Suzuki resigns as principal

at DeSales
Therese Suzuki has officially
resigned
from
her
position as
principal
at DeSales
School. The
move
was
effective Friday, Feb. 5,
for the forTherese Suzuk
mer administrator.
Suzuki began her role as
principal of the Catholic school in

August at the start of the 2015-16
school year.
The DeSales school board
had no comment on the reason
for Suzukis resignation.
The board held a closed
meeting Monday night in Ossian
to determine how best to replace
Suzuki in the near term.
Church officials were not able
to be reached for comment on the
future of the administrative role
at DeSales.

Scholarship, plain and simple, is one of the most prestigious scholarships in the
state of Iowa. Established in
1993 as a tribute to E. Wayne
Cooley, former Iowa Girls
High School Athletic Union
(IGHSAU) executive director of nearly 50 years, the
award is given to an Iowa
girl who exhibits excellent
character on the playing
field, in the classroom, in
her school, and in her community.
The recipient reflects
discipline,
perseverance,
character, citizenship, and
leadership all values that
personified the life and
expectations of E. Wayne
Cooley.
This year, 97 girls were
taken into consideration
for the $15,000 scholarship.
Each Iowa high school is
limited to one nomination
of a girl who meets a strict
criteria of educational- and
athletic-based
requirements.
South Winneshiek senior RaeAnn Klimesh was
one of the nearly 100 Iowa
nominees for the prestigious scholarship, who after
being nominated by athletic
director Bruce Gullickson,
later found out that she was
one of the six finalists for
the scholarship.
With the nomination,
I had to submit an essay, my
high school transcripts, and
four letters of recommendation, admitted the young
Warrior scholar and athlete.
She, along with five
other finalists, recently
met at the IGHSAU offices
in West Des Moines for an
interview to determine the
overall winner of the scholarship.
I think the interview
went very well, shared
RaeAnn, the daughter of
Bob and Connie Klimesh
of Calmar. I received a call
later that day, informing me
that I had won. I was so excited, I couldnt believe it!
The requirements to
even be considered for the
Cooley Scholarship are
quite time-consuming and
rigorous, but Klimesh met
and far exceeded the outline of requirements for the
award.

throughout her South Winneshiek career.
Another requirement
for the scholarship is a
minimum ACT score of 25.
RaeAnn also exceeded that
requirement with a 33 on
her ACT.
For Klimesh, who plans
to study business at either
Wartburg or Loras, it was
about breaking the family
mold when it came to extracurricular activities.
My older siblings Andy,
Kelsey, and Allison were ac-
tive in music, student government, and speech, she

revealed. I was the first one
to play sports in our family.
Klimesh continues to
be an example in all of the
athletic endeavors she pursues. She has been a member of three State-qualifying
cross country teams, including one that placed third in
Class 2A last year.
She is also a two-time
State track qualifier, with
another promising season

Iowa Newspaper Associations
Convention and Trade Show held
Feb. 3-5 at the Des Moines Marriott
Hotel.

ahead of her this spring.
Her leadership is also something that has prevailed
through her years of athletic participation. Klimesh was a
co-captain on last years cross country team and has garnered many team awards over the past four years in both
sports.
Another important trait that a Cooley Scholarship
winner must exhibit is excellent values in school. Klimesh
has been a member of the National Honor Society since
her sophomore year, and she is also a four-year participant in Students Opposed to Drugs and Alcohol (SODA),
speech, choir, and student government.
The list continues for the scholarship recipient, as
RaeAnn has been in the high school musical for all four
years, including a lead role during her senior year. She also
has been on the Warrior wrestling cheerleading team for
four years, having become the captain this year.
The final area in which a recipient of the E. Wayne
Cooley Scholarship must shine is in the community. RaeAnn has an excellent resume and reputation in the Calmar
and surrounding communities.
Klimesh is a junior member of the American Legion
Auxiliary, as well as a very active member of her parish,
St. Aloysius Church, where she plays piano at Mass. Also
in the community, Klimesh is a member of Christian Family School of Religion (CFSR) and with the Calmar Pool,
where she works as a lifeguard and both coaches and participates on swim team.
I have stayed very busy throughout my high school
years, said Klimesh with a smile. On snow days, when
everything is cancelled, I tend to get a little bored.
RaeAnn will be recognized as the recipient of the
2016 E. Wayne Cooley Scholarship Award winner later this
winter at the Girls State Basketball Tournament in Des
Moines.
I just have to thank all of my coaches, teachers, and
teammates over the past four years, closed Klimesh. I
couldnt do it without all of the people who make up the
South Winneshiek and Calmar communities who have
helped make such a great environment to grow up in.

