What’s Happening Around Town
The glorious weather has been a welcome
treat this week, and the students have been
able to enjoy extra time in the warmth of the
sunshine as a reward for their diligent work on
the Iowa Test of Basic Skills! They did a phe-
nomenal job, and I could not be more proud of
them! The students have also worked hard
preparing for their vocal music concert tonight,
and I cannot wait for you to experience the
treat awaiting you as they sing for God’s glory!
In addition to testing and preparing for our
concert, we had the opportunity to learn and
practice many skills. In phonics, we were intro-
duced to the two special sounds ow makes in
words (long o sound in blow and ow sound in
cow). We practiced subtracting one, telling time
to the hour, half-hour, and quarter past the
hour, and counting by fives, tens, and twos in
math. Our handwriting is improving, and we are
focusing on making our lines straight and our
balls round as we practice proper body basics
while writing (sit up straight, feet flat on the
floor, paper slanted, and pencil pinched between
thumb and pointer). During our visit to Italy this
week, the students made pizza and learned how
to play Follow Through Tag. The focus of our
seashore unit this week was shells, and we
grouped real shells based on the characteristics
of three main types of shells (whelks, cockles,
and scallops). You may want to see the seashore
collage your child made hanging outside our
classroom before going to the concert tonight!

Answers to Questions on the Ranch
A: Your child will be participating in the vocal
music concert tonight. It begins at 7 p.m., and
your child should arrive at 6:45 p.m. and find his
or her seat with our class at that time. Chapel
dress is appropriate for this evening! The stu-
dents are excited about singing, and I guaran-
tee you will leave the concert with joy in your
heart and a smile on your face!
A: You will find an “invitation” in your child’s
HORSE folder today which your son or daugh-
ter made for a grandparent inviting them to
Grandparent’s Day at ACA on Friday, April 30.
This day is a special opportunity for students to
host their grandparents and show them where
they work, play, and have fun! Grandparents
are invited to join us for the day beginning at 9
a.m. We will also dismiss school early that day
at 12:00 p.m., and if your child will be riding
home with a grandparent, you must sign and
return the permission slip found in your child’s
HORSE folder so we know who your child may
go home with on the 30th. There will be more
details to come as the special day approaches,
and if you know a grandparent or grandparent-
like figure will not be able to join your child,
please let me know so I can find an “adoptive”
grandparent for the day!
 Spotlighting Students and Volunteers A Bible Course Map for the Upcoming Week

Wow! I have so many individuals to thank
this week, and I want you to know I appreci-
ate you all so very much! First, let me express
my gratitude to the Stuart family for providing could make him well, and so he asked Him to
such nutritious and protein-packed snacks for “make me clean.” Jesus reached out His hand and
this week of testing! The kids enjoyed a
hearty snack before every test, and I know it
helped them be successful! Next week the
Charlton family will be providing snacks, and
we look forward to more yummy and whole-
some treats!
I also want to thank a family for their will- We are to separate ourselves from sin and do
ingness to pump up our playground balls!
What an unexpected blessing that was for us!
Another individual or family donated some
new recess balls, and a third family generously
gave some art supplies for our class and the
school! Thank you all for looking for ways to
serve and meet our needs! Praise God!
Monday, April 19 - Jesus Heals One Leper (Mat.
8:2-4; Mk. 1:40-45) One day a man with leprosy
came to Jesus to be healed. He believed Jesus
touched the man saying, “be clean.” The leper
was healed and went to tell everyone thought
Jesus had told him not to do so. People began
flocking to Jesus to be healed, but Jesus wanted
to teach the people that like leprosy, sin easily
spreads and grows until we cannot control it.

Tuesday, April 20 - Review of previous lesson.
Wednesday, April 21 - Jesus Heals Ten Lepers (Lk.
5:12-14; 17:11-19) As Jesus was traveling with His
disciples, a group of ten lepers came to Jesus.
The bowed before Him, and He listened to their
desire to be made whole. Jesus healed them, and
then they left Him. Only one of the ten lepers,
however, returned to thank and praise God for
healing him. We must have a thankful heart.
Thursday, April 22 - Review of previous lesson.
Friday, April 23 - Character study - Naaman (2
Kings 5:-27) Naaman was a captain of the king,
but he had leprosy. Naaman’s wife had a maiden
who told Naaman he could be made well. Elisha,
a servant of God, instructs Naaman to dip down
in the Jordan seven times to be made whole.
Naaman obeyed, and God gave him new skin!
