I ntroduction
The gas fire flghting system used fo{ long lirr, seilting the crew's ewoalion tom the
lre !s the top priority Threfore, lhere are two tatal detects. lhe diffrculty in operating the
sysim at early stage of the fre, and the high risk of fatal acidents duo to mlgoperation.
wh:ch have ben created many PrcDlems.
ln dder to solve those p.oblems, the watet mist iire extingu'Eharwas taken hto
onsideratim al the lMO, as a systsm which controls and extinguishesfire al the early
stage wthout afiecling the crew's evacuationand safety
In sntrast to previous sprinkbr systems.thrs systBm embles the exlinguishingof oil tires
effectively by the high c@ling atd asphyxiating afled of sp(aying extremely finely
particulatedwater
The iBlallation ot ihis system, has bn tequired for high fite risk spaces in machinery
area such as lnternal combustbn Main Engine, Auxiliary Eng're, Boilrfronl, incineralors
and pur,fier,of ships construcledor/and after 1st July 2002
Sine the fire extinction with water misl depnds on effecls ot water mist vaporation
controlling th particle sire ot genetaied misl is a sign;fint fadot Smallet misl is not
lo b more elfeclive, but it has bsn clarified from lhrough lesting that the
nessity
adaptabiiity 10 the actual tire also an important iactor. Another very imporlant faclo(
reqrarkably differenl from gas type extinguishing systems, is thal this syslem invotues
various @mplex techniGl applistioN on each ship, imluding the slructute of the aclual
mach, neryspace, the oprathg silualpn of machimry, type of fite, limitationof adapting
mis1,and tt inffuen on amb.snt maehireries. Theretore. experien@ and techniques
relatedto thes maltets are ssential for design of thiE system
We are confidentthat Kashiwa is able to supply exllnt products and technil seMces,
as w have developed various techniques frm extensive tests and r*arch in our large
scale testing facilities, and wr experigrce as a marire lire extlnguishing manufacturer'
