The Covenant • God gave us His heart concerning covenant long before we understood His eternal plan of unity. • Genesis 2.23,24 “ And Adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. The Covenant • It is the spiritual nature of covenant to “make two, one. This unity is best expressed inside of the natural in what we call “marriage”. • There are many covenants in the Bible, however all pertain to a change in status. • The covenant that we are participating in today may be simple but it is a change in status on the part of the believer and God. The Covenant • The change in status refers to the fact that in the blood there is forgiveness and covering, whether it be the deliverance from Egypt by the blood on the doorpost, or the deliverance from the bondage of sin by the blood of Jesus. • The word covenant is a verbal affirmation of joining ourselves unto God. We in turn now assume the role of a kingdom of priests that through us , His covenant is spread throughout the World. The Covenant • 5Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: • 6And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel. • 7And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him. • 8And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD. The Covenant • We now join with God in eternal plan for man through the vehicle known as the church. His purpose and mission now becomes our mission and purpose. • What is the covenant, it is the Bible, inerrant and God breathed. It is His Word, with many applications but one interpretation. When you partake, you then become joined with God with responsibility and stewardship of this Word. The Covenant • The affirmation is the same, “all that the Lord says we will do”. • The Victory Christian Center recognizes this covenant between you and God and then assumes the “shepherding” role in your life. We become “fellow helpers” of your faith. • Not as “Lords over the Flock” but as Shepherds caring and watching for your spiritual growth and welfare. The Covenant • Do you sincerely promise in the presence of God and these witnesses that you will take the whole Bible rightly divided, The New Testament as your rule of faith, discipline and government. To walk in the light even as God reveals light to you ? • The answer is “ I will”
