Zonei^_^State,

Please send along with this form ddpies of recommendations from churches which will encourage
other churches to support your missionary work. There are churches which will not allow a
visiting missionary to speak unless a church recommendation can be shown. Since it is impos
sible for any one person to know all Christians in the world, this recommendation by a respon
sible New Testament church is a vital help in persuading others of your worthiness and the value
of your mission. Mission Services stands ready to help you inform HORIZONS readers about
your church recommendations. Since the church is sending youito the mission field (Acts 13:1-3)
and will help provide the necessary needs on the field, naturally the church should shai^e the credit in your missionary ministry. One of the ways that the church can do this is to share their
conviction regarding your missionary ministry with others. Certainly, their words will help
convince others regarding the worthiness of your work. Please help MISSION SERVICES to
spread your news through HORIZONS, Packets and Slide library by sending your church recom
mendations as soon as possible. Thanks. Send what you have now, and the others later.

Another Second Generation Missionary (Feb.6,75 WEH)

( Picture
The Mark Pratt family
Mark Fratt has lived most of bis

life in Japan as a missionary's son.

Mark plans to take bis family to Japan

to enter a "Campus Ministry" in
Tokyo and August, 1975 i^" their

departure date.

Mark's parents,

haul and lirs. Kathleen Iratt, in

Javpan arranged for the Ohayo Singers

to tou2' Japan during the Sumioer of
1970.

This first hand contact v.-ith

the 5 needs of Japan challemged Mark

and Lynn and they have dedicated their

talents to service in Japan.

Mark tells his story:" From the

time I was 9 or 10 I v;anted to 'get

ux-> there and preach like "Dad.' On
top of that forsLioat desire I felt

that it v/as necessary to do it in a

country where the st >ry of Jesus had
not boen bold so ofter) and in some

X>laces never.

After getting to know

the country of Japan and grov/ing to

love her people my feeling ^v'a3 that

I would go back to her some day to

work.

Staying away from Japanese

people for a while( during college

Another Sec. Gen. Hiss.(Page 2, Peh. 6,75)

years) made me sense a deeper

desire to return again.

In 1970

I was thrilled to he able to go to

Japan for the Summer.

Then, the

need for the spreading of the

Gospel there hit me even harder

and compelled me to begin plans

to come back.

I felt that the youth

were the ones to reach v/ith the

talents tliat God had given to me.

Hot long after that ray parents in

Japan suggested that if v/e wanted

to they couj.d begin the groundwork

for a Campus Ministry near Tokyo.
We said ' Sure' and nmi we are

doing our best to prepare ourselves

for fields that need to be haivested."

Lynn adds her line;" In August after

my graduation from high school, I still

didn't know what I was going to do

that Pall.

I finally decided

at thh

last minute to go to G.B.S. - but I

really didn't know why.

I started on

a Christian Education degree, because

I thought that would be useful.
my ^Junior 1 year, I met Hark.

During

I was

invited to spend the Suinmer(1970) in

Japan as a member of the Ohayo Singers.

Another Sec Gen. Miss.(Page 3*75 WEM)

I fell in love with Japan( as well
as I^iarkl).

As we talked of raarriage

v,'e talked of going back to Japan.

It seened strange for me - I had

lived for 19 years in the same house
in the same little town; now, I was
talking of moving halfway around the
v;orld!

The Lord has helped in these

plans.

For the first time, the

University of Cincinnati offered

Japanese this year.

Lo, I'll liave

one year of language study behind me

when v<e go.

Things like this God

has helped with - if only v/e'd ask

Him befox^e we start v/orryiiig 1

The

Campus Ministry can be a grcjat tool

in Japan.

I love the lord, my family,

young people, Japan and teaching.

This

is what I want to do with my life."
