You can now use the new ENTERPRISE Simulator (introduced in version 5.1) for
Monte Carlo-based UMTS optimisations. Although this is the default and
recommended approach for simulation-based optimisation, you can still use the
5.0 Simulator if you want to, by choosing this option on the Settings tab of the
Optimisation Parameters dialog box:
For UMTS optimisations that use the new Simulator and also consider Pathloss, Ec
or Ec/Io metrics, you must specify a reference terminal on the Profile Settings
page when defining a Configuration Profile:
Page 2
UMTS optimisations are now even faster, as a result of the enhanced consideration
of parameter loading, pathloss predictions and pixel-specific array generation (if
applicable, for example based on vectors or sampling) as well as the new
Simulator (if applicable). In addition improvements have been made to the Site
Selection optimisation process.
You can now specify whether or not to consider the clutter/vector fading standard
deviation in the Static Pathloss and/or Signal Strength calculations for Monte
Carlo-based UMTS optimisations, using an option in the Settings tab of the
Optimisation Parameters dialog box:
Page 3
The final page of the Optimisation Wizard (the Optimisation Manager) has been
re-designed:
It also enables you to review any Delta plan (using the Delta Plan Manager) or the
setup details (using the Optimisation Setup menu) while the Optimiser is running.
Page 4
You can now access familiar ENTERPRISE options, such as the Reports menu or
the Site Database and Pathloss Predictor toolbar shortcuts, from within
ADVANTAGE:
Various other small user interface modifications have been made, for example, the
information provided in the message log while the Optimiser is running and also
when it stops has been improved.
The User Reference Guide and Online Help have been re-structured and partially
re-written based on internal and external customer feedback, to further enhance
the ADVANTAGE user experience.

EV-DO Revision A
ASSET3G has been enhanced to support EV-DO Rev. A. The changes for EV-DO (alias
HDR) have resulted in new parameters for the EV-DO bearers (Data Offset),
downlink parameters (new bitrates) and EV-DO sectors in the Site Database (MAC
Indexes), as well as a new output array.

Fill polygons using a different colour for each unique string attribute value:
In this example, three parts of the polygon are coloured pink to correspond to the
string value ABC, one is coloured green to correspond to the string value DEF and
one is coloured orange to correspond to the string value JKL.
Page 9
Page 10
Select to have a constant filled polygon, which will not use any attribute values:
Selecting Symbol points as shown above exports display filters as scalable font
symbols, optionally with any of the following associated attributes:
Object ID
Object type
These are set for each filter and for each visualiser. Symbol points are only available
on filters and visualisers and are not available on other MapInfo property pages.

Specify a % of prepaid calls received at a transit node on the Isw Voice Traffic
Parameters tab for an interswitch node:
Interswitch Enhancements
A number of other enhancements have been made to the interswitch functionality of
the Traffic module:
If you have set load sharing, DIRECT will now automatically readjust the
percentages if an insufficient number of routes is found - for example, if you have
set the sharing to be between 3 routes (33%-33%-33%) and only two can be found,
the percentages will be adjusted to 50%-50%, rather than 66%-33%. This is
particularly beneficial, since it means that routes are not duplicated.
Important : As a result of this enhancement, only end-to-end (shortest path first)
routing will make use of the interswitch default routing strategies.
When defining POIs (Points of Interconnection) for external networks, you can
now specify more than one POI per network, and also assign different percentages
of traffic to each POI, and, within each POI, different percentages of incoming and
outgoing traffic:
Page 13

Generate new reports based on all network objects or just selected ones
Page 15
The formatting file that will be used to create the report (for example, an XML
Transformation file or a Crystal Reports file)
The file type that will be used to store the report (for example, text (.txt) or
XML (.xml)
The associated viewer for the file type, which will enable you to view the
report as soon as it is generated - this can be different to the file type, for
example, you could view an XML file report in MS Excel
The element types and fields that will be included in the report
All reports are fully customisable, enabling you to create your own combinations
of file types and viewers, and specify precisely what data fields you want a report
to show.
Page 16
You can now create a detailed schematic view of the equipment contained within
a Property by right-clicking it and selecting Create Detail View:
Page 17
The view that is created shows all the connections between equipment in that
Property, as well as external connections.
