Interview with nuclear engineer Hiroaki Koide (translation by Prof. Robert Stolz, transcription
by Akiko Anson), published Mar 8, 2016 (emphasis added):
As for the scale of the [Fukushima] accident we simply dont know all the
measuring equipment was destroyed at the time of the accident
The Japanese government has reported estimates [of] 1.510^16 Becquerels of Cs-137,
which would make it a release of 168 times more radioactive material than the Hiroshima
bombing. And this is only material released into the atmosphere
But I myself think the governments numbers are an underestimate. Various experts and
institutes from around the world have offered several of their own estimates some two
or three times higher than the governments numbers. According to these other estimates
I think that the release of Cs-137 into the atmosphere could be around 500 times the
Hiroshima bombing.
What has been washed into the sea is likely not much different from the levels released
into the atmosphere. Even today we are unable to prevent this release. And so if we
combine the amount of Cs-137 released in the air and the ocean together, we get an
estimate several hundred times the Hiroshima levels. And some estimates suggest the
Fukushima accident could be as much as one-thousand Hiroshimas
The amount released into the atmosphere from the explosion during the accident at the
Chernobyl nuclear plant was 800 to 1000 times the Hiroshima levels. Put simply, these
estimates place Fukushima on par with Chernobyl
[T]he radioactive material released from Fukushima has been dispersed across the
globe everyone on earth has been exposed to additional radiation An increase in
cancer will be the result
Not a single nuclear expert or policy maker ever seriously considered the possibility of an
accident like this I had been commenting on the possibility, referring to some results of
simulations. But still I would have thought the kind of disaster that happened at
Fukushima was some kind of impossible nightmareyet it actually happened. It was
like the worse nightmare becoming a reality all those pronuclear people surely never
gave it a moments thought. And so when it actually happened, no one had thought about,
let alone built a system to deal with it.
Asia-Pacific Journal, Mar 2016: As we learn in this wide-ranging and important interview [with
Hiroaki Koide], the accident often referred to as 3/11 was enormous and in many ways
unprecedented. The full scope of the disaster is still unknown, but is clearly on the scale of
Chernobyl, placing the amount of radioactive material released up to 1,000 times the
Hiroshima bombing of 1945.

When the fuel rods were no longer getting the required coolant, the elements
separated fractionally as the production of pu was increasing. To better quantify
the releases, one needs to know the history of the fuel in terms of age and
temperatures before the material throw themselves apart. My feeling is we will
never know the truth regarding the important technical data.

its a little dissapointing that this late stage of the catastrophe, wildly
different release amounts are given. Based on what looked like a good
paper to me, the estimate is close to 10,000 Hiroshima bombs with
ongoing albeit much smaller leaks.
Heres one sudy.I will have to go back and dig; takes time
"In this study, the emissions of the three fission products Cs-137, I-131
and Xe-133 are investigated. Regarding Xe-133, the total release is
estimated to be of the order of 6 1018 Bq emitted during the explosions
of units 1, 2 and 3. The total source term estimated gives a fraction of core
inventory of about 8 1018 Bq at the time of reactors shutdown. This
result suggests that at least 80 % of the core inventory has been released
into the atmosphere and indicates a broad meltdown of reactor cores. Total
atmospheric releases of Cs-137 and I-131 aerosols are estimated to be
1016 and 1017 Bq, respectively. By neglecting gas/particulate conversion
phenomena, the total release of I-131 (gas + aerosol) could be estimated to
be 4 1017 Bq.

Busby's estimate, at one point;
Dr. Chris Busby, said tests run at the respected Harwell
Radiation Laboratory in England demonstrate the airborne
radiation in Japan is 1,000 times higher than radioactive fallout
at the peak in 1963 of H-Bomb detonations by the nuclear powers.
The calculations were on radioactive Cesium 137.
http://www.shoah.org.uk/2011/08/02/fukushima-radiation-1000times-h-bomb-peak/
Busby certifies the poisonous, radioactive Japanese air to be at
least 300 times worse than the air during the Chernobyl nuclear
reactor disaster. Dr Janette Sherman, a highly respected physician
and an acknowledged expert in radiation exposure, has estimated
the world wide Chernobyl Kill to be at least one million people
killed to date. The Chernobyl Disaster occurred April 26, 1986.

