Living free as the image of God

The highest attribution of nature/supernature possible in the universe, when 
‘God’ is what we name ‘first cause’, ‘ultimate reality’ and perpetually self‐
sustaining and replicating Life that is the source of all that is, is that one was/is 
‘created in the image of God’. What could be higher than that as your source 
point, as the quintessential description of the nature of your being?  
Created “in the image of God" is a line bequeathed to us from antiquity and is 
found in one of the oldest texts in the known world, included in the Christian 
Bible where it is named “Genesis”(1). It contains a vital truth largely hidden from 
us in the smoke‐filled hall of a thousand mirrors of manufactured and stage‐
managed ‘reality’; a world that is mediated by forces that seek to keep it’s truth 
confine to the awareness of a powerful few, while the masses remain in chains, 
their birthright stolen from them by systems of subjugation and control. 
If the whole of literature, culture and technology were to suddenly be none‐
existent and, presupposing the survival of some human children, some kind of 
concept of the word ‘God’ as meaning ‘source and end of all that is’, and of 
literacy (to be able to read the text, of course), this one line could have the power 
to kick‐start the re‐evolution of man.  
This concept—that man is the image of God—is the single most powerful 
concept ever to have found itself in human consciousness.  

It gives man IDENTITY: Whatever the source of the universe is, man is that. 
Whatever it is that brought the sun into being and causes it to run its cosmic 
course faithfully, man is that. Whatever it is that holds the molecules of hydrogen 
and oxygen together and makes of them the life‐sustaining miracle we call water: 
man is that. That, in essence. God is. So man is. 

Does that define man? Yes it does. As that self‐aware expression of all that is that 
is conscious of its being in time‐space here, now. And yet at the same time it 
doesn’t, because it only expresses the beginning of our consciousness in this 
time‐space stream. The bulk of what we are, is hidden—and unknown to us here 
and now—in the infinite dimensions and realities of our point of origin, which 
we have named God. 
The concept—man is the image of God—gives man AGENCY: man has the power 
to do, to initiate and to create. It is a power that comes by virtue of man’s very 
being and is not something that has to be installed like software or programmed 
into him. Nor is man’s agency something that has to be sanctioned or permitted 
by anybody. It just is. God is a verb. So is man. God does. So man does. God is 
force expressed. Active. Relentless. Creative. Ever generating.  
It also gives man SOVEREIGNTY: The inalienable right to be who and what man 
is, without needing to explain that away or to ask any other being’s permission to 
be that which man is. The right to bear sole responsibility for choice and the 
consequences of said choice and to make said choice free of coercion or undue 
influence.  
Some people have hang‐ups about the word ‘created’ and use it to emphasize 
differentiation from God—using it to put distance between God and man rather 
than as an expression of the beginning of the consciousness of this unique 
expression of Universal life that is as verily what it’s source is as it’s source is.

So in today’s language, to be created in the image of God is to be brought into 
existence as the personification of God, a double, an exact replica of the content 
of the hard disk that drives the intelligence of the universe, that intelligence 
which we have named God.  

The truth is, once brought into being one is what one is. To continue to be hung 
up on the MEANS by which one has come into being (expressed in excessive 
emphasis on the word ‘created’, and thus hiding in the sheath of being a 
‘creature’ by definition—which simply means ‘a living being’) is an expression of 
‘insecurity programming’. It is to hide in fear from facing the truth of one’s being, 
a fear strategically instilled to lock down aspiration and freedom of agency and 
crush sovereignty by those who would exploit the biological/material/physical 
output of this plane.  A fear instilled to rob you of your power to be, to act, to 
reign!  
By indoctrination and suppression you have forgotten the essence of who you 
are, and have been fragmented, worn down with guilt and shame, made to feel 
damaged and helpless and alone. This has been done deliberately, in order to 
make the harnessing and exploitation of your energy easier. 
To recap: You are. Get over the how already! You are the image of God, whether 
you were created, manufactured or burped into existence. The essence of the 
image is the essence of the reality. The content of God has been copied into man. 
You’re a double of the maker of the Universe. You are God perceived. You are 
God manifested in time and space. It couldn’t be any plainer. 
No wonder this truth is diluted to no end! Man is the master of this time‐space 
universe. He’s the head honcho in this dimension. All 6 billion of him! What 
would it be like if this truth were embraced by all of him? What kind of world 
would we all be living in? The vast majority of man’s emanations (individuals) 
are convinced that someone else is the master of this universe, this plane, this 
dimension, and embody that someone else in a chief, a king, a system, a god—
who alone must/can have ultimate identity, agency and sovereignty. Their cry 
seems to be: “To be ultimately responsible to myself? Somebody rule over me!!” 
And nature, true to her laws, answers, and tyranny is born. For if you will not 
rule over yourself, someone else will. 