This view can also be created from the Region View of the Network Browser:
Page 18
In the Detail View, you can choose which ports you want to view:
You can now limit the number of nodes that are displayed, by choosing to display
only those connected to a specific node:
Page 19
Page 20
The Create Route View has been refined, so that it now only displays edges that
are part of the route, rather than all of the edges connecting equipment in the
route. In addition, you can now create a route view from any edge in the Network
Browser:
Using the Arrange, Align and Edge options of the new Layout menu, you can now
arrange your network elements in a variety of different ways, enabling you to
create network views that are clearer and more closely aligned with your planning
needs:
Page 21
Graph Options
On the Axis tab of the OPTIMA Graph Options dialog box, you can now:
Page 22
Page 23
Include/Exclude Polygons
You can now specify whether an area (polygon) should be included or excluded in a
filter of drive test data.
This is particularly useful if you want to limit the display/analysis of drive test data
to a particular area within a filtered subset of data. For example, you may want to
exclude a known area that has bad coverage or you may want to only include the area
with bad coverage to ascertain the cause of the bad coverage.
Usability Enhancements
In previous versions of RANOPT, you may have used an existing module or
requested a new module to be written. The end result was a long list of available
modules, trying to support all possible ways of looking at measurements and trying
to satisfy all requests - with you working with one or two modules at most, at any
given time.
With the latest usability enhancements, RANOPT is now parameter-driven and you
have control over which parameters should be displayed and how they should be
displayed. In effect, this enables you to construct your own windows and have full
control.
Page 24
Replaying Data
Previously in the older version of RANOPT, a Time Domain window manager was
used to replay drive test data. In this version, you can use the replay buttons on the
ENTERPRISE toolbar or the select the replay options from the Replay Menu to replay
the drive test data by stepping through it or playing it back at various speeds.
Using the RANOPT buttons on the ENTERPRISE toolbar, you can configure replay
data settings. You can click the Position Replay Cursor button
to go to a specific
date in the drive test data file. You can click the Speed button
on the
ENTERPRISE toolbar to open a drop down sliding bar to change the speed at which
the loaded file is played. You can replay data forwards, backwards and at various
speeds. During replay, drive test data is synchronised, the displayed data is
continually updated in any open display window, such as Map View window or
tabular list.
Layer 3 Message Window Enhancement
In the RANOPT Administrator, in the Layer 3 Message Window, you can now view
the vendor equipment messages as well as the layer 3 messages.
New Workspace Window
The RANOPT workspace is a window that can contain a maximum of five filters
within RANOPT. Filters can be added or removed from the workspace. The first filter
that is added to the workspace will be Active by default.
This picture shows an example of the Workspace window:
Page 25
By clicking the
button, a further search will give access to the following tabs:
General, Operator/Equipment, and Carrier/Frequencies.
After the filter has been created, the users will be given the option to Apply Only,
Apply + Work Space, or Return(No Apply).
Page 26
Page 27
Page 28
Page 29
You can also view two different antenna patterns together, by selecting a second
pattern and choosing to view both patterns at once (the 1st pattern is marked in red,
the 2nd pattern is marked in blue):
Both of these features are extremely useful for comparing antenna patterns and seeing
the precise path loss at a glance, meaning you can make value judgements on which
pattern is the better one far quicker than in previous versions.
Page 30
To do this:
1
On the Neighbour tab (or in the Neighbour Analysis window), in either of the
neighbours panes, right-click on any column heading and select Choose Details
from the context menu.
In the dialog box that appears, select which columns you want to display.
Click OK.
In the Site Database window (or in the Neighbour Analysis window) the columns will
be displayed according to your requirements.
Note : The settings are always complementary between Outward and Inward
Neighbours.
XML Repeater Format Enhancements
It is now possible to export the pathloss from a parent cell when exporting a repeater
to an XML file. This makes the XML export for repeaters more detailed.
Oracle 10g Support
ENTERPRISE can now be used in conjunction with an Oracle 10g database.
Windows XP/2003 64-bit Compliance
ENTERPRISE can now be run in a 64 bit Windows environment.
