nation in a stimulating and conducive learning atmosphere by providing them with the
intellectual and technological tools necessary to meet the challenges of the future."
Introduction
Education in the twenty-first century demands a balance between continuity and change. The
technological leaps and the consequences thereof have overtaken the old educational paradigms
and new concepts have emerged in the world of learning. Punjab Group of Colleges (PGC) was
among the first to realize this transition and its challenges. The PGC, therefore, submitted a
petition to the Government of Punjab, in August 1996, for establishing a university in the
province.

Weakness
o Lack of strong presence in external community
o No hostel facility
Opportunities
o UCP can open agricultural department because it is located in Punjab (Mother of
5 rivers)
o UCP can start programs related to dairy products and farming, as there is a great
demand in market and no one is offering this field
o UCP is already having engineering department in which they are offering
Mechanical & Electrical engineering so that they can easily introduce more
engineering programs in future
21

o New local private institutions are also offering graduate programs
o Development of new government university in this region
o Growing competition from nearby public universities and small privates in central
