Conditions of entry for 2010 BMW Motorrad GS
Challenge
1.
The BMW Motorrad GS Challenge
Nordic 2010 (referred to in the following
as GS Challenge) is an event designed for
motorcycling enthusiasts who wish to
practice or get to know the sporting
challenge of the “GS” experience together
with like-minded individuals. There is
particular emphasis on the fact that this is
not a racing event.

The event is not a timed competition as
such but a test of mastery in which
participants have to undergo tests
requiring a range of physical and mental
skills and motorcycling ability.

Any road licensed BMW Motorrad GS
model can be used by participants entering
the competition (except for the sports
enduro model G 450 X).
5.
A maximum of 40 participants can enter
the GS Challenge: in the case of an
excessive number of subscriptions, lots will
be drawn. There is no entitlement to take
part in the event.
6.
The starting fee is 500 SEK incl. VAT.
7.
The starting fee includes all activities under the
name GS Challenge
8.
Program
The assessment tests are held on Friday
June 18th and Saturday June 19th, the two
riding days. Finals are held on June 20th 2010
The day of departure is Sunday
June 20th 2010.
9.
The final featuring the best entrants from
the various motorcycle classes is held on
the second riding day, Saturday June 19th
2010. Only the best 20 motorcyclists go
through to the final.
Tests are carried out
on standard motorcycles provided by the
organizer.
10.
The event is designed for both hobby
motorcyclists without sporting experience
and experienced riders. Holders of a motor
racing licence (elite licences) are not permitted
to take part.
11.
The GS Challenge does not include timed races
as are common in motor racing.
12.
Participants are offered a number of
different tests at varying levels of difficulty.
13.
Participants can decline to take part in any
test, instead receiving the maximum
penalty score for this test instead.
14.
In order to take part in the competition,
participants must be prepared to subject
themselves and their motorcycles to
challenges which go beyond everyday
motorcycling. This includes dirt and mud
situations as determined by the weather
and as is usual in off-road sports.
15.
The event includes two riding days on
which participants are required to follow a
defined route which is largely asphalted.
Along this route, participants will find a
number of special tests which also act as
check points.
16.
Any medication which may be required is
to be brought by participants according to
personal needs. The organizer does not
accept any responsibility for health risks to
participants arising from participation in the
event. It is up to participants to have their
own state of health checked prior to taking
part.
17.
It is recommended that participants bring a
small rucksack to carry items required
during riding such as the lunch packet.
A camelback (hydration pack) is also
recommended
18.
A GPS are recommended for some tests but
are not mandatory.
19.
Participants are responsible for their own
fuel supply; a filling station is located
approx. 2 km from the event venue.
20.
We recommend the use of road-approved
Endure tyres, for example Continental TKC 80 or
similar.
21.
At the end of the event, there will be an
award ceremony in recognition of the
motorcycle class winners and the overall
winners.
22.
Participants take part in the event at their
own risk. The organizer is only liable for
damage inflicted deliberately or in gross
negligence by the organizer or his vicarious
agents or by breach of primary obligations
or obligations essential to the contract, as
well injury to life, body and/or health.
23.
The undersigned exempts the organizer
fully from all third party claims which may
be made against the organizer due to
bodily or material damage caused by the
participant or vehicles used by the
participant in the course of the event
insofar as such claims are not covered by
the third-party liability insurance of the
organizer. Participants are obliged to
compensate for any damages incurred to
the organizer as a result of the assertion of
such claims. This includes costs of
prosecution.
24.
Participation is only permitted with a
licensed motorcycle in sound technical
condition. The organizer reserves the right
to exclude any vehicle which is in a
questionable technical state.
25.
Only those who have turned 18 and have
full legal capacity at the time of competition
are permitted to enter. Only participants
from the nations listed on the registration
form are admitted.
26.
Participation is only possible if a participant
is in possession of all protective equipment
and holds a valid class A motorcycle
licence.
27.
Only Nordic citizens can qualify for a
place in Team Nordic to participate in
the BMW Motorrad International GS
Trophy 2010 (= participants with nationality from
Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Island)
28.
The highway code is to be adhered to at all
times. Infringements or riding on
unauthorised tracks result in exclusion
from the event. Infringements of the
conditions of entry and endangering of
other participants can also result in a
participant being barred from the event.
29.
If the organizer is entitled to make changes
to the event program or to cancel or
terminate the event due to force majeure or
official directive or for safety reasons, the
organizer is not liable to the participant for
damages in any way; the participation fee
will not be refunded in this case.
30.
Participants consent to any photographs,
films and interviews made in connection
with their involvement in the event being
distributed and published on the radio,
television, internet, print media, books and
by means of photomechanical
reproduction without claim to
remuneration, including publication for
advertising purposes. No personal details
may be passed on to third parties with the
exception of companies belonging to the
BMW Group. If participants wish to lodge
an objection to the processing or use of
their details at a later stage, they may do so
free of charge.
31.
By submitting the registration form,
participants agree to abide by the conditions of
entry. The event is subject to Swedish law only.
32.
If any of these provisions are or become
invalid, the remaining provisions remain
unaffected.
