Eliminate
Ron despite
the threats
of a lawsuit
on age
discriminati
on against
the
company

Eliminating
Ron and
letting
Dianne stay
can bring
lawsuits
since he
belongs to
the
protected
class.
Boycotts
may also
be possible
because
the people
may think
that there
is actually
an age
discriminati
on in the
company.
Moreover,
the
company
might
spend extra
time and
money in
lawsuit. On
the bright
side, the
company
can benefit
from this
decision
when it
comes to
labor since
Dianne is

Eliminating
Ron is not
good for
him and for
the
company as
well
because if
Ron is
eliminated,
he will lose
his job and
thus
making him
unable to
support his
family
anymore;
while the
company
on the
other hand
may face
lawsuits
and
controversi
es
regarding
age
discriminati
on.

It is not fair
to eliminate
Ron despite
the fact
that he is a
poor
performer
in the
company
since he
has served
the
company
for a long
time. Aside
from that,
he is a
tenure and
a member
of the
protected
class so it is
unfair to
just lay him
off.

It is not
ethical to
fire Ron
only
because he
is a poor
performer
in the
company.
He is a part
of family
and
therefore
he needs
something
to do for a
living. It will
be awful if
Lindsey
decides to
lay him off
only
because he
is not doing
well in the
company. In
fact, he is a
tenure, and
that should
be enough
not to fire
him.

Implications
for Personal
Integrity
and
Character
We think
that it is
not right to
eliminate
Ron
because he
has served
the
company
for a long
time and
because we
think that
he needs
his job and
if we fire
him, he will
have slim
chance to
be hired
because of
his age.

Eliminate
Dianne to
avoid a
lawsuit and
maintain
the
companys
reputation.

somehow
better than
Ron.
This is more
advantageo
us when it
comes to
maintaining
the
companys
reputation
as an
organizatio
n that does
not tolerate
age
discriminati
on.
However,
the
companys
performanc
e when it
comes to
labor will
be
sacrificed
since it is
said that
Ron is a
poor
performing
employee.
Looking at
it in a
different
perspective
, it is better
because
the
company
will not
spend time
and money
on lawsuits
and

It is not
right to
eliminate
Dianne only
because
Ron
belongs to
the tenured
employees.
In fact,
Dianne has
better
potential
than Ron.
She must
get what
she
deserves,
and she
deserves to
stay on her
job.

It is unfair
for Dianne
to be laid
off by
Lindsey
because
albeit she is
a low
performer,
she is
considered
to have
better
potential as
compared
to Ron. Just
by looking
at their
performanc
e, she is
quite better
than Ron.

It is not
ethical to
remove
Dianne
from her
job only to
avoid
lawsuits.
She has
better
potential
than Ron
and
therefore
she
deserves to
be on her
job. Like
Ron, she
also needs
the job and
she may
have a hard
time in
looking for
another job
at her age
too, which
is somehow
old.

We came to
the
realization
that this is
somehow
unfair for
Dianne
because as
stated in
the
scenario,
she has
greater
potential
than Ron
has. Also,
by
terminating
her, there is
a possibility
that the
company
may
encounter
unions that
fight
against
gender
discriminati
on.

boycotts.
