1. ADMINISTRATION and SUPERVISION

In the Oxford Dictionary, administration is defined as the process or activity of
running a business or organization. Additionally, Businessdictionary.com describes
administration as the interpretation and implementation of the policy set by an
organization.
Alternatively, supervision is defined as the action or process of watching and
directing what someone does or how it is done. In other words, it can also be
described as the act of overseeing. It is through supervision that the workers
performances are checked and they are guided accordingly.

2. LEADERSHIP and MANAGEMENT

Psychologists tend to define leadership in terms of interpersonal behavior, while
management thinkers emphasize how leaders shape structural features of
organizations (Kaiser, Lindberg McGinnis, & Overfield, 2012, p. 120).
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, leadership is the power or the ability
to lead other people. In addition, Businessdictionary.com states that leadership
involves establishing a clear vision, sharing that vision with others so that they will
follow willingly, providing the information, knowledge and methods to realize that
vision, and lastly, coordinating and balancing the conflicting interests of all
stakeholders.
On the other hand, management is the process of leading and directing all or part of
an organization, often a business, through the deployment and manipulation of
resources. It is also described as the act of handling, direction or control. Usually,
managers have an assigned position and a legitimate source of power due to the
delegated authority that comes with their position in a formal organization.
Emphasis in management is on control, decision making, decision analysis and
results.

3. ORGANIZATION and INSTITUTION

According to Eleanor J. Sullivan, an organization is a collection of people working
together under a defined structure to achieve predetermined outcomes by utilizing
financial, human, and material resources.

Alternatively, institution is a mechanism of social order and cooperation governing

the behaviour of two or more individuals. Samuel Huntington further defined it as
stable, valued, recurring patterns of behaviour.
