The bridges on the Trans-Canada highway are built at the spots where the
animals have been crossing naturally. Studies are made before the bridges are
built. Cameras are in place to document the use of the bridges by wildlife.

I was wondering how they would train the animals to use the bridges.

In the photo of the unknown bridge, you can clearly see narrow paths made by
wildlife while crossing. This only occurs when they same area is used regularly.
Studies are done to aid in the placement of these crossings as well.

I would like people to note that there is not one animal on any one of those
bridges. Glad I didn't help fund those boondogles.

Along with being a foul mouthed Asshat I notice you really stay abreast
of current events. This thread is only a year old. Those animal bridges
have probably been torn down by now. Go back to bed.

Mike Dodson are you retarded? That's like saying city bridges are
useless because at 2am in the morning there is no one using them.

I hope there is a fence along the road so the animals can't cross onto it .

Has anyone done a survey to see if the animals do use the crossings? I would
think some hidden cameras could settle whether or not an animal will use it.

I don't see how animals would walk hundreds of meters to use a bridge if they can
cross the street just like that.
Am I underestimating the intelligence of these creatures?

The bridge is made to resemble the terrain they are used to. The road
isn't. Which would you choose?