remember who gave it to
them.
For the very first time,
the Union staff received second place for its Total Newspaper Design. Judges added,

The advertising awards
began with an ad designed
for Shrimptastic, receiving
a third-place award for Fayette Publishing.
In the category Best
Ad Featuring Professional
Service, The Fayette County Union advertising staff
picked up a first-place award
for Bank 1st introducing
Mypics Debt Cards: Welldesigned! A clever bank
promotion with real local
appeal.
In the same category,
the Fayette Publishing staff
received a first-place award
for Palmer Lutheran Health
Centers Rebab Services TigerHawk Pride ad. Judges
commented, The photo is
worth a million words! It
was definitely a favorite, as
the same ad went on to win
Best of Class advertising
at the end of the evening.
In the Best Special Section category, the staff from
Fayette Publishing picked
up first- and second-place
awards for its Soil & Water
Conservation District edition and its Bridal issue, respectively. The judges like
the ads designed to work
well with the Soil issue, as
well as the great selection of
ads in the Bridal issue.
The Fayette County
Newspapers staff received
three awards for ads in the
Best Ad Featuring Agriculture category. They were
honored with first and second places for Crop Production Services advertising
and a third place for Viafield. The first-place Crop
Production Services ad also
went on to win a third-place
honor in the Best of Class
category.
The 2016 Better Newspaper Contest was judged by
the New York Press Association. Approximately 4,200
entries in numerous categories were judged in two daily
and three weekly circulation classes. The evening
ended by honoring The Des
Moines Register as the 2016
Newspaper of the Year.

at his home in rural Hawkeye.

United States Army in 1970
and was stationed in Germany where he worked as
a gunsmith. He was honorably discharged in 1974.
On November 29, 1975,
he was united in marriage
with Mary ODay. The couple remained married for
20 years.
He farmed for many
years on the family farm
and retired in the mid
1990s.
He was a long time
member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye and
Arnold-Rogers Post #312,
American Legion of Hawkeye.
Jerry was an avid hunter, fisherman, anything
that involved the outdoors,
and spending time with
family and friends on the
river at their place in Harpers Ferry. He enjoyed reading, and was very proud
of his grandchildren. Jerry
was able to find friends
anywhere he went and
lived life to the fullest.
Jerry is survived by his
two children, Jacob (Heidi)
Eitel of Hawkeye and Amy
(Matt) Boehm of Elgin;
five grandchildren, Isabell, Lilli, and Blake Eitel,
Abby and Logan Boehm;
two sisters, Carolee (Joe)

Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at
Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, Wisconsin. Donald was born
July 9, 1959 to LeRoy and
Marilyn (Bray) Ellis in Postville, Iowa. He was baptized
and confirmed at the Zion
Lutheran Church in Castalia, Iowa. Donald attended
Postville High School.
Donald was united
in marriage with Angie
Schmitt on January 29, 1983
at Zion Lutheran Church in
Castalia, Iowa, to this union
three children were born,
Chris, Corey and Amber.
Donald worked for weatherization at Northeast Iowa
Community Action Corporation in Decorah, Iowa for
many years. He enjoyed
hunting, fishing, telling
jokes, carpentry, social media and taking care of his
lawn. Most of all, he loved
to spend time with his family, especially his granddaughters.

