BACKGROUNDOFINVENTION

increasinginterestinutiliZationofIndianMedicinalplants
fortreatingchronicrespiratorydisordersassomeofthese
plantsareknoWntobeusedintraditionalmedicineforat
leastalleviatingthesymptomsassociatedWiththem.
[0003]AyurvedicSystemofMedicineoriginatedinIndia
morethan5000yearsago,utiliZesthecurativepropertiesof
plantsfortreatingdiseases.AyurvedarecogniZesthreedif
ferenthumors,Vata,PittaandKapha,Whichcontrolthe
bodymetabolism.Vatacontrolsallthemovementsofthe
bodyasitreleasesenergymainlyfromthecatabolicreac
tions,WhilePittaisresponsiblefortheenZymaticreactions
responsibleforbothanabolicandcatabolicpathWays.HoW
ever,Kaphaisresponsibleforanabolicreactions,Whichare
responsibleforallsyntheticcompoundsdepositedinthe
body.AharmoniousWorkingoftheabovethreehumorsin
abalancedmannerisresponsiblefortheoptimumfunction
ingofahealthyindividual.Anyimbalanceintheharmoni
ousWorkingofthethreehumorsleadstoimbalanceofbody
metabolismasWellasbodyfunctions,Whichultimately
result,intodifferentailments.Theprimarypurposeof
AyurvedicSystemofMedicineistobringaboutabalanced

niousmannerandpossiblyduetosynergisticeffectofthe
compounds,someingredientspotentiatethetherapeutic
activityofthemainactiveingredientorevenretardthe
undesirableactionsofthemaincompoundbecauseindi
vidualcompoundsmaynotbeaseffectiveasthatofthe
mixtureofcompoundspresentintheplant.

manifestationofthediseases.Atthesametime,mostofthe
diseasesareassociatedWithimbalanceofmorethanone
humorproducingdifferentsymptomsinvolvingvarious
organsofthebody.Henceamultiingredienttherapy
includesacombinationofherbaldrugsWhichmayhave
eitheracomplimentaryorsupplementaryactionforeach
other.

torshavedevelopedaherbalcoughremedyformulationWith
selectedherbalingredientsthatbringaboutabalanceof
threebasichumorspresentinthebodytherebyproviding
amountofcompositioncomprisingofsuchingredientsthat
treatsinalltypesofcoughs.

productsbutemployedmainlyforthetreatmentofskin
disorders,fungalinfections,arthriticandjointpain,various
in?ammatoryconditions,psoriasis,dementiaandfeWCNS
disorders.ThereareveryfeWpatentsWhichdescribecom
positionsfortreatmentofrespiratorydisorders.

forthetreatmentofnasalcongestionthatcomprisesof
pluralityofherbsthoroughlymixedtogetherandcombined
Withanadhesive.Thisisatypeofherbalbandagemadeof
amixtureofWhitepepper,driedgingerrhiZomeandcinna
montWigpoWderWithadhesive.Thepresentinvention
differsfromtheabovepatentbecausethepatentedabstract
isatopicaldosageformanditisforthetreatmentofnasal
congestionWhereaspresentinventionisanoralsyrupfor
mulationfortreatingcoughfromdifferentetiologiesand
relatedsymptoms.

makinganherbaldrinkandanapparatusdevelopedfor
relievingsymptomsoffatigue,congestion,feverand
asthma.ThedrinkisformedbystrainingWaterthrougha
combinationofequalportionsofrosehip,goldenseal,com
freyleaf,beepollen,spearmint,chickWeed,comfreyroot,
chamomile?oWer,catnip,mullein,pennyroyal,eucalyptus,
andlicoriceroot.Thetherapydoesnotaddresssevere
conditionssuchasbronchialasthama,chronicobstructive
pulmonarydisease,bronchitisandotherrespiratorydisor
dersandalsotheproductisnotcosteffectivesinceit
involvesspecialapparatusforadministrationofthemedi
cament.

sitionmainlyforthetreatmentofchronicobstructivepul
monarydisease(COPD)andrespiratorydisordersanda
processforpreparingthesame.Thecompositioncomprises
ofBryonia,Ipecacuanha,DroseraandAntimonypotassium
tartrate.Theproductpreparationinvolvesuseofpharma
ceuticallyhaZardousorganicsolventsforextractionprocess.

havinganimprovedtherapeuticefficacyforthetreatmentof
varioustypesofcoughandrespiratorydisorders.
