DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITIES

We have provided activities that promote:
A. COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
Name: Sorting
Concept: Recognizing or finding pictures. The point of this activity is to
develop mental activities or the cognitive understanding of preschoolers.
Process:
1. Choose a category pairs like things that happen during day and things that
happen at night.
2. After you have at least about three to five in each category, sort the
pictures.

B. SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
Name: I Think You Are Feeling.

Concept: Reading social cues and develop empathy from fellow classmate.
The point of this game is to help children understand what certain non-verbal
cues like when a person is feeling a certain way and to get them to think
about how they can empathize with people who feel that way.
Process:
1. Have the children split into groups, and give each group a jar with slips in
it.
2. One by one let each child take a turn reaching into the jar to withdraw an
emotion word
3. Have the child pantomime what that feeling looks like
4. Have the other children try to guess what emotion the first child is
modeling.
5. Ask the children what they would do if they saw their friend modeling that
emotion in real life.
C. CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT
Name: Homemade Frog Bank
Concept: Developing a love on art and crafts and values about being thrifty.
The point of this activity is to help children to gain their passion in arts and
skills as an artist.
Process:
1. Cover and old shoe box or cereal box with green construction paper.
2. Cut a small slit in the front to put your money in.
3. Draw around the slit to make it part of the frogs mouth.
4. Cut two cups from an egg carton, paint the green, add googly eyes, and
glue them to the box for the frogs eye.
5. Use green construction paper to cut front and hind legs. Attach the hind
legs to the sides of the box and add the front legs to the front of the box
under the mouth.
