LITFORM/WORLDLIT School-Year 2015-2016 Description: The activity is a poetry recital of each students own composition which will serve as a tool to increase students literacy level and appreciation of poetry. General Objectives: The project seeks to meet the following objectives: 1. To promote the spoken dimension of poetry; specifically the voice of the poem and how it should be conveyed in recital 2. To explore creativity in making and delivering a literary composition 3. To increase vocabulary and help students become more expressive and contemplative and gain a better appreciation of life through writing poetry 4. To utilize literature as a means of self expression Participants: ALL classes taking Litform/Wordlit. Mechanics: I. Pre Recital Requirements 1. The student will compose a poem of at least 16 lines (4 stanzas) either in English or Filipino. The poem may either use the traditional form or free verse. 2. The student will provide a concise interpretation of the poem. He must master his/her poem by heart, as well as an overview on how it was written. He also should practice reciting the poem orally, making sure that his/her oral recitation proves that he/she understands the emotive and intellectual content and form of the poem. 3. The student accomplishes the poetry worksheet form (format to be given by the teacher). This is to be submitted to the teacher before the scheduled recital. II. Recital Requirements 1. The student copies the complete poem on a sheet of Manila paper or acetate using a marking pen and makes sure that the letters are readable to the student seated at the last row of the classroom. He brings this to class on the day of his recital, together with some masking tape with which to attach the sheet to the blackboard or OHP so that his classmates can follow his recitation and mark the level of his mastery of the poem. Another option is the use of PPT. 2. He delivers his oral recital on the scheduled recital. His oral presentation should show his MASTERY of the poem. Mastery means that he/she is precise with all the words the poem uses, his ENUNCIATION and VOICE PROJECTION is clear, and his INFLECTION OF THE EMOTIONAL AND INTELLECTUAL CONTENT AND FORM of the poem is expressive of his knowledge and sensibility of poem. 3. The oral recital of the poem should not exceed 10 minutes. The oral delivery should follow this format: a. Provide a short background of the poem (title and overview on how it was written) b. Deliver the poem c. Share/Discuss the interpretation of the poem and its significance to the author