Somebody posted this way back when:
The uranium bomb which the United States dropped on
Hiroshima at the end of World War II released 89 tera
becquerels. It killed 140,000 people many instantly,
others within weeks of the blast as they succumbed to
severe radiation burns.
http://voices.yahoo.com/fukushimas-nuclear-disasterradiation-released-was-9025493.html
Using the Greenpeace numbers 10,000 terabecquerels per
hour. (That's 10,000 trillion becquerels, or 10
petabecquerels per hour)
The Hiroshima bomb was 89 terabecquerels of radiation.
10,000 divided by 89 is 112.36. That's equivalent to 112.36
Hiroshima nuclear bombs worth of radiation released per
hour.
The bomb took about .0001-5 minutes to release its'
radiation, but it was a one time event. Fukushima is
ongoing, with the radiation being divided between oceanic
and atmospheric dispersion.
So, a rough estimate is that Fukushima is spewing the
equivalent of 112 Hiroshima-type nuclear bombs worth of
radiation every hour, of every day.
Thats 981,120 atomic bombs a year going off worth of
radiation into our biosphere."
At 5 years, that's roughly the equivalent of 4,905,600
nuclear bombs that have gone off.
And this is only until the next few blow within a few years.

Stock, it has been noted that Nichols compares his high
weekly figures, derived from sophisticated equipment, with
'normal' readings from less sensitive equipment; which ain't
fair. But in private correspondence he expresses the fear, in
effect, that humanity's future has been irrevocably,
inescapably ruined by the nuclear industry. Could his
jiggling the figures mean that he is screaming wake-up
people, rather than shilling for the nukes?
Also, the actual radioactivity that any one of us is now
exposed to is unknowable, but the prospect of encountering
dangerous radionuclides is omnipresent, and growing, so in
that sense Nichols' figures seem like an apt metaphor, even
if not precise and unfairly presented.
Or Stock, do you have other evidence for Nichols as nukeshill?
Cheers.

The atomic bombing at Hiroshima is a common Fukushima measuring stick (1,000?
5,000? 10,000?).
But in an analysis comparing it to a full meltdown of three massive nuclear reactors and
exposure of their spent fuel rods? It's a bandaid of a tiny scratch comparison compared to
the total four appendage loss at Fukushima.
Hiroshima mostly recovered from the effects of radiation poisons and was rebuilt. Life
does well there now except for the oldest victims and birth defects inflicted on the
children and grandchildren of survivors. Their grief is their own, inflicted deliberately by
the Americans as final payback for Pearl Harbor and to end the war in days after the
second and final hydrogen bomb was dropped at Nagasaki.
Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (or rather the still very dangerous wrecked
megaplex) will be deadly like Chernobyl for millions of years. The longevity makes a
comparison to Hiroshima ludicrous unless you add many, many more zeros. 1 million
Hiroshimas? I can live with that estimate. 1 billion human lives affected or killed
prematurely. But in the scope of trillions of sea creatures gone missingeven 1 million
Hiroshimas is a lowball estimate.

Belrad..Irradiation in Children
Doses recived by Children are 3 10 times higher than by adults. This is a catastrophe
because Children are in mitsosis, every damaged cell gives the damage to other cells,
more rapidly. The latency is shorter in Children (1 4 years / adults: 20 25 years). By
Vassily Nesterenko Atomic phsyicist and liquidator of Chernobyl and founder of
BELRAD Institute:
..For 15 years, they have eaten contaminated food. Children receive the highest doses,
because the dose coefficients, in a 3 year old child, are 5 times higher than in adults.
Contaminate food spreads like locusts In the whole Republic. It is not surprising to find
in Minsk, children with a dose load of 700-900 Bq/kg.
I want to draw your attention on the research of Prof. Bandazhevsky. We worked with
him. He came to the conclusion that 50 Bq/kg bodyweight in children, represent a
threshold where pathologies appear in vital organs like kidneys, liver, heart and others. I
want to say that today the health of children is such that if we do not take urgent
measures, I cannot see good prospects for our children.
When we try to eliminate the high sickness rate by an increased number of clinics well
never succeed. Unfortunately, we are losing time for study because to do something it is
necessary to understand the reasons and consequences of the sickness rather than
regularly declare slogans or launch some campaigns

