1988 1989
COURSES
Developed course titled Material and Energy Balances for outreach students.
Designed and developed graduate courses on multiphase flow and heat transfer; modified
the materials to develop a Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) certified short course with
1.6 continuing education unit for industry professionals.
Developed and delivered 25% of a graduate course, Energy 280 (Production Topics in Petrl.
Eng. Fluid/Heat Flow in Wellbores), Stanford University, May 13 May 23, 08.
INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE
Consulted for
Hess, Houston, TX; 2010 Present. Developed novel technology for estimating production rate
from wellhead pressure/temperature data that is helping Hess monitor gas production in many fields.
InnerGeo, Corpus Christi, TX: 2011 Present. Modeled energy extraction in a novel geothermal
well to estimate maximum available energy and to design wellbore to optimize energy extraction.
Chevron, Houston, TX: 1990 2010. Pioneered work on modeling transient momentum, heat, and
mass transport in wellbores that allows better analysis of transient tests and better design of surface
facilities for wells. Developed more accurate models for wellbore flowing fluid temperature, formation
temperature distribution, static earth temperature from mud circulation temperature, and multiphase flow.
Imperial Oil, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, 1998 1999. Estimated pressure loss for wet steam flow;
recommended flow meter location on a piping network.
