Oracle Sub Inventory Transfer

Sub Inventory: Logical classification of inventory material is done through sub
inventories. Sub inventory is like a group to classify different types of material like Raw
Material, Finished Goods, Staging, Stores etc.
We move material across sub inventories in various scenarios. For example to ship a
sales order we move material from FGI to Staging sub inventory.
Business Requirement: Move material from FGI sub inventory to Stores manually.
Navigation: Inventory Responsibility > Sub inventory Transfer

Enter Type as Sub inventory Transfer and Click Transaction Lines button

Enter Item Information, From Sub inventory and To Sub inventory information.
Locator data and Serial information is required based on item setup.

As this item is serial enabled, enter the serial number that you would like to transfer.

Check the on-hand quantity screen. On the left panel you can observe that now serial
number ABC13 is in Stores sub inventory.

Inter-organization Transfer
Business Requirement: Transfer material from Seattle Organization to Boston
Organization.
There are two ways to transfer material from one organization / warehouse to other
organization.
1. We can transfer material across inventory organization through Internal Requisition /
Internal Sales Orders
2. Inter-Organization Transfer from Inventory Application.
Navigation: Inventory Responsibility > Transactions > Inter Organization Transfer

Select M1 organization from the Org List if you already havent selected.
Enter the Organization to which you would like to transfer the material. In this case we
would like to transfer material to Boston warehouse.

Click Transaction Lines button and enter item information.

Choose sub inventory , Locator or both source organization and destination
organization.

If the item is either Lot controlled or Serial Controlled enter the necessary information.

Click done and Save the transaction.

Now the Transaction is initiated in Seattle organization, Next step is to receive the
material in Boston Organization.
Navigation: Inventory Responsibility > change Organization
Select M2, Boston Manufacturing Organization before processing to creating Inventory
Receipt.

Create Inventory Receipt in Boston Organization

Navigation: Receiving >Receipts

Query based on item number or Order number

Enter the serial number which is received and Save the transaction.

Once Inventory Receipt is created and material is received into Receiving area we need
to move this material into warehouse by creating Receiving Transactions.
Creation of Receiving Transaction is not required all the time, it depends on what type
of Receipt Routing you are following for the selected item. If the Receipt Routing is
standard then we need to create Receiving Transaction. If the Receipt Routing is Direct
then we dont need to perform the next step.
Navigation: Inventory Responsibility > Transactions > Receiving > Receiving
Transactions

Query the item number , enter information as needed and Save the transaction.
Now check the on-hand quantity screen in M2 Organization to ensure material is moved
properly.

Inventory Miscellaneous Transactions

As the name implies Inventory Miscellaneous Transactions are used for Miscellaneous
reasons. Primarily we create Miscellaneous Receipts and Miscellaneous Issues to adjust
the inventory on-hand quantity when actual quantity doesnt match with the quantity
represented by ERP system, Oracle Apps.
Business Scenario 1: Actual quantity available in warehouse is more than on-hand
quantity in the ERP system. In this case we need to increase the on-hand quantity in
ERP system with out purchasing the item or manufacturing the item.
Lets check current on-hand quantity of the item, erps_serial in M1 organization. This
item, erps_serial is a locator controlled and serial controlled item but not Lot controlled
item.

Miscellaneous Receipt:

In Inventory module every transaction is tied to a particular warehouse or organization.

So select the Organization as M1 (not B1 in this example) and move forward.

In Type filed select miscellaneous receipt as shown below and click button Transaction
Lines

Enter Item, Sub inventory, Locator, UOM, Quantity, Account and click Lot/Serial button

Drag scroll bar towards right to see more fields

Enter serial that you would like to assign. In this example we are receiving quantity 1 so
we need only one serial number.

Click Done and Save your transaction.

Check on-hand quantity now.

You can see the increase in on-hand quantity.

Business Scenario 2: Actual warehouse quantity is less than on-hand quantity in the
ERP system. So we need to decrease the on-hand quantity in the system.
Miscellaneous Issue:
Navigation: Inventory responsibility > Transactions > Miscellaneous Transaction
Select Miscellaneous Issue in Type field.

Click Transaction Lines

Enter item, sub inventory, Locator, UOM, quantity, Account and click on Lot / Serial
button

Enter serial number and click Done.

Save your transaction.
Check on-hand quantity now to see the change.