Some of the effects on children:
"Thyroid cancers related to Chernobyl started appearing only three to four years
post-accident (over 92,000 have now been diagnosed). Yet only 12 months postaccident in the Fukushima Prefecture, 36% of 38,000 children under 18 have been
diagnosed by ultrasound with thyroid cysts or nodules (most of these lesions
should be biopsied to exclude malignancy). This short incubation time would
indicate that these children almost certainly received a very high dose of thyroid
radiation from inhaled and ingested radioactive iodine."

Fukushima Is SOOOO Over.
(Sarc)
Apparently there are is little to be discussed, five years after multiple nuclear power
plants blew up in Japan.
Hiroshima Syndrome is a pro-nuclear appologist site.
Read the first half dozen items on the current home page.
http://www.hiroshimasyndrome.com/fukushima-accident-updates.html
See the pattern here?
Evacuation wasn't necessary.
Radiation levels have fallen.
No cesium is found in the fish.
Radiation fears aren't justified.
When in reality
3 reactors melted through, with corium likely in the ground.
3 missing molten nuclear cores haven't even been located.
Iodine-131, a short-lived isotope, is still present in sewage sludge as far away as Tokyo,
indicating that nuclear fission is still occurring in Fukushima corium, and that the lives of
Tokyo's population of 35 million people are still endangered.

The next person you give sight to may have access to someone very powerful

"Not a single nuclear expert or policy maker ever seriously considered the possibility of
an accident like this no one had thought about, let alone built a system to deal with it."
Really? Seriously? No Nuclear ex-spurt could imagine a melt-down or an explosion due
to earthquake, tsunami, volcanic eruption, terrorist attack or plain old negligence?
Bullsh*t. They were just hoping they would die in their comfortable old age by the time
the inevitable happened. It's now happening, not just Fuku but everywhere these aging

However, none of the genocidal criminals or their willing stooges, aka scientists and

The Fukushima catastrophe did release a large amount of radioactivity into the
environmentinto the air, into the sea, and the ground. We can (or could) measure this
radioactivity, though just because we can measure it doesn't necessarily mean that it's
harmful (with the proper equipment I can detect radioactivity in my own body, in a bunch
of bananas, and in virtually any natural air, water, or soil sample on Earth). But the
scientific consensus seems to be that this radioactivity has not (and likely will not) cause
long-lasting devastation on land or in the sea.

By Les Corrice
It is widely reported that hundreds of tons of highly contaminated Fukushima Daiichi
groundwater pours into the Pacific Ocean every day. But, an objective look at the
evidence tells a completely different story. Its long-past time for the Tokyo Electric
Company (Tepco) and the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) to broadcast the truth
there is no groundwater contamination being released to the Pacific Ocean at F. Daiichi.
There are several reasons why I make this claim with the highest possible confidence.

Fukushima as Debt?
Worker: "In addition the effort to secure cheaper commissions in order to cut down
expenses is also a problem. The government allocates funds to TEPCO for the
management of the nuclear power plant accident, but the money is not a grant. It is a debt
and must be refunded in the future.
Since the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is not expected to generate profit in the
future, it is normal that TEPCO seek to reduce its debt as much as possible.
That is the reason why cutting the budget, reducing the cost, and using lower price
materials for constructions and facilities in the management of the nuclear power plant
accident is the order of the day.
On the ground, there are no such attempts as to gather the brains of the World in order to
effectively deal with the nuclear accident."
..
Worker: "I think that leaks here and there are a normal thing".
Are you serious? Why?
Worker: "Because it was a situation of emergency in which a lot of facilities were built in
a rush. After the accident, facilities were being built in such a speedy fashion that it did
not matter if they had to last for only one year or so.
Some constructors have even put the sentence Quality is not guaranteed in the contract.
Facilities built and supposed to last for only one year are still being used. It is normal
that their condition deteriorates"