Harvey Hillesland, age

84, of Decorah, IA, formerly
of Calmar, IA, died on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at the
Ossian Senior Hospice in
Ossian, IA.
Harvey Frederick Hillesland was born on July
26, 1931, the son of Ted and
Lottie (Falnes) Hillesland
near Conover, IA. He was
baptized and confirmed
at the Calmar Lutheran
Church. He attended grade
school at Conover School
and graduated from Calmar
High School in 1949. Harvey farmed for twenty years
on the Flaskerud family
farm and moved to Calmar
and purchased Calmar Oil,
and operated it until 1993,
when he retired. Harvey

the Year
The Rev. Donald
Hawes, who until 2015
served as the priest for
St. Aloysius Church in
Calmar and St. Wenceslaus Church in Spillville,
was
recently
named the Fraternalist
of the Year by the National Catholic Society
of Foresters (NCSF).
The award is given
annually to an NCSF
member who has given
notable service to the
organization and his or
her community. Rcipients lead by example
and provide volunteer
service to their court,
the Society, and their local community.
At the time of his retirement, Father Hawes
was the second-oldest
pastor in the Archdiocese of Dubuque behind only Monsignor
Cletus Hawes, his older
brother, by two years.

84, of Morgantown, WV,
formerly of Ottawa, died on
Monday, February 1, 2016 at
the Vidant Medical Center,
in Greenville.
Funeral services will
be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday,
February 10, at the Trinity
Lutheran Church in Ottawa,
with Rev. David Ufkes, Pastor, officiating. Burial will
follow at Oakwood Memorial Park with Full Military
Rites conducted. Visitation
will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on
Tuesday, February 9, at the
Mueller Funeral Home in
Ottawa.
Bud was born on May
6, 1931 in Ossian, IA, to Nanfred John and Sylvia (Forde)
Sand. He married Carol
Amundson on December 27,
1958 in Morris. Bud served in
the US Navy during the Korean War as a Petty Officer
Sea Bee, stationed in San Diego and Guam. He received
his Bachelors Degree in
Secondary Education from
Luther College in Decorah,
IA and Masters Degrees in
History and Guidance Counseling from Northern Illinois
University. He taught History, and was a Guidance
Counselor at OTHS for over
30 years, and was also a
wrestling coach. Bud was a
member of Trinity Lutheran
Church, Kiwanis Club, Illinois Teachers Association
and the National Teachers
Association.
He is survived by his
wife, Carol, 3 children, Kari
(Dave) Sand-Jecklin, of Morgantown, WV, Krista (Eric)
Iverson, of Ottawa, and John
(Alyssa) Sand, of Jacksonville, NC, 11 grandchildren, 8
great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Richard Sand, of California, and Jacob Sand of Henderson, NV, and 5 sisters,
chester, IA. Grandchildren: Kaia (friend, Jerad

Winger) Humpal, Decorah,
IA; Blake (Megan) Humpal, Charlotte, NC; Kirby
(Ryan) Jipp, Brookfield,

Hope for Recovery, designed for family members

Absent: None.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance to the
Flag, Mayor Green called the meeting to order at
5:00 p.m.
Chris Wiltgen, Joe Kriener Darin Kleve and
Dave Greve, representing a planning committee
that is proposing to create a joint-community
recreation program, explained how they are
anticipating the proposed program to work: a
full time recreation director would be hired to
manage and organize all youth and adult activities for the communities involved, each city involved would be asked to help fund the position,
facilities in each community would be utilized, a
board with representatives from each community would be established to oversee the program.
Discussion between the groups followed. The
Council will give further thought to the matter at
the March 7th meeting before a decision is made
as to whether or not the City will commit to the
joint-community recreation program.
Officer Ward gave the police report.
Mayor Green reported he attended three
meetings during the month which involved the
County's emergency management, the County
Assessor and the proposed joint-community
recreation program.
Meyer made a motion approving the following consent items, January 4, 2016 council
minutes, clerk's reports and the monthly bills,
seconded by Beckman, carried.
Holthaus made a motion approving a building permit for D&L Properties, seconded by
Lienau, carried.
Meyer made a motion to re-appoint Don
Dilaura, as the City's representative, to the Winneshiek County Sanitary Landfill Board, seconded by Beckman, carried.
Lienau made a motion appointing Mayor
Green to serve as the City's representative on the
Tri-Township Fire District Board, seconded by
Langreck, carried.
Holthaus made a motion approving the
Alcohol Beverage Permit renewals for Silver
Springs Golf & Country Club and Coop One
Stop, seconded by Meyer, carried.
Meyer made a motion approving a $100.00
contribution to the 2016 South Winneshiek Post
Prom Event, seconded by Lienau, carried.
Langreck made a motion introducing Reso-
lution #563, a resolution amending section 2.11

