The Covenant

Pastor Kerry Wilson

The Covenant
• God gave us His heart concerning covenant
long before we understood His eternal plan of
unity.
• Genesis 2.23,24 “ And Adam said, this is now
bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she
shall be called Woman, because she was taken
out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his
father and his mother, and shall cleave unto
his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
The Covenant
• It is the spiritual nature of covenant to “make
two, one. This unity is best expressed inside of
the natural in what we call “marriage”.
• There are many covenants in the Bible,
however all pertain to a change in status.
• The covenant that we are participating in
today may be simple but it is a change in
status on the part of the believer and God.
The Covenant
• The change in status refers to the fact that in the
blood there is forgiveness and covering, whether
it be the deliverance from Egypt by the blood on
the doorpost, or the deliverance from the
bondage of sin by the blood of Jesus.
• The word covenant is a verbal affirmation of
joining ourselves unto God. We in turn now
assume the role of a kingdom of priests that
through us , His covenant is spread throughout
the World.
The Covenant
• 5Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and
keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure
unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
• 6And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an
holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt
speak unto the children of Israel.
• 7And Moses came and called for the elders of the
people, and laid before their faces all these words
which the LORD commanded him.
• 8And all the people answered together, and said, All
that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses
returned the words of the people unto the LORD.
The Covenant
• We now join with God in eternal plan for man
through the vehicle known as the church. His
purpose and mission now becomes our mission
and purpose.
• What is the covenant, it is the Bible, inerrant and
God breathed. It is His Word, with many
applications but one interpretation. When you
partake, you then become joined with God with
responsibility and stewardship of this Word.
The Covenant
• The affirmation is the same, “all that the Lord
says we will do”.
• The Victory Christian Center recognizes this
covenant between you and God and then
assumes the “shepherding” role in your life.
We become “fellow helpers” of your faith.
• Not as “Lords over the Flock” but as
Shepherds caring and watching for your
spiritual growth and welfare.
The Covenant
• Do you sincerely promise in the presence of
God and these witnesses that you will take
the whole Bible rightly divided, The New
Testament as your rule of faith, discipline and
government. To walk in the light even as God
reveals light to you ?
• The answer is “ I will”
