theseclericsposingasmele,anArabicwordusedbyKurdsin
Turkeytorefertohighlyrespectedmullahs,mayhaveasecret
agendainthepredominantlyKurdishregionsoftheSoutheast.
TheseIranianclericsaimtobuildstrongerbondsbetweenAnatolian
AlevismandIranianShiiteideology,eventhoughthereisno
resemblancebetweenthetwo.Thisisnotoutofbrotherlyloveor

conflictbetweenAlevisandSunnisinTurkey.Heunderlinedthatthe
recentGeziParkdemonstrationsarealsopartofIran'sattemptsto
stirupsectarianagitationinTurkey.HesaidIranhassetupthree
associationsandonefoundationinTurkeythatlookasiftheyare
Aleviorganizations.ButtheyhavenothingtodowithAlevisociety.
WhattheydoistakeAlevidedestoIran'scityofQumtousethemfor
theirplans,heexplained.
AllthisindicatesthattheTurkishgovernmentshouldbemorevigilant
thaneveroverIranianactivitiesandhastentheprocessof
addressingAlevidemands,includingtherecognitionoftheirplacesof
worship(cemevi)andtheprovisionoffairsharesubsidiesfrom
taxpayers'money.Alevis,whonumberover10million,shouldbe
abletoestablishandtraintheirownclergyandthegovernment
shouldprovidefinancialsupportforthat.Atthesametime,the
TurkishgovernmentmusttalktoughwiththeIraniangovernmentand
makeclearthatthesesubversiveactivitiesofIranianintelligencecan
nolongerbetolerated.