Insurance, of the City of Ossian's Employee
Handbook, seconded by Beckman, carried.
The Mayor put the question on the motion and
the following named Council Members voted:
Ayes: Holthaus, Langreck, Beckman, Lienau,
Meyer.
Nays: None.
Thereupon the Mayor declared said motion approved.
The city clerk went over the revenue and
expense figures for the FY17 Budget with the
Mayor and Council. The proposed tax levy is set
at $12.65; down $.18 from the current budget's
levy of $12.84. Larger budget items discussed
included sidewalk repairs, community center
improvements, pickup, street maintenance, park
improvements, summer recreation programs,
cemetery mowing, debt payments and water &
sewer improvements.
Holthaus made a motion setting the public
hearing date and time for the FY17 Budget for
March 7, 2016 at 5:00 p.m., seconded by Meyer,
carried.
Handicapped parking concerns near the Ossian Medical Clinic was discussed. It was concluded improvements to the parking issues will
be addressed when weather permits.
The Council discussed a water issue involving a customer living outside the City's boundaries. The city clerk was directed to contact the
City's attorney on the matter.
Holthaus made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Lienau. Carried. Meeting adjourned
at 7:10 pm.

Agency meeting was called to order by Chairperson Dave Pahlas at 7:00 p.m. on Monday,
January 11, 2016 in the large courtroom at

Calmar awarded block grant

Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) recently awarded the City
of Calmar a Community Development
Block Grant (CDBG) worth $245,000.
The funds, which were made possible by the Citys contribution of
matching dollars, will be used for the
rehabilitation of six owner-occupied,
single-family homes.
Applications for the Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Program will be accepted as long as postmarked before
Thursday, March 3.
The rehabilitation program can assist homeowners with up to $24,999 to
help make repairs to a home. Eligible
homes must meet Iowas Minimum
Housing Standards when the rehabilitation process is complete.
Rehabilitation can include exterior
elements of the home, such as shingles
or siding that are in poor condition, as
well as improvements that will increase

energy efficiency, and, for electrical or
plumbing updates.
To be eligible for consideration, an
applicant must own and live in his or
her home for a minimum of six months,
be income-eligible, and property cannot be located within the 100-year flood
plain in Calmar.
Income eligibility for the applicant
is based on household size and annual
household gross income.
There are also boundaries within
the city limits inside which the home
must be located. To find these specific
boundaries, and for more information
on how to fill out an application, contact

Iowa Foundation for Agricultural Advancement (IFAA).
There are 68 scholarships available to freshmen entering any Iowa two- or four-year postsecondary institution
this fall; 31 scholarships available to current undergraduates attending Iowa State University; one scholarship
available to a graduate student in agronomy; plus an additional three scholarships available to either incoming
freshmen or undergraduates.
Applicants must major in animal science or a curriculum in agriculture or human sciences that is related to the
agriculture industry.

HELP WANTED
Winneshiek County will be accepting applications for the position
of Engineering Tech III until 4:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2016
at the office of the Winneshiek County Engineers Office.
This position will be assigned to the Winneshiek County
Courthouse, Engineers Office, 201 W. Main, Decorah, IA 52101.
Engineer Tech III must possess and maintain a valid drivers
license, attend DOT certification training, testing and recertification.
The starting per-hour age is set by the Collective Bargaining
Agreement between Winneshiek County and the United Electrical,
Radio and Machine Workers of America. New employees must
work a 90-day probationary pay period at 90% of the full base rate.
Job Summary: Perform specialized work in surveying, design
and inspection of roadway projects; oversee construction
of highways, bridges and culverts; interpret blueprints and
specifications for contractors; maintain accurate material and
work logs; laboratory testing; use drafting or CADD instruments
to interpret and plot field survey notes.
Education: Graduation from High School or G.E.D.
equivalent. Associates Degree in a technology field related to
engineering is preferred but not required. Degree of any type
relating to GIS or IT will be beneficial.
Work Experience: Four-years of increasingly responsible
experience in sub-professional engineering work and vocational

girls basketball team continued its cold streak as the
end of the regular season
approaches.
Friday, the Warriors
hosted Upper Iowa Conference foe Starmont in Calmar. The Stars, who were on
a four-game losing streak,
were able to pull away from
the struggling South Winn
team, handing the Warriors
a 51-36 loss at the end of the
contest.
Individual and game
statistics were unavailable
at press time.
The loss dropped the
Warriors to 4-16 on the season.
South Winn played
its final game of the regular season Tuesday night;
however, results and statistics from the mamtchup
against West Central were
unavailable at press time.
Postseason play begins
Saturday for the Warriors
as they will host the Postville Pirates (3-15) in Calmar with tipoff set for 7 p.m.

