documents, the
Financial Aid Team will review your
financial aid eligibility.
You will be awarded financial aid
for which you are eligible on a
funds-available basis.

What Happens After Im


Awarded Financial Aid?

An e-mail will be sent to your TWU


e-mail account notifying you that you
have a financial aid award.
Follow the instructions to view and
accept or reject your awards through
the TWU Pioneer Portal.
If you want to reduce the amount of
a loan or other award:
Print the award letter
Mark the changes on the award
letter
Send the signed award letter to
the financial aid office.

What Do I Do if Im Awarded
Loans?

For Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford and


Grad PLUS Loans, go to https://www.studentloans.gov:
Sign the Master Promissory Note
Complete Entrance Loan Counseling

For Parent Loans, the parent must go to:

Complete the PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note

Print and complete the TWU PLUS Request Form
Submit PLUS Request Form to TWU Financial Aid Office

Loan funds cannot be released at the appropriate time unless these


steps have been completed.

How Do I Accept My
Scholarships?

Review your
scholarship awards in
the TWU Pioneer
Scholarship System,
which is accessed via
your Portal.

You must accept your


scholarship both with
Student Life and
Financial Aid.

Paying Your Bill

Visit the Office of the Bursar for


information about creating a quarterly
installment plan, making a payment,
understanding your bill, and meeting
payment deadlines and estimate your
tuition and fees

Be sure to pay by the deadline to avoid


deletion of your course schedule.

Refer to Academic Calendars for term


specific registration and payment dates.

Payment in Full
Full payment must be received prior to the
beginning of term.

Installment Payment Plan


For the Fall, Spring and long Summer semesters
only.
Requires down payment at enrollment with future
monthly installments.
No interest; $15 enrollment fee; $15 late
payment fees

Fall 2015

Online enrollment in the plan is MANDATORY for balances NOT


PAID IN FULL thru the Pay Online link. Bursars Office cannot set up
plan.

25% down payment plus $15 installment fee due at enrollment.


Required by August 26.

Accepted financial aid/scholarships/cash payments applied to down


payment and future payments until depleted.
