industries. Recently this agency has started this division in India from their Kolkata office and the present focus is

Project Engineering & Management for design and construction :
I. Upgradation (Design, Erection, Inspection, Supervision and Commissioning) of Air Pollution Control
Equipments (ESPs and Bag Filters) for Tata Steel Limited, Jamshedpur.
Project Background :
Growth Plan at Tata Steel Jamshedpur envisages expansion of its Crude Steel production capacity from present level
of 5MTPA to 10 MTPA by March 2010.With this expansion planned for Jamshedpur Works, it is expected that
Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM) in the atmosphere will reach a level above that would be acceptable to
Pollution Control Board. It is therefore, planned to upgrade the Air Pollution Control (APC) equipments of selected
departments, so that the existing stack emission of 100 mg/Nm3 will be reduced to 30 mg/Nm3 and 10 mg/ Nm3 for
ESP(nine existing & two new ) and Bag Filter (58 nos:) respectively attached with Sinter Plants, Power House

Boiler ,Raw Material Blending & Bedding Plant, Lintz -Doniatz & Slab Casting Plant, Refractory Process
Plant.TCE is working as a Project Management Consultant for this entire upgradation job.
Roles & Responsibilities :
Working in this project as a Project Engineer .The project is divided in different packages and for some packages the
project is running trough pre order stage and for some packages it is in the post order stage.
The jobs involved in pre order stages are studying the existing sources of emissions, collection of process stream
data for gas volumes, temperature, dust loading, etc. necessary from the plants to complete the tender documents,
analysis of data and certification of data from plant people, completion the process of required input data for
preparation of bid, preparation of tender document with all general and particular terms and conditions, commercial
terms, technical specifications, bid drawings, technical schedules and price schedule, participation in pre-bid
meeting, evaluation of bids for technical and commercial terms in coordination with TSL, including obtaining
clarifications from bidders through consultant, assistance in preparation of techno-commercial recommendation,
preparation of price tabulation, participation in price negotiation and finalization of commercial terms and
conditions, visiting vendors works and vendor evaluation, preparation of financial sanction request, assistance in
Contract Finalization.
The jobs involved in the post order stage are coordination & site supervision for the erection job, regular reporting
of project progress to the client and arranging project progress meeting on regular interval between the concerned
vendor and different department of the client.
II. Green Building Certification for TCE House
Project Background :
This was an in-house project of TCE .TCE is starting a new office in Jamshedpur which is going to be a green
building and to achieve the certificate the new building should be rated by its excellence in six features like Erosion
& Sedimentation Control , Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental
Quality, Innovation & Design Process. The building will be certified as a green building by LEED India if it can
achieve certain ratings in all these six features.
Roles & Responsibilities:
-Working as a Specialist Engineer in this project.
-Site visit to gather adequate information.
-Interaction with the contractor (Surmount Energy Solution Pvt. Ltd.) who is working for the overall management of
the project.

III. Effluent Treatment Plant Augmentation for Coke Oven Plant of Tata Steel Project
Project Background :
This project involves capacity augmentation of the existing activated sludge effluent treatment plant from existing
design capacity of 125m3 /hr to 180 m3 /hr with tertiary treatment facility.

-Working as a Project engineer of the project.

IV. Installation of Package Type Sewage Treatment plant in CRM Bara ,Tata Steel

I. REIA Study for new washery & thermal power plant in West Bokaro
Project Background :
This is an ongoing project. which involves EIA report preparation job for new washery and thermal power plant in
Danea Block of West Bokaro where TCE is the consultant.
Roles & Responsibilities:
-Site visit to gather adequate information.
-Interaction with the contractor who provides the ambient air, ground water, surface water,noise, soil, ,land,
ecological information.
II. REIA Study for new cold rolling mill for Bara Plant of Tata Steel
Project Background :
This is an ongoing project. which involves EIA report preparation job for cold rolling mill of 0.5 MPTA capacity of
Tata Steel Limited.

IV. REIA studies Joda East Iron Ore Mines Expansion to 10 MTPA change of land use pattern Manmora
mines.

The Joda East Iron Mine is one of the oldest opencast since 1956.Tata steel lease-holder of the mine now envisages
for a proposed capacity expansion of Iron Ore to 12 MPTA with processing capacity of 19 MPTA to meet company's
requirement of raw material for enhanced steelmaking capacity. The Rapid Environmental Impact Study is for the
expansion of the mining area for increased production.

Furnace Gas storage Tank and Propane Storage Bullet of Tata Steel.

Overview : Cadmium Oxide and Cadmium Sulfide particles in the nanometer size regime have been synthesized
using chemical routes. Both of the nano-particles were prepared with Hydrogen Sulfide Gas. Different techniques
like X Ray Diffraction, UV Absorption Spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy are used for structural
characterization of the nano-particles. The optimal band gap of these materials has been determined to produce a
relationship between energy band gap of bulk and nano materials

Overview : The research project has been undertaken to develop an Arsenic adsorption filter to resolve the

the sludge is utilized for the purpose of brick manufacturing. In this circumstances, it is very significant to assess out
weather is it the best possible management i.e. done with the sludge. Hence the thesis work encompasses the
quantities measurement of the sludge. This involves the measurement of inlet TSS of different stream on day to day
basis. The TSS multiplied by the volumetric flow can indicate the amount of sludge developed in each individual
unit. The other part of the work encompasses :
1. Calculation of Annual Sludge Generation.
2. Analysis of alum dozing pattern along with change in river water turbidity.
3. Analysis of water quality of River Hoogly and observation in change of some
physico-chemical parameter in last 20 years.
4. Development of Turbidity TSS correlation for Hoogly River water.
5. Cost-effective management of the sludge.
6. Brick Production a typical application of water treatment plant sludge.