Boys Districts revealed

The Iowa High School Athletic
Association (IHSAA) has released all
boys high school basketball District
matchups, allowing teams to begin
preparing for postseason play.
South Winneshiek landed in
Class 2A District 7 and will play a
first-round matchup against North
Fayette Valley at 6:30 p.m. Monday,
Feb. 15, in Waukon. The Warriors and
TigerHawks, both members of the Upper Iowa Conference (UIC), went 1-1
against each other in the regular season.
The winner of the opening-round

game will go on to face MFL/MarMac
at Dyersville Beckman on Thursday,
Feb. 18.
On the opposite side of the bracket, Clayton Ridge and Waukon are
featured in the first round, with the
winner advancing to play Dyersville
Beckman.
The finals will be held at 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 23, at West Delaware in
Manchester, with the winner advancing to take on the District 8 champion
on Saturday, Feb. 27, in Dubuque.
The senior members of

the Warrior basketball team
all did their part to help the
team pick up an important
late-season win, 77-62, over
the Starmont Stars in Calmar Friday night.
Mitch Herold could
simply not be contained,
as the senior dropped a
career-high 32 points in the
Warrior victory.
With an all-senior
starting five, the Warrior
boys were able to jump out
to an early lead in the contest.
The Warrior offense
attempted 62 field goals
in the game, including 23
from behind the arc, to take
down the Stars.
To put the icing on
the cake for Herolds stellar night, the senior pulled
down 11 boards to give him
a double-double. He also
had six assists in the contest, a team-high, and converted five three-pointers.
Logan
Schweinefus
and Treyton Jacobsen also
hit the double-digit mark
in scoring, grabbing 14 and
11 points, respectively.

Warriors placed third overall, missing the mark to advance to Regional Duals by
one spot.
Of the five Warriors
that will compete at the
District Tournament Saturday in Jesup, there were
three champions, including
Rodney Schwartzhoff (132),
Landers Kuboushek (195),
and Anthony Emanuel
(220). Also advancing were
runners-up Paxten DeVilbiss (120) and Manning Kuboushek (182).
DeVilbiss picked up a
7-4 decision over MFL/MarMacs Kordell Ducharme in
the semifinal round before
he lost his championship
match to Kaleb Krall of
Wapsie Valley.
Schwartzhoff won, 9-5,
over WVs Conner Brandt
in the 132 pound semifinals
before he held on to beat
Sumner-Fredericksburgs
Carter Matt, 4-3, in the finals.
At 182 pounds, Manning Kuboushek pinned
WVs Riley Little in the first
period before wrestling one
of the most exciting matches of the day in the finals.
After going three rounds,
the scoreboard between
Kuboushek and S-Fs Jestin
Kime still read 0-0, meaning overtime. In sudden
victory overtime, however,

Kime was able to get a takedown to pick up the win.

Reicks early in the first
period in the true secondplace match to secure his
trip to Districts.
At 195 pounds, Landers Kuboushek picked up
his 100th career win by
fall in the semifinal round
with his pin against Jesups
Preston Schaufenbuel. Kuboushek went on to secure
the Sectional championship with a 7-1 decision
over Brock Meyer of S-F.
At 220 pounds, Anthony Emanuel found himself
trailing, 8-0, in his semifinal matchup against S-Fs
Derrick Lenz. A quick takedown, however, followed
by a move that sent the
Cougar wrestler to his back
gave the Warrior senior a
thrilling win to advance
him to the championship
match. In the first-place
match, Emanuel was able
to punch his ticket to Districts after winning a 3-1
decision over Jesups Ryan
Even.

