APRIL 6th, 2010 - SPECIAL MEETING

Council President Murphy called the meeting to order at 6:34 pm and read the
Open Public Meetings Statement:

The notice requirements provided for in the “Open Public Meetings Act” have
been satisfied. Notice of this meeting was properly given in a notice which was
transmitted to the Times of Trenton and the Trentonian, filed with the Clerk of the
Township of Ewing and posted in the Ewing Township Municipal Complex, all on
the 30th day of March, 2010.

PURPOSE

The Special Meeting was called to discuss the 2010 fiscal year introduced budget, to
consider amendments to the budget, and to conduct such other business relevant to
the budget as Council deems necessary. Formal action will be taken.

FY 2010 BUDGET

Mr. Steinmann opened the discussion by presenting a number of changes to the


introduced budget. These including funding the three volunteer fire companies at
$190,000 apiece, increasing the salary for crossing guards from $15/hour to
$16/hour and making a larges number of reductions in various line item throughout
the budget. All Council members discussed the suggestions.

The net result was an overall reduction of $283,781.44.

These changes were incorporated into a proposed amendment submitted by the


Administration which adjusted a number of revenue items, increased salary and
overtime allocations and reduced the total payments to ELSA.

Mr. Steinmann moved a resolution to amend the budget in accord with his
proposals, seconded by Ms. Wollert.

STATEMENTS AND COMMENTS FROM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC

Kate Tuttle (8 Locke Ct) and Charles Green (979 Bear Tavern Road) commented on
the amendments to the budget.

There being no further business, President Murphy called for a motion to adjourn.
Mr. Summiel so moved, seconded by Ms. Wollert. The meeting was adjourned at
9:55 pm.