Page 31
This is extremely useful if you have a preferred filter that you use for the majority of
your time, because it means you do not have to select it each time you open a dialog
box that requires you to choose a filter.
For more information on all these features, see the ENTERPRISE User Reference
Guide.
For more information on the features new to specific tools, see the following topics.

You can configure the HSDPA Link Power action cost in the Global Design Targets
and Action Costs dialog box:
Page 34
You can configure your optimisation profile to include HSDPA Link Power Planning
actions and constraints in the Optimisation Profiles dialog box:
Including HSDPA Link Power planning actions and constraints in your optimisation profile
Page 35
OMX Enhancements
If you generate OMX data (as XML) and choose to create a report as well,
ADVANTAGE produces an Excel file, which contains the actions/constraints
information for the planned objects (for example, antennas) that you would like to
consider during the optimisation.
If you click Edit OMX in the OMX Manager dialog box, you can now edit this Excel
file and transfer your changes to the XML, which enables you to make more detailed
changes to your OMX data more quickly and accurately than in previous versions.
Page 36
On the Cost Function Weights tab, you can set the weightings based on Budget,
Manpower and Performance.
Page 37
On the Plan Rejection Options tab, you can choose to reject plans based on any
individual metric degradation - that is, configure the optimisation mechanism so that
it will not accept plans that violate the thresholds set in absolute or relative terms.
On the Cost Synthesis tab, you can define the cost conversion coefficients, which
normalise the units used for the different cost categories so that the respective costs
are considered in the optimisation on a common basis. You can also select the
performance cost synthesis type, which determines how the performance cost
components are considered in the optimisation.
Page 38
Use the Monte Carlo Simulator to generate detailed analysis and reports of
network performance, in terms of coverage, interference and capacity
The WiMAX mode can be set on the Technology tab of the Preferences dialog box,
under the File menu. You need to have the appropriate licence.
Page 39
Compound Arrays
You can now define, generate, and analyse your own compound arrays based upon
the existing arrays available.
The generation of compound arrays depends on mathematical expressions that you
define. When you define these expressions, you specify which existing (input) arrays
are to be used. Each expression can then be used to produce new (output) compound
arrays.
Page 40
Generating a compound array that compares arrays from different network scenarios, by
defining an expression to compare an archived array with a new array.
Generating a compound array that considers customised threshold criteria (for example,
signal strength), by defining an expression with a specific threshold.
You can customise what the analysis plot shows in terms of the X and Y axes, and
which cell levels to display.
When you select a vector/polygon, it becomes highlighted, and as you move the
cursor along the vector, you can see the analysis plots in the Pixel Analyser window.
For more information on all these features, see the ASSET3G User Reference Guide.
Page 41
Page 42
Then you can define it on the linkends of your links, setting a power range for ATPC
to operate within. You can then choose to use Static ATPC (whereby you specify
either the minimum or maximum power, and CONNECT calculates the other value
based on the power range) or Flexible ATPC (whereby you specify a nominal power
value for regulatory purposes, but the power can go above/below that up to the
specified maximum/minimum).
Page 43
You can also view link budget performance results based on a variety of powers maximum power, minimum power or nominal power - to give you a better idea of
which powers you should be using.
Page 44
Page 45
These values are then used in the interference calculations to calculate interference.
For more information on these calculations, see the CONNECT User Reference Guide.
Page 46
Usability Improvements
A number of general improvements in usability have been made in CONNECT 5.2.
These are:
User Defined Profiles are now treated independently from links. They appear as a
separate item in the Wastebasket and can be restored from there. This
independence is particularly useful, since you can now Apply UDP data without
affecting the Apply state of the corresponding link.
In the User Defined Profile dialog box, in the User Clutter column, the clutter
categories are listed. This is beneficial because it enables you to pick a specific
clutter category, rather than just define the height value.
When you select a point in the User Defined Profile dialog box, the corresponding
point on the Height Profile will be highlighted in red. This is a useful way to
visualise the data at a specific point.
When producing customised link reports, you can now choose to produce a report
with both linkends of a link displayed on the same row of the report. This is useful
because it enables you to view each link more clearly on a single row.
