ENGINEERING
PROJECTS

SENIOR CAPSTONE PROJECT, LINCOLN, NE

Tension Measurement Device, May 2015 July 2015
Designed a tension measurement device for Hexagon Lincoln, an advanced manufacturer of carbon
composite Type 4 pressure vessels.
Successfully developed design to measure tension of individual carbon fiber tows, prior to being wound
onto a vessel, in order to detect discontinuities in stress, and reduce the odds of catastrophic failure.
Addressed challenges imposed by production processes, size constraints, and integration of the device
into production through design reviews with the Hexagon engineering department.
Measured tension using geometry and a low capacity single point load cell with a 0.3 sensitivity.
Contributed to all phases of the design process, 3d modeling, FEA and detailed drawings, with GD&T,
done using SolidWorks 2015.
MECHANICAL DESIGN I PROJECT, LINCOLN, NE
Washing Machine, February 2015 May 2015
Engineered a washing machine with regards to function, efficiency, DFX, ergonomics, and consumer needs.
Constructed functional decomposition diagram, project schedule, FMEA, Design Structure Matrix, 3d
models, bill of materials, and detailed drawings of machine components.
Researched, analyzed, and adapted electrical features and controls for the washing machine.

PROFESSIONAL BOSCH, LINCOLN, NE

EXPERIENCE Manufacturing Engineer Intern, April 2015 November 2015

Designed production tooling and fixtures in accordance with accepted practices and company standards.
Researched and compared alternative solutions, and chose the most viable option based on the project.
Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills in creating, editing, and
maintaining engineering drawings, product work instructions, test procedures and other production
documents.
Reduced waste in production through continuous improvements. Improvement tasks included lean
kitting, process standardization, production changes, layout, process confirmations and time studies.
Consulted with people in multiple departments to uncover and solve issues with production processes or
equipment, find information, and to communicate or implement changes to production processes.
Repaired and calibrated production equipment. Ensured all production equipment met standards.
Led an assignment to compile, organize, and validate a large quantity of employee training data.
Conferred with others and proposed methods to improve team effectiveness for all phases of the project.
Presented and promoted designs to engineers and managers.

SHERBURN TRUCKING, LINCOLN, NE
