TEXTILE INDUSTRY IN INDIA


India has a very rich history in textiles. By the first century AD, India was already producing
woven cottons of noteworthy quality. Besides natural fibressuch as Cotton, Jute and Silk,
Synthetic Raw Material products such as Polyester Staple Fibre, Polyester Filament Yarn,
Acrylic Fibre & Viscose Fibre are produced in India.
India's cotton textile industry has a high export potential as cost competitiveness is driving
the penetration of Indian yarns and fabrics in international commodity markets. This will
provide an expanded opportunityalongside enhanced competition for the Indian textile units,
as more markets would be open for access.
Presently, textiles account for 14% India's industrial production and around 27% of its export
earnings. India is the second largest employer in the textile sectorin both rural and urban
areas as well, contributing to nearly 30% of the total exports, and employing 35 million
people approximately.
India is also in a position to provide a larger variety of casual wear and leisure garments at
significantly lower costs due to the availability of a large pool of experienced and low-cost
skilled textile work.

DONEAR with its three decades of expertise in the textile industry is a reputed and fastest
growing fashion fabric brand creating a wide variety of exotic; Suitings, Trouser & Shirting
Fabrics.
Donear primarily caters to the middle and the premium segments with high quality apparel
fabrics that are woven with Natural Fibres, Synthetic Fibres and its Various Blends.
Fabrics created by Donear have steadily captured the domestic textile markets as a result of
its well-planned and expanding sales network consisting of; 44 Agents, 290 Wholesalers and
12000 Retailers, that are spread in all the 29 States & 7 Union Territories of India.
Similarly, fabrics created by Donear have a wider reach in the overseas markets too, with
exports to over 28 Countries across the globe.
Donear currently produces 11 million metres of fabric annually in its production unit located
at Silvasa - UT of Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
To augment the production capacity further, another plant with an investment of US $ 27
million is being set up at Surat - the textile hub of western India. This will lead to an increase
in the total production capacity up to 17.5 million metres of fabric per annum.

or can also supply with the desired specifications provided by the customer, in terms of

To keep itself updated, Donear regulary attends various Trade Shows that are held worldwide. It also regularly participates in the 'TEXWORLD TRADE FAIR' that is held twice in
a year in Paris, France

production of cotton fabrics, Donear will be able to expand its activities and clientele in the
US & Europe.

1. Availability of Donear products is good.
2. Very few Retailers Have Donear Fabric
3. Even Dcot shops in such markets are keeping local ready made shirts and other fabric.
4. Retailers say demand of donear is only among Lower Middle Class.
5. Retailers Agree that quality of donear is good in comparison to many other branded
fabric.
6. Retailers pointed that donear lacks good marketing strategy.

Findings In Remaining Markets


1. Lack of advertisement by donear is still the biggest barrier to reach till people.
2. Even Samples of donear product dont reach these markets
3. These markets are slightly expensive so customers prefer branded products.
4. Brands like Raymonds, Grasim, Vimal are popular
5. Vimal, Arwind and Gwalior fabric is available in almost all shops in delhi and ncr
6. Social Media, poster advertising and other traditional means of advertising are
required
7. Follow up by salesman is very low.
8. Many retailers agree that quality of donear is good but it lacks marketing strategy

market, sale is high during festive season. Also sale of such packets depend soley on
the retailer profit margin and word of mouth.
15. Hundreds of Raymonds, Grasim and Siyarams showroom exists in Delhi and Ncr.
These are exclusive showrooms which attract many high class and upper middle class
people
16. There is not even a single retailer which exclusively sells Donear and its associated
products.
17. People are unware about exclusive and high end brands of donear like FM, Royal
Classico
18. Retailers dont want to enter into business with new company.
19. Retailers says donear is no longer popular as it was earlier.
20. None of the retailers said anything negative about donear policies most of them
emphasized on poor marketing stratigies.

1. ADVERTISING IN FORM OF HOARDINGS, PRINT MEDIA, IN SHOP
BRANDING, ALONG WITH TV ADS WILL BE BENEFICIAL.

2. DISTRIBUTING FREE SAMPLES OF FM PRODUCTS ALONG WITH ANY


NEWS PAPERS.
3. INCREASING NO. OF DISTRIBUTORS AND RETAILERS FOR FM.
4. PUSH STRATEGY TO BE USED TO PROMOTE BRAND WHICH SAYS A
NEW PRODUCT WHICH HAS A LOW MARKET SHARE SHOULD BE
PUSHED IN MARKET THROUGH

INTENSE AND HIGH QUALITY

ADVERTISMENT.
5. INCENTIVES TO DISTRIBUTORS AND RETAILERS TO PROMOTE THIS
BRAND.
6. FOLLOW UP BY SALES PEOPLE SHOULD BE EFFECTIVE AND
EFFICIENT.
7. NEW DESIGNS, VARIETY, COLOUR SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OFF.
8. A SMALL GIFT TO CUSTOMERS ON PURCHASE OF PARTICULAR
AMOUNT OF FM PRODUCT SHOULD BE PROVIDED. Eg. A Watch, A Pen.

13. HOARDINGS AND IN SHOP BRANDING IS THE NEED OF THE HOUR.
14. RANGE OF SHIRITNGS SHOULD BE INCREASED BY DONEAR AND FOR
FM ALSO.
15. DONEAR NEEDS TO FOCUS ON SOCIAL MEDIA WERE ALMOST ALL
TOP BRANDS HAVE THEIR PRESENCE.

CONCLUSION

Now days various textile companies like Raymond, Siyaram, Ried and Taylor are coming up
with new innovations, design, varities to strive in this competitive world. Hence donear
needs a lot of changes as suggested above.
After conducting an intense research in Delhi&NCR we have come up that people prefer
brands which have a good brand name along with good advertisments. hence first of all fm
should concentrate on good quality and attractive advertisments.
Quality along with variety and design is also prefered by the people. people are ready to shell
out more money if they get a better brand with a good brand name.
A good fabric with softness and shining is also considered important by the customers.