So the policy was established to feed it to children first to appeal the safety of the food. In
Fukushima Prefecture, 70% of the areas was originally using Fukushima produce in

He asked me if the children at the school had evacuated, and I told him they were in class

would necessitate immediate, mandatory evacuation of the children in Belarus.

I spent hours recently reading thousands of Enenews old posts and researched what a
number of us already knewthere was intense troll/flamer activity over most of the first
four years of Enenews. At times one person played three or more usernames in a few
hours and scores of usernames in all. Like other stalwarts I know the identity of that
worst flamer and now have identified many more of the multiple usernames used by that
black swan event. It is to the credit of the stalwarts of this list that the perpetrators never
achieved the destruction of this newsgroup.
There is power in knowledge and unity. Stay the course and do not be moved to rash
outbursts just because your buttons are pushed. Keep the goals of truthful information

Some of the Enenews stalwarts did not survive to see this 5th anniversary of the most
important news event of the 21st century. They died or fell ill and we will never read
their excellent commentary except in the archives of this news group.

This accusation is easily debunked. Guess Ken dachi doesn't really come

Ken Adachi,Editor of educate-yourself infamy is a Truth Seeker. Wrong!
I can suggest that,in time,Ken will get a big dose of Karma. That is to say
he will reap what he sows. Life is hard even walking in Truth and

imagine what life is like for a Ken Adachi, and others like him(Ken

SP: Blast from the past..our forgotten sailors:
"Navy sailor Lindsay Cooper knew something was wrong when billows of metallictasting snow began drifting over USS Ronald Reagan. She and scores of crewmates
watched a sudden storm blow toward them from the tsunami-torn coast of Fukushima,
Japan. Lindsay didnt know it then, but the snow was caused by the freezing Pacific air
mixing with a plume of radioactive steam. As soon as you step foot on the flight deck
and went outside you had this taste of like aluminum foil. We thought that we had felt a
plume because there was kind of this warm air that went past the ship and you could kind
of tell the differences between jet exhaust we didnt have any jets going around at the
time. It was like 20 degrees outside and you could feel this warm air and you kind of
enjoyed it at first and then youre like, Is that aluminum foil that I taste?
Senior Chief Michael Sebourn, a radiation-decontamination officer, was assigned to test
the aircraft carrier for radiation. The levels were incredibly dangerous and at one point,
the radiation in the air measured 300 times higher than what was considered safe,
Sebourn told The Post. When I interviewed Mike on Nuked Radio over a year later, he
also recalled measuring 60,000 cpm off the helicopter intakes when they came back to
the ship

I don't why they bother to compare Fukus' to any nuke bomb blast. The comparison does
not scale together on any level.
Nuke bomb pits are relatively pure uranium or plutonium with added tritium and other
excitables. In less than a second the chain reaction is complete. An air blast is not
creating buckyballs either.
Fukus' just keeps irradiating everything and creating more radioactive elements or
products since it is not contained.
Worse, Fukus' is at ground level and sending its fallout high into the atmosphere, it keeps
contaminating the surrounding environment. The only thing preventing more local
radioactive contamination is groundwater surrounding and carrying off fallout into the
sea.
Chernobyl is the closest for a disaster comparison, fully exposed to the environment
during its 10 day fire resulting in a million deaths and untold suffering. Fukus' radiation
poisoning is more acute because of more exposure to a local population and at the same
time more latent in its effects being the fallout had to travel across the Pacific before
washing out onto land.
Thyroid problems keep creeping up which is very telling about the true amount of fallout
ejected. Otherwise thyroid problems used to be so rare that they were almost nonexistent
(sans Chernobyl).
Bioaccumalation is only in beginning stages.

