Another Second Generation Missionary (Feb.6,75 WEH)

The Mark Pratt family
Mark Fratt has lived most of bis

life in Japan as a missionary's son.

Mark plans to take bis family to Japan

to enter a "Campus Ministry" in
Tokyo and August, 1975 i^" their

departure date.

Mark's parents,

Javpan arranged for the Ohayo Singers

to tou2' Japan during the Sumioer of
1970.

This first hand contact v.-ith

the 5 needs of Japan challemged Mark

and Lynn and they have dedicated their

talents to service in Japan.

Mark tells his story:" From the

time I was 9 or 10 I v;anted to 'get

ux-> there and preach like "Dad.' On
top of that forsLioat desire I felt

that it v/as necessary to do it in a

country where the st >ry of Jesus had
not boen bold so ofter) and in some

X>laces never.

After getting to know

the country of Japan and grov/ing to

love her people my feeling ^v'a3 that

I would go back to her some day to

work.

Staying away from Japanese

people for a while( during college

years) made me sense a deeper

desire to return again.

In 1970

I was thrilled to he able to go to

Japan for the Summer.

Then, the

need for the spreading of the

Gospel there hit me even harder

and compelled me to begin plans

to come back.

I felt that the youth

were the ones to reach v/ith the

talents tliat God had given to me.

Hot long after that ray parents in

Japan suggested that if v/e wanted

to they couj.d begin the groundwork

for a Campus Ministry near Tokyo.
We said ' Sure' and nmi we are

doing our best to prepare ourselves

for fields that need to be haivested."

Lynn adds her line;" In August after

my graduation from high school, I still

didn't know what I was going to do

that Pall.

I finally decided

at thh

last minute to go to G.B.S. - but I

really didn't know why.

I started on

a Christian Education degree, because

I thought that would be useful.

Japan as a member of the Ohayo Singers.

It seened strange for me - I had

lived for 19 years in the same house
in the same little town; now, I was

The Lord has helped in these

plans.

For the first time, the

University of Cincinnati offered

Japanese this year.

one year of language study behind me
