AN APPEAL TO NATIONAL GREEN TRIBUNAL TO BE AS MAGNANIMOUS ON WCF 2016
LIKE RIVER YAMUNA AND FOLLOW PRINCIPLE OF VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM

Srimad Baghavatham (Sloka 10.3.50) describes how river Yamuna (Rivers name Yamunaja
meaning sister of Lord Yama) gives life to humanity by allowing passage of Shri Vasudeva and
protecting Lord Sri Krishnas life philosophy of Bhagavad Gita. Such is the magnanimity of
river Yamuna that the river would have gladly given way for conducting the World
Culture Festival (WCF 2016) which showcased the core philosophy of Lord Sri Krishna as
expounded in Bhaghavad Gita in the form of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam of Maha
Upanishad ?

Only Small men discriminate saying: One is a relative; the other is a stranger. For those who
live magnanimously the entire world constitutes but a family
Lord Sri Krishna through his below core message in Bhagavad Gita helps us to become
magnanimous and work in accordance with Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam principle of the above
Upanishad sloka by recognizing the below supreme truth

Which means 'A true yogi sees Me in every being and every being in Me. He sees Me
everywhere. '

The message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and the theme of World Culture Festival has
definitely struck a chord in the hearts of millions of people across the world as recognized by the
endorsement of world leaders and the media world over. As acknowledged by the Honble Prime
Minister and his ministerial colleagues along with Honble Chief Ministers of various States
across the political spectrum who head popularly elected Governments of the day; That we owe a
sense of gratitude to Guruji Sri Sri Ravishankar for choosing to have this event in our Countrys
Capital city of New Delhi as it has enhanced the prestige of our Country and re-emphasized the
core message of Vasudhaiva Kumtumbakam which originated in this great land of ours as a
path for peace in this world through the emphasis on Unity in Diversity.
Now that the event is over it is time to demonstrate that we are a Nation of magnanimous
people and not small minded enough to punish Guruji Sri Sri Ravishankar and his Art of
Living Foundation for this noble act of conducting World Culture Festival for which
history may not forgive us. In this regard the National Green Tribunal needs to deliberate on
the following:1. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam principle and Magnanimity of river Yamuna Herself on
whose behalf the tribunal is hearing the case.
2. The importance of the message of Vasudhaiva Kumtumbakam the theme of World
Culture Festival for the very survival of humanity in this world in todays context and the
response that this event evoked world over.
3. Past track record for environmental protection of Sri Sri Guruji and Art of Living
Foundation through their work spanning several decades including efforts taken in the
past to clean river Yamuna.
4. The paramount importance of Implementation of NGT order titled Milay se Nirmal
Yamuna Revitalization Plan 2017 based on the Manoj Misra vs Union of India and
Others judgement for clean Yamuna.
5. The WCF2016 event itself and the media coverage leading to it has brought into focus in
an unprecedented way the need for a clean Yamuna thus serving the larger purpose of the
Tribunal.
6. The suggestion made by the Honble Delhi Chief Minister on the stage of the event itself
in the presence of several Central Ministers for Sri Sri Guruji to use his good offices and
influence with both the Governments and spearhead the effort to clean Yamuna.
Temples Protection Movement on behalf of crores of devotees who believe in the principle of
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam appeal to the National Green Tribunal to be as magnanimous as river
Yamuna Herself and to take into account all the above points along with the assurance of Sri Sri
Guruji and the Art of Living Foundation for doing everything in their power to clean river
Yamuna and also the good offices that Sri Sri Guruji enjoys with both the Central and the State
Governments and make the Foundation with crores of members across 155 countries
morally responsible for implementation of Milay se Nirmal Yamuna Revitalization Plan
2017 as shram dhan instead of the monetary compensation proposed in the interim order
which will not serve the larger goal of clean Yamuna.