Another useful visual improvement has been made on the Fade Margin subtab of
the Performance tab in the Link Database. If the Interference Margin is negative,
the value is displayed in red.
Page 47
Defining Reserved Channels in the PDH Module Default Parameters dialog box
This is particularly useful, since it means that you can directly reserve certain
channels for signalling traffic, and ensure that they will not be used for other traffic.
This will enable you to model your network more realistically, since a certain number
of channels are required for signalling purposes.
Equipment Type based Port Availability
You can now view information on how connections and ports are used on a particular
piece of equipment. On the Connection Usage tab of the equipment, you can view per connection - the number of circuits (and, in the case of physical connections,
ports) available, as well as the percentages that are used and unused.
This information is particularly useful when routing, to show you whether the
number of circuits connected to the equipment actually exceeds the defined limits or
not.
Page 48
Page 49
Reporter Enhancements
A number of refinements have been made to the Reporter. In particular, you can now:
Use the OPTIMA Data Explorer to create and edit report queries
Inspector Enhancements
A number of refinements have been made to the Inspector, which are of benefit when
setting up and viewing data. In particular, the following changes have been made:
Page 50
Summary types can be applied to multiple fields using the new Quick
Aggregation dialog box for customising summaries
Page 51
Set up report schedules to export reports to multiple formats (printer, file, and/or
email)
Use the Address Book when creating report schedules. This is particularly useful,
because it enables you to select multiple user and/or group contacts rather than
typing individual email addresses
Page 52
You can double click on the overview window to get the overview window cursor
(hand) to jump to where youve clicked on the main view.
Multiple Administrators and User Authentication
WEBWIZARD now allows access by more than one Administrator at a time.
Sharing Centralised Published Folders
Publish folders can now be relative to an additionally specified network path that is
separate to the virtual directory root.
What's New in ENTERPRISE?
Version 5.2.1
Page 53
Administrators can now import project settings from one user and store them in
the database for everyone to use.
With large numbers of users, the administrator can also choose to store user
settings in the database rather than the registry.
All users can now export their current user settings to a file to back them up or for
re-use in another project, and can subsequently import them back into the
database.
Changes to Filters
You can now:
Page 54
Separate your filters into system filters and user filters and administrators can
change the filter structure of a project to make it more manageable.
Define under what conditions a label is displayed. For example, you may want to
display the Property ID as a label for a cell site, but only for those sites which also
contain particular RNCs.You can also change the order in which labels are drawn
on the Map View.
Use a new In operator for all carrier assignment attributes, enabling you to select a
list of applicable carrier numbers.
Use a new hierarchy rule has been created, to enable you to select all 1st and 2nd
order neighbours of a particular named cell selection.
What's New in ENTERPRISE?
Version 5.2.1
Refine the display to show just specific criteria, for example just scrambling codes
1-5.
Print and save to file views in the Map View window using the Universal
Document Converter virtual printer driver. Saving to file means you can archive
the plots and use them elsewhere, for example, in planning justification reports.
Printing to file can also save time when printing using Citrix. You can save plots
as PDF, TIFF, JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, PCX or DCX .
Search criteria as well as filter contents can now be imported and exported using
XML files.
Users' project settings can now be exported and imported using new buttons on
the Modify Project dialog box.
MCS curves can now be imported and exported using XML files.
You can now select whether simulation power settings are absolute (dBm) or
relative (dB) on a per cell basis, and import and export these absolute or relative
values to XML.
You can now view and modify the user-defined fields of an object's parent from
the object itself, on the Status tab in the Site Database.
Page 55
You can now specify the RAC and NSEI for cells in the Site Database.
In the Global Edit tool, you can replace all instances of one antenna type with
another.
In the Antenna Database, you can now summarise a list of antennas with
characteristics based on a defined set of criteria.
All equipment and configuration lists that do not have an alternative priority
based ordering scheme are automatically sorted.
If you have large numbers of sites in a project, you may want to load only some of
the sites, in a particular area. You can now choose to load a particular region based
on a specified polygon.
In the Add Neighbour dialog box, you can now provide a comma-separated list of
neighbours.
For more information on all these features, see the ENTERPRISE User Reference
Guide.
