Vision
Become educational institution, research and community service in the field of studies of
Francophone countries in general, and France in particular, which is leading nationally, regionally, and
internationally.
Mission
Developing education and research in the field of French language and culture, and different
aspects of Francophone cultures in general and France in particular;
Producing expert graduates who are reliable and trustworthy in the mastery of French and
the ability to examine various aspects of Francophone cultures in general and France in
particular;
Implementing community service to improve Indonesian public knowledge about
Francophone countries in general and France in particular.

Able to analyze prose, plays, poetry, and French and Francophone films/cinemas using
various French literature and culture methods/approaches;
g. Able to analyze the development of the cultural history of French and Francophone
society in its context of time.
h. Able to analyze the symptoms of language using basic concepts of linguistics in translation,
preparation of dictionaries, and discourse review.
4. Other Competencies
a. Demonstrate the use of information and communication technology (ICT);
b. Demonstrate of critical thinking, creative, and innovative, and have the intellectual
curiosity to solve the problem at individual or group level;
c. Able to use well oral and written language in Indonesian and English for academic

Content
France is one of the oldest nation in the world. This course gives an introduction to French history
from its early civilization, the emerging of Frank people and Roman occupation, French kingdom
during Medieval Ages, renaissance era, and modern French republic. We will discuss the
transformation of civilization by using hands-on learning. It will also introduce students to the
iconography and visual manifestations of the French historical landscape.
Learning Outcome
Knowledge and understanding of the French history and civilization
Ability to express every steps of the transformation and every crucial moments that changed
history of France

Content
An introduction to the central Greek myths and the fundamental ideas about human life explored in
them. Students are intended to explore them through the examination of the literature and art of said
cultures. The course is intended to cast light on various aspects of classical Greek culture, some quite
alien today, many still resonant in modern times, but we shall also pay equal attention to the
interesting problem of how ancient mythical bear meaning and even a kind of truth not only for those
who once actually believed them but for us today.
Learning Outcome
Knowledge and understanding of the Greek mythology
Ability to express the influences of Greek mythology on modern contemporary cultures as
basic foundation of culture study in French culture.

Content
This course looks at contemporary French society in the context of an increasingly globalized culture
and economy. The module analyses recent attempts to defend, redefine and adapt key aspects of
French cultural life in order to negotiate ways of living in an era of globalization. The material for the
course focuses on key debates around globalization: the national and the local versus the global;
traditional family reconstruction; recent migration phenomenon and national identity; the
contemporary redefinition and possible continued significance of established French values and
cultural practices; and the problems associated with maintaining a distinctively French social model in
the face of globalization.

Content
This course focus on French public institutions (government, education, politics, economy, labor,
media etc.), how French political institutions and its organs work to serve its citizens, with emphasize
on the presidency; political parties; parliamentary system, immigration as national issue, and identity
in contemporary French culture. This course will help students to grasp notions of French society today
by studying the roots and the development of the main institutions of French political life.

This course is designed to offer a concise introduction and review key aspects of French and
Francophone society and culture. Topics will include essential social and cultural features (festivals,
customs, traditions, etiquette, colloquialisms, way of life, leisure, etc.). Major events that have
contributed to the shaping of the country will also be presented and their significance discussed. The
role and place of the regions within national context, national identity will be examined, so as to
understand the correlation of distinct regional characteristics with related national developments.

with emphasize the development of European Union and how it deal with current socio-cultural
phenomenon in Europe and within its country member. Student will have chances to analyze critical
thinking on subjects related to European Union as an institution larger than a country in Europe and
how its decisions influenced its citizens.

This course is an advanced course in research. Students will have opportunity to implement their
knowledge of French and Francophone culture that they have studied in semesters earlier, creating a
appropriate culture research. Students can choose three of research topic. There are three research
topics: linguistics, literature, and history and civilization. Students asked to create a research and
present it individually in class. At the end of semester, students gathered their research in a form of
research proposal.
