Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences

contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

WHAT ARE THE FUNDAMENTALS OF THE FAITH?

First of all the word fundamental means that which relates to a supporting
existence or determining essential structure or function. It is that without which a thing
or a system would not be what it is.
In this case, we are addressing ourselves to the fundamental structure of Salvation
and not peripheral events as important as they may be. In other words, we are addressing
ourselves to that which one must believe in order to be Saved (Jn. 3:3, 16).

JESUS IS GOD
In order to be Saved, the sinner must believe that Jesus Christ is God (Isa. 7:14; Jn.
1:1-5; 5:26; 6:35; 7:29; Eph. 1:2-3).
To believe in Jesus as merely a good Man, or a Prophet, or even a Miracle-Worker, is
not enough. One must know and understand that Jesus is God.

JESUS IS THE ONLY SAVIOUR

One must understand that Jesus Alone can cave.
Peter said, Neither is there Salvation in any other: for there is none other Name
under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be Saved [Acts 4:12)].
Peter is speaking of . . . Jesus Christ . . . [Acts 4:12].

Jesus is not One among several saviours, but rather the Only Saviour.

JESUS DIED ON CALVARY TO PAY

THE PRICE FOR MANS REDEMPTION
Whether the unbelieving sinner understands it or not, he has a debt of sin on him
which is AGAINST God (Rom. 3:9-18, 23).
There is no way that man could or can pay that debt; consequently, God literally
became Man, Who we know as Jesus Christ, in order that He might pay the debt for us.
He did so by dying on Calvary, in essence taking our place, providing a Sacrifice which
God would accept. In other words, Jesus died for sinners, which all men are (Rom. 5:8).

MAN MUST KNOW AND UNDERSTAND

THAT HE IS A SINNER
If he does not believe, know, and understand, that he is a sinner, lost without God,
there is no way that he can be Saved. In effect, the fact of man being a sinner, is the cause
of his guilt (Rom. 3:23).
One of the basis problems of humanity is, that man does not want to admit that he is a
sinner, and, consequently, in dire need of a Saviour, Who Alone is The Lord Jesus Christ.
In fact, this is why the Preaching of the Gospel is so necessary!
The Gospel preached under the Anointing of the Holy Spirit brings conviction to the
sinner, awakening him to his spiritual need (Jn. 16:7-11).

The word Grace means unmerited favor. In other words, man cannot earn,
merit, or do anything that makes himself worthy of this Gift of God. Even though it came
at such price, God freely gives Salvation to believing sinners.
Paul said, For by Grace are ye Save through Faith; and that not of yourselves: it is
the Gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast [Eph. 2:8-9].
So the believing sinner must understand that there is nothing he can do to merit
Salvation, but that it is freely giving to him by God, which refers to the Grace of God.
This is an absolute Fundamental of the Faith.

BELIEVING SINNERS MUST RECEIVE

SALVATION STRICTLY BY FAITH
This simply means that the sinner believes that what Jesus did for him at Calvary and
the Resurrection, a Faith incidentally which must come from the heart, and if he sincerely
believes, he is instantly Saved (Jn. 3:16).
The Truth is, that the believing sinner may not understand very much about what the
Lord has done for him at Calvary, and in fact, at the beginning cannot have much
understand concerning this tremendous thing which has been done in order to save men.
It is not a matter of having great understanding, but rather believing what little that
one does know, which simply means I believe that Jesus died for me.
Thats the reason that Paul said, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raise Him from the dead, thou shalt
be Saved) [Rom. 10:9].

And then he said, For with the heart man believeth unto Righteousness; and with
the mouth confession is made unto Salvation [Rom. 10:10].
That briefly addresses the great Fundamentals of the Faith, which speak of that which one
must believe in order to be Saved.

Of course, there are many peripheral Doctrines, such as the Baptism with the Holy Spirit
with the evidence of speaking with other Tongues, Divine Healing, much teaching concerning
Prophecy, etc.; however, whether one believes absolutely correctly concerning these particular
peripheral Doctrines, while it ma impact their Sanctification, it cannot impart their Justification,
i.e., Salvation, that is, as long as they continue to trust Christ for Salvation, and not their own
good works. etc.
