now. We're close to Obirin and it's a big
enough house that we can have guests and
not be cramped. On top of this we have
the added luxuries of being within walk
ing distance of both the train station
and a supermarket that sells American

products. The rent of $210 a month,though

more than we really wanted to pay, is
still reasonable for a house in Tokyo.
We want to say "Thank you" to regular
contributors and those who sent special
giftsall of which made this move pos

"Oh, my wife has some Bibles. She's very
interested in Christianity." A little

Lynn, "Is

Jesus in

America?" These are teaching opportuni

ties in addition to our plans for Obirin
whose students will begin their school
year in mid-April.
Karis is three now, she will proudly
tell you. She received cards and gifts in
the mail every day for almost a week. And
we had a big trip to a nearby zoo as a
special

treat for the

occasion.

Karis

Dear friends,

Spring still brings big events for the Pratt family.

This year Mary

Joyce and Rick Coyle (Lydia's husband) will both graduate from the Univer
sity of Cincinnati, he with an economics degree and she with one in Eng
lish Literature, Paul Dayid, too, will graduate with a law degree from
California Western and then take the California bar exams this summer.

We

truly wish them each "Omedeto gozaimasu!"

There are more signs qf progress at Isehara.

Kiyomi Oshima, a

girl

who is entering the seventh grade this.spring was baptized on March l5th.
Often times community people act as though they want to avoid the church
or the missionary. But this has become impossible. A big sign at the sta
tion and one at the intersection near the church invites

them.

Chimes of

gospel songs ring out three times a day. Besides, local busses pass by the
church going and coming 110 times a day. When the tape recorded announce
ment of the bus stop is given it continues, "All who wish to go to Sannobara Church of Christ should get off here." The church also reached out to

others in 1975* sending one-fourth of its income to foreign missions.

Paul & wife Mary

Thanks for praying for us to be given additional places to serve.

We

have been invited by Mrs. Exie Fultz to bring a message in Japanese on the

third Sunday of each month kt Kyodo, Tokyo. So, Mark and local leaders at
Isehara will be supplying for me on the first and third Sundays when I

go

to Zushi and Kyodo.
