SMS BASED RTC BUS INFORMATION SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION
The main objective of the project SMS based RTC bus enquiry system is to get the information
of the buses and their location of the buses. With this application we can enquiry the availability
of the buses and their locations through SMS. It saves the time and reduces the manual work. No
need to go to bus station to enquiry about the buses and their locations.
Importance of Bus services:
Buses take up over 90% of public transport in Indian cities, and serve as a cheap and
convenient mode of transportation for all classes of society. Services are mostly run by state
government owned transport corporations. However, after the economic linearization, all those
government state transport corporations have introduced various facilities like low-floor
buses for the disabled and air-conditioned buses to attract private car owners to help decongest
roads.
EXISTING SYSTEM:
We unable to enquiry about the buses and their locations from anywhere and anytime.
It takes lot of time to enquiry by going to bus station.
Bus stations do not have sufficient staff to explain about bus timings, the procedure for
bookings, etc
Bus stations are not using latest technology like sms based services to the passengers.
PROPOSED SYSTEM:
With this web application we can enquiry about the buses and their locations. We get the
response immediately through sms for our request. It saves lot of time and money.

 Where the passengers are able to know the precise location and arrival time of the bus
several minutes before and ticket fare along with the bus route through SMS.

The bus details like its Make its registered number, number of seats and the category namely
Express, Semi Luxury, Luxury Volvo and sleeper class buses are stored in the database. The
arrangement of seats is shown graphically or in virtual reality mentioning the number of seats
Window seat or Aisle seat front or back or middle of the bus and ticket fare for the queried
destination can also be stored in the database.
Bus location
The Bus location consists of data pertaining to the timings of the bus its locations enhanced by
GPRS systems coupled with the central database its expected arrival and departure in real time
basis are provided to the users through SMS to a central dedicated number which is linked to the
central database.

USER REGISTRATION SYSTEM

Register
The user has to register in the system by giving preliminary information through the site or
through an APP which should be downloaded and activated on his mobile.
Login
Login can be allowed after registration made by user. The login consists of USER ID and a
PASSWORD generated by the user and saved in the database.
View the bus details and locations
Once inside the website after login various tabs are mentioned as user interface like Name of
the service its destination from and to Tariffs arrival and departure of the queried bus service
present location expected arrival and departure seating position reservation vacancy position.