I will, once again attempt to relay some thoughts I have had about recent lead in water
stories.
It is not that I think Fukushima's atoms have decayed to lead per se, but rather they
"mimic" lead in certain less sophisticated water tests for lead.
Don't assume that the ppb readings reported are all from the fittings, solder, etc.
There is a lot of stuff in flux, what with all the fracking of late, bringing up millions of
tons of NORMal material into water systems, despite what the industry might tell us.
Who knows.maybe DU dust tests positive as lead too!!!!?
But at the least, the focus on lead is actually a contrived ploy to steer us away from the
awol reactor cores of Fukushima.
Look at the vast sums folks now want to spend on lead testing across the country. Howse
about sum fer rad testing?????
Heck for that matter, I propose a new government agency, dedicated to test for TATAL
shit we dump into the biosphere.
Crowd funding to pay for state of the art mass spectro analysis, etc. Uploaded to a
communal website, showing in real time where:
https://www.epa.gov/toxics-release-inventory-tri-program/tri-listed-chemicals
is replaced by a resource that serves us to the fullest and not some corporate-tainted
whore of an agency (The EPA is a jokeif it were real..we would all know about so
much moreright???)

It sucks.I actually technically worked for the EPA in 1972 while gathering data for the
Wissahickon Watershed in Philly.
Andofcourse their IS no other agency besides NOAA maybe that I feel does a good job.
We have lost our way.
The way forward is us. Screw everybody else.
The problem is.just WHO is us? (hint not The WHO!)

Welcome to the new age, to the new age
You people are way ahead of the critical news curve with ENENews on point
Globalization of risk
Pascale says her findings show the need for the public to be critical consumers of news;
expert knowledge can be used to create misinformation and uncertaintyespecially in
the information vacuums that arise during disasters.
"The mainstream mediain print and onlinedid little to report on health risks to the
general population or to challenge the narratives of public officials and their experts,"
Pascale said. "Discourses of the risks surrounding disasters are political struggles to
control the presence and meaning of events and their consequences. How knowledge
about disasters is reported can have more to do with relations of power than it does with
the material consequences to people's lives."
While it is clear that the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear meltdown was a consequence of an
earthquake and tsunami, like all disasters, it was also the result of political, economic and
social choices that created or exacerbated broad-scale risks. In the 21st century, there's an
increasing "globalization of risk," Pascale argues.

Sheesh, my there was supposed to be after my other 6:38 post as a typo correction, now it
just hangs there in a bizarre fashion.
They're playing with us.
..
We agonize about our world, yet I have a hunch that I will go to my grave knowing that
peace was the hardest lesson humans never learned.
Peace is more than the absence of war.
I bet my soul, that Fukushima was a secret weapons centerand that the US got some of
the goodies from the "nuke" lab.
Why else the silence?
The obfuscation.
If you think only electrons..you are deluded, dumb, or worse.

Fukushima is frozen in reality for fear of change
The Fukushima Endgame: The Radioactive Contamination of the Pacific Ocean
First published in December 17, 2014.
This article by Professor Michel Chossudovsky was granted the 2015 Project
Censored Award.
Ranked No. 5 among the 25 most censored news stories.
Nuclear radiation resulting from the March 2011 Fukushima disaster which threatens
life on planet earth is not front page news in comparison to the most insignificant issues
of public concern, including the local level crime scene or the tabloid gossip reports on
Hollywood celebrities.
The shaky political consensus both in Japan, the U.S. and Western Europe is that the
crisis at Fukushima has been contained.
The truth is otherwise. Known and documented, the ongoing dumping of highly
radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean constitutes a potential trigger to a process of
global radioactive contamination.

What I know, and when I think through the eyes of my grandchildren.
That is when I know, nothing else matters
Each one has to find that. You have Heart. You know.
Motivation to travel further can only come from you.
Know that many would be honored to stand beside you
There are so many many more, who know, who should have spoke up, but didn't.
Maybe they just don't know. I don't see how
