SUFFOLK CHAPTER NEWS

March 2016

From the Chapter Chairmans Desk

My Dear Brother Knights,

I would like to thank Bill Murphy for doing a great job on the Day of
Recollection. I would also like to thank Tom Hummel for providing Our Lady of
Grace Council to us as the location. Last but not least I would like to thank
Fr. Stephen Donnelly for providing his spiritual guidance. Although I was unable to
attend, I understand that it was a very successful and rewarding experience.
Gene Johann has planned a great golf outing. It will be held at Port
Jefferson Country Club on Monday April 11th. Dinner will be provided by
Lombardis on the Sound, and the cost is $160.00 per golfer. It should be a very
enjoyable day. Dont forget to sign up for this, you wont be disappointed. If you are
unable to attend, sponsor signs are available for purchase. Please refer to the flyer
in this issue.
As you know Paul Basileo and his team are hard at work on our current
Charity Drive. Please give them your full support to make this fund raiser a
success. They would appreciate any assistance that you can provide, whether it is
selling Charity Drive Books or Soliciting ads for our journal, and dont forget to
make your reservations for the Charity Ball on June 26th.
Please see Joe Tumminello for your 300 Club ticket. The 300 Club is
designed to consistently replenish the funds to sustain the FAC program so please
purchase a number so that we can get this program off the ground. The tickets are
$50.00 each, but if you cant afford one on your own, chip in with some of your
friends. We need to have funds available to assist our brother Knights and Sister
Columbiettes in financial distress.
The joint Knights and Columbiettes Communion Breakfast will be held on
April17th at St. Sylvesters 9:00 am mass. The tickets are $12.00 per person. A
new unwrapped baby gift would be appreciated to be donated to Birthright. Please
see John Joseph for details.
Last but not least Our Fraternal Weekend is upon us. If you havent already
done so please make your reservations with Tom Romano. Those who attended
last year said that they had a FABULOUS time.
The details for the above mentioned functions can be obtained on the
individual flyers listed at the end of this Chapter Bulletin, or by calling the Chairmen
listed.
Congratulations to all of the councils who recently received their C&B
bonus checks. As Suffolk Coordinator of C&B, and on behalf of the New York
State Council, I would like to thank you so very much for your
participation and wish you even greater success in the
upcoming C&B season.
Our March Meeting will be on the 11th at St. Josephs
Council #4810 in Greenlawn. Hope to see all of you there.
We are in desperate need of a location for our April
meeting. Please call me if your council is able to host.
Our May meeting is going to be held on the THIRD
FRIDAY, May 20th at Cabrini Council in Coram.
Remember, ALL Chapter meetings are on the 2nd Friday of
each month. Any changes will be prominently posted.

Prayer to Saint Patrick

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, and in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

Prayer to St. Joseph

Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is
so great, so strong, so prompt before the
throne of God. I place in you all my
interests and desires.
Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your
powerful intercession, and obtain for me
from your divine Son all spiritual blessings,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So that,
having engaged here below your heavenly
power, I may offer my thanksgiving and
homage to the most loving of Fathers.
Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary of
contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in
your arms; I dare not approach while He
reposes near your heart. Press Him in my
name and kiss His fine head for me and ask
him to return the Kiss when I draw my
dying breath.
St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls Pray for me.

In 1954, lobbying by the Order of the Knights of Columbus

helped convince the U.S. Congress to add the phrase "under
God" to the Pledge of Allegiance. President Dwight
Eisenhower wrote to Supreme Knight Luke E. Hart thanking
the Knights for their "part in the
movement to have the words 'under God'
added to our Pledge of Allegiance."
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United

Prayer for the Canonization of Father Michael J. McGivney

God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an
apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his
life and virtue may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up
his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we
may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your servant
Father Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor
I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father.