important to work on some
individual areas, get these
five guys ready to compete,
and to make sure they are
wrestling their best on

we just want to prepare and

Last July, a decision

was made by the South
Winneshiek school board
to allow members of the
Turkey Valley cross country program, which lacked
participation, to join forces with the Warrior cross
country program. The decision, which moved South
Winneshiek from Class 1A
to Class 2A, yielded immediate results, including a third-place finish for
the girls team at the State
Cross Country Meet last
fall.
The unification of the
two teams was possible
because of a cooperative
sponsorship, a year-by-year
agreement, of both the
boys and girls programs.
With such an agreement,

South Winn received $350
for each boys participant,
with a $1,200 cap; and $350
for each girls participant,
with a $1,200 cap. Those
amounts are determined by
state law.
Earlier this month, the
South Winneshiek school
board reviewed a request
by the Turkey Valley school
board to extend the agreement for another season.
It is definitely a lot
more work for Coach
(Scott) Conway and I, said
coach Kevin Kearney when
asked if it is realistic for
only two coaches to manage that many runners.
We were lucky enough to
have great leadership from
the upperclassmen to help
out.
When making its decision, South Winneshiek

school board representatives inquired about Kearneys preference as to
whether or not to continue
the partnership.
I know I feel this way,
and I think the kids and
Coach Conway feel the
same way, that now we are a
team, he responded. The
kids from both schools
worked very well together
throughout the season, and
I think they were satisfied.
As a coach, I was very impressed.
The board ultimately
passed the motion, ona
3-0 vote (one member abstained from the vote), to
continue the agreement for
the 2016-2017 cross country
season.
With an estimated 3035 athletes returning next

season, both the Warrior
boys and girls teams will
be competitive threats.
On the girls side, South
Winneshiek loses only one
starting runner (RaeAnn
Klimesh, SW) from last
years third-place team at
the State Meet, including
top-10 State finishers Josie
Kriener, SW; Felicity Taylor,
SW; and Shelby Reicks, TV.
On the boys team, one
senior, Juan Uribe, will depart from the Warriors. Returning with an abundance
of experience, the boys will
look to improve on last
season, which culminated
with sophomore Derek Dietzenbach qualifying for
the State Meet as an individual.

When asked what he hopes
to accomplish when he suits up
for the Cyclones next fall, Lensing was quick to bring the focus to the overall success of the
team.
I want to become a leader
on the team, he shared. We
will have a lot of big goals, but it
will be about steadily improving
and getting to the point where
we can compete for a Big 12 title.
After playing several positions for the Warriors during his
senior season, including tight
end, running back, defensive
end, and linebacker; Carson anticipates playing primarily defense.
I will redshirt during my
first year on campus, explained
the Warrior. Although I was officially recruited as an athlete, I
will play a hybrid position that
will be a mix of an outside linebacker and a defensive end.
With his decision to continue his playing career with
the Cyclones, Lensing became
Coach Ohrts first player to play
DI football. He joins a small list
of former Warriors to participate at the highest level of college football, including Loren
Gerleman (Iowa, 1981-1982) and
Brian Frana (Eastern Illinois,
2000-2002).
I have a lot of people that
helped me get here, closed
Lensing. My parents, coaches,
and teammates deserve the recognition and are the ones who
helped put me in this position.

Carson Lensing, a senior

athlete at South Winneshiek
High School, made it official as
he signed his National Letter
of Intent to join the Iowa State
University football program
next fall.
Wednesday morning, the
first day that high school football players around the country
are officially eligible to sign with
a team, Lensing submitted his
signature to Matt Campbell, the
new head coach of the Cyclones.
After hearing that Campbell was the new coach, I did a
little thinking on my decision,
admitted Lensing, who was the
first player of the recruiting class
to give his verbal commitment
to former coach Paul Rhoads
last summer. When he made
a special effort to come visit me
very soon after he officially became the head coach, my decision was solidified.
Lensing, who was a Class
1A First Team All-State selection
last year, as well as the Class 1A
All-State captain, had 53 total
tackles for the Warriors last year.
The senior also led the team in
sacks, recording seven.
Carson has been great to
have over the past four years,
praised Warrior football head
coach Jason Ohrt. He has been
an amazing teammate and leader. It has been great to watch all
of his accomplishments, and I
wish him all the best.
Lensing, who will study
agribusiness and/or communications at ISU, also generated
interest from schools such as
University of Iowa, Michigan