For more information on the features new to specific tools, see the following topics.
Page 56
The Optimisation Wizard has been enhanced to allow the viewing of multiple
graphs.
You can export all related metrics of the Cost Breakdown dialog box and create
graphs in an Excel tabular format.
You can create a report which contains the full configuration of an optimised
network.
You are also able to partially apply a delta plan in the network. This allows you to
create deployment plans as well as limit the number of changes in the network.
Moreover, you also have the option of creating full configuration/delta reports
showing the changes made after partially applying part(s) of delta plan(s) to the
network.
Page 57

Administrators can define table level security to restrict users access to specific
tables
Administrators and Advanced users can set groups to be the owners of objects
they have created, thus restricting who can edit them
In the Management Alarm screen, you can display a broad level view of
customer SLAs, enabling you to quickly identify SLAs that are subject to
service quality problems.
In Engineering Alarm screen, you can view the service quality counters that
are degrading (Minor and Major degradations)
In both Alarm screens, you can sort the SLAs by the most important customer
or the most affected customer, and view details of the next likely SLA to be
affected based on trend analysis.
GPRS functionality:
You can now monitor GPRS SLAs. The GPRS data is collected either from
Probes based XDRs (Transaction Detailed Records) or from Billing CDRs (Call
Detailed Records) of a GPRS network.
You can also now set up GPRS related SLAs, monitor alarms, generate detailed
reports and perform drill down analysis.

There are now three different types of user. The Administrator, or Super User, is
created when the Administrator tool is used for the first time. This Super User can
create Regional Super Users and Users.
The use of passwords to log in is now more flexible. Administrators can choose to
use the default Oracle profile for database security or they can choose to define
their own profile. Defining a profile allows Administrators to:
New user-defined fields - Administrators can now define not only status flags but
additional user-editable fields to provide extra information about IDs and data.
These new fields associated with objects can be either discrete values from a
picklist shown, as flags were, or variable items such as character strings, integers,
boolean values, or floats. All these fields can be used in filters.
See the Administrator User Reference Guide for information about creating users and
defining fields. See the ENTERPRISE User Reference Guide for information on the
changes to the file format and logging into ENTERPRISE.

Being able to use the Monte Carlo simulator for planning and analysis of both 2g
and 3g networks. Several new arrays and reports have been created to assist you
in analysing the networks.
New arrays have also been created to enable you to visually analyse frequency
plans.
Page 78
Pixel Analyser
The Pixel Analyser has been enhanced so that you can:
View more simulation results for multi technology cells per pixel
Wideband Repeaters
In addition to the existing 2g repeaters, ASSET3G now supports wideband repeaters
for 3g networks. You can model these and use either wire-line or off-air repeaters for
coverage area extension.
Add obstructions to the height profile based on the different data types building
vector, DTM height, clutter or building raster
LOS Enhancements
A number of enhancements have been made to the way you calculate line-of-sight:
You can now define the clearance calculation type as either LOS or Fresnel
You can now define the colour, type and width of the line used to display LOS
routes
Page 79
The LOS wizard results now also display the minimum number of hops, the
cumulative distance between Properties, the route between the Properties
You can now save the LOS results after viewing them
If you choose to analyse a selected link, you can additionally calculate interference
for the separate sub-band channels and/or the different polarisations
You can save interference data after you have viewed interference results
Add the two types using separate buttons in the Map View window
View information about the two types under separate headings in the Link
Database

Automated Scripts
A new exe has been added called the Responsfileparsercmd.exe. This exe can be used
to parse command files from the command line.
In addition to the Responsfileparsercmd.exe a VB script file called
ParseResponseFile.vbs has been added. This script is added to the Windows
Scheduler and can be run intermittently to parse all the response files received for all
executed discrepencies. ParseResponseFile.vbs calls the above
Responsfileparsercmd.exe to parse the response files.
Two additional named, Send_Files_For_Live_CellVerification.vbs and
Get_Files_For_Live_CellVerification.vbs, can be used to send commands to TMOS
and retrieve the response files to determine whether cells marked as redundant
within the Discrepancies Handler exist within the live network or not.
