Political Process Analysis On ViewFinder
When the emcee requested to administrators to come up on the stage before the start of
the program, it was boldly declared and made clear that ViewFinder, as a political process, was
between two different actors-the administration and the students, the former wields superior
power than the other. It is also interesting to note that the SAMAHAN President seated together
with the administrators. The SAMAHAN President who should be representing the students
levelled himself, and spoke in behalf of the administration.
The unoccupied seats in Finster Auditorium gave a glimpse on the level of political
participation of more than 8,000 Atenenans. Barber must be right when he argued that majority
of the people in liberal democracies became passive receivers of the decisions of the rulers,
rather than individuals who actively shape the way in which they will be governed
ICT played a role in the conduct of the said political process. Twitter, a social media, was
used to spread the information of the conduct of the said program, and to generate concern for
the students.
VieFinder showed a fragmented political culture in the University. There was different
beliefs, attitudes that emerged from the students who were present, and to those who did not
attend, and another with the administrators.
Ateneans who were present were more inclined to liberal citizenship in asserting their
rights as a student, and the quality of their service theyre getting from the administration. The
political process was an attempt of the student government to elucidate their claims. Most of the
questions reflect their view as an Atenean.
Atenean identity is hooked in the idea of prestige and comfort, where they dont need to
problematize the tissues in the comfort rooms, avoid line and hassle in enrolling, and stay in
vacant rooms. But the end of issue end on these.

For the student who gave the opening speech, the event was perceived as an avenue to
establish a more harmonious relationship between the studentry and administration. View
Finder is seen by the student government, which she represented, as a process to create social
stability and social control for possible disapproval from the students. For majority of the
students, the event was an opportunity to politically participate in the governing of their lives.
Unfortunately, it didnt fulfil its cause. It only created an illusion that the students have a voice in
this university. But from what transpired, ViewFinder as a political process became a platform
for the administration to justify their actions and impose their created identity to the Ateneans.