Man finds himself de­manned. Dethroned from his seat of power as destiny‐
shaper and sovereign witness, explorer, thinker, doer, and given a limited, 
diminished cameo role in the epic that is his life story, while center stage is left to 
masked, insincere, character‐ and talent‐less executive‐types or hollow, vacuous 
‘stars’, who reap from his sweat, and enrich themselves without shame from his 
life essence: his consciousness, converting it to money and things and living 
lavishly off his time‐limited physical, biological and mental resources. 

His being is reduced to a unit of production, as the best years of his life are stolen 
from him as he is indoctrinated into believing that the reason he is here is to 
render dedicated service to the abstraction that is the system, the master. ‘The 
world’ works a certain way. That ‘way’ is one. And the person that knows what 
that one way is, is the man whose face you never see. So all you need to do is 
allow the faceless man to direct your affairs, decide on your placement within 
the system, hone and shape you accordingly and promise you some big, future 
reward for having been a ‘good, contributing and upstanding member of society’.  
What do you call a person who has no identity, no right to agency and no 
sovereignty? A slave. Deprive generation after generation of these things over 
and over, and suppress individuality, original thought and freedom to do what 
they will, and what do you have? Unquestioning, obedient, conditioned slaves. 
Make them dependent on you for their identity, for permission to act, prescribe 
their do’s and don’ts and limit their choices, and what do you have? Slaves. 
Reward or punish them according to whether they tow the line or not: Slaves. 
Suppress the natural response to being told what to do (asking ‘why?’), have all 
the answers and make questioning ‘sin’ and blind obedience a mark of ‘faith’ and 
what do you have? Slaves. We are a civilization of slaves. Enslaved on many 
different levels. Some slaves getting bigger salaries and riding bigger chariots, 
but slaves nonetheless.  
In Christian theology the incarnation of the Christ had one core purpose: ‘to 
proclaim freedom for the captives’ (2). Considering the impact of Jesus Christ on 
the fabric of our space‐time consensual reality (as evinced in the widespread use 
of B.C. and A.D. as time markers—though there’s been a growth in the use of C.E. 
in the place of A.D.) and the worldwide celebration of Easter, Christmas and 
ritualized weekly Christ worship, the question begs to be answered: Has the 
Christ’s mission been accomplished?  
The answer: Not for as long as the only way this liberty is being perceived and 
experienced is ‘in spirit’. The myth of separation between ‘spiritual life’ and 
‘physical life’, just like the fictitious Newtonian splitting of ‘mind’ and ‘body’, is 
leading millions down a path of enlightened slavery, through controlled, 
regulated, placating, ‘spiritualized’ religion. Polarization of the ‘spiritual’ and the 
‘physical’ is making hypocrites of millions and forcing many to give up on belief 
in God, as the ‘fruit of the spirit’ (3) is stunted by the realities of life on the 
physical plane. 
To keep the masses looking to a sweet by and by as the time when this liberty 
will be fully enjoyed when the here and now is the reality into which Jesus came 
to set the captive free is to hold the carrot before the mule. It is a clever ploy to 
give the illusion of hope for liberation in the future while harvesting the ‘real’ 
output of man’s activities on the physical plane in the present. 

Liberation must take place in the same dimension as the captivity that 
necessitated the liberation to begin with. If I’m in bondage here—socially, 
mentally, emotionally, physically, then only a liberation that takes place here—
social, mental, emotional, physical—is of any consequence to my experience here 
and now. No matter how good dreaming of the future makes me feel, and how 
many pretty pictures I paint of what it will be like when freedom is mine, I am 
not dwelling in that future, and promissory notes are of no use to me.  

Spiritual life and physical life is the same life. To be spiritually ‘free’ and yet 
‘physically’ ‘socially’ and ‘mentally’ bound is not freedom. To be ‘spiritually’ free 
and yet not be reconciled to your core identity as the image of God, to be 
‘spiritually free’ and not have autonomous agency—wherein you act 
independently and freely; to be ‘spiritually’ free and not have the right to 
exercise your personal sovereignty—to make your own decisions in EVERY 
sphere of your life; is no freedom from captivity. It is merely to dwell in a golden 
cage.

All these are expressions of the simple truth that has been staring you in the face 
all along. All of them reminders of a long forgotten reality: You inhabit a universe 
of your own making. In it, you have ultimate power, agency and sovereignty. All 
limitations are perceptions.  All perceptions are illusions. The only thing that has 
ever and always been real is the One out of which the one reading these words 
became aware of space and time. 
To be truly free is to recognize the illusion of separation between mind and body, 
soul and spirit. To be truly free is to start the reintegration of the parts into the 
one, whether on a micro‐ or macro‐cosmic level. To be truly free is to be walking 
the earth as the sovereign of your universe; to be a mature man or woman, living 
without shame, celebrating the goodness that was created when the earth was 
brought forth. To be truly free is to be who you are, most excellently and without 
apology. To be truly free is to do what you will in expression of that being, 
without repression and in love; and to make up your own mind and expand your 
dominion with absolute freedom. Walk into the freedom that is yours, liberated 
by the spirit of the Christ. 
 Rouse yourself, sleeping one. Be a slave no longer. It is time to take back the keys 
to the Kingdom. What are you waiting for? Permission?