The automateMML.vbs script has now been renamed to
ExecuteScheduledDiscrepancies.vbs and the ScheduleDiscrepancy.vbs renamed to
ScheduleAutomatedDiscrepancies.vbs.
Page 86
A General Traffic Model (GTM) has been added, to enable you to model network
traffic in detail. The parameters described in the GTM are used in the AAL VCC
capacity calculation.
You can define new service classes, to provide Quality of Service support when
priority queuing schemes are used inside switches. This is very useful in 3g
planning, where a mix of services is used.
You can now define CS data traffic on MSC and MGW nodes, as well as define all
other rel4 nodes.
You can create different codec schemes and perform codec conversions at each
node by using a codec conversion table.
What's New in ENTERPRISE?
Version 5.2.1
You can model the Inter Working Function (IWF) at the MSS (MSC Server), or as
stand alone CDS node.
The traffic modeller (Trmod.xls) now calculates Interswitch Erlang traffic for CS
data traffic separately.
You can define the preferred nodes for a VMS or IVR, for use as a Point of
Interconnection that traffic will be distributed to when you subsequently generate
interswitch or signalling traffic.
You can now define external nodes for voice and data traffic.
ALL signalling is handled by the MSC server node, in accordance with the 3GPP
rel4 specification.
You can set QoS service level parameters for use in the ATM (and IP) capacity
calculations.
You can now create an ATM port controller, which uses the 3GPP standard to
determine QoS at the ATM switch.
There is a new ATM capacity calculation and Queuing Network Analyser (QNA)
calculation. You can use QNA to calculate the end-to-end delay that conforms to
ATM QoS service level agreement.
IP Module Enhancements
The following enhancements have been made to the IP module:
Scheduling mechanisms for IP traffic have been added, which use Weighted Fair
Queuing & Weighted Round Robin scheduling to provide QoS. These mechanisms
are used in the Multimode Differentiated Services Queuing mechanism, which
you can model in the IP router.
You can now calculate IP capacity, and perform the Priority Queuing Network
Analyser (PQNA) calculation in order to calculate the end-to-end delays.
You can route voice traffic onto the IP layer, and calculate nominal traffic capacity
by using the Erlang B formula, with traffic percentage shares for each traffic.
When you calculate nominal IP capacity, SIGTRAN and TDM protocol stack
overheads are now taken in to account.
Page 87
The ability to refresh data, enabling more than one person to work on a project at
one time
Improvements to Templates
Templates have been improved in ENTERPRISE 5.0.0 so that you can now:
Create and configure templates from existing network elements in the Site
Database and Map View windows
Move a network element on the Map View window to any location. If no property
exists at that location, the elements current property is also moved
Changes to Antennas
Multi-Mask Antennas
ENTERPRISE now supports antennas in a more realistic way. You can create antenna
devices that have several patterns rather than having to create the same antenna
many times over to model different beam patterns. Each antenna beam pattern can be
configured in the usual way.
Support for Switch Beam Antennas
As well as the standard antennas which only have one pattern carrying all of the
uplink and downlink traffic, a second type of antenna is now supported.
Switch Beam antennas are used to adjust the use of signals to best suit the users and
environment. Switch beam antennas are made up of a number of fixed predefined
patterns (beams) and as the user moves through the cell, their terminal is dynamically
connected to the beam that provides them with the strongest signal.
Page 88
Refreshing Data
In Version 5.0.0, there are a number of improvements to how data is refreshed:
Two people can work on a single project in the same database simultaneously
rather than having to log out and back in again to see any changes made by the
other person
Each person also has the ability to accept changes made by other people working
on the project
Permissions can be set by the owner of the project to enable others to make
changes
You can reconstruct the hierarchy shown in the Site Database window to reflect
any changes made to network elements on the Map View window
Call Events
You are able to request audio notification for the User Defined Events in defined
NEPTUNE. You are also able to request audio notification for the following Call
Events in NEPTUNE:
Dropped Call
No Setup
Poor Quality
Good Calls
Events can be displayed in the Map View window when in Logging mode.
Audio notification occurs by playing a wave sound file that is linked to a NEPTUNE
event. The audio notification configuration is stored in the system registry.
