Zephyr 2010
Since its founding in 1984, TAPMI has received recognition and respect amongst
the well-known industrial houses and academic institutions in India for the quality of
its education. Over the years, the institute has earned a name for its Post Graduate
Programme in Management (equivalent to an MBA) and the quality of student
talent it has produced. Continuous improvements in the curriculum, structure,
academic systems and faculty resources have contributed significantly to
making TAPMI a preferred centre for management education. Today, over 1900
TAPMI alumni hold responsible managerial positions in India and abroad.
About the Curriculum
The twenty seventh PGDM batch will graduate from TAPMI during
2011. The first batch of the e-GPX also graduated during 2010. The
e-GPX programme is the first of its kind in the country which focuses
on e-Governance in India. Beginning 2010-11 academic year, TAPMI
will offer three new two-year Post Graduate Diploma programmes,
in addition to its existing two year Post Graduate Diploma in
Management (PGDM) , owing to which the intake of students is
expected to increase to 360 from academic year 2010-11:
e - GPX
TAPMI launched its e-Governance Program for Executives (eGPX)
in collaboration with the National Institute for Smart Government
[NISG], Hyderabad, on the 6th of April 2009, with 31 participants
from government and corporate sectors. The first batch of the
e-Governance Program for Executives (eGPX) graduated on
Thursday, February 18th, 2010 at its Manipal campus.
Management-in-practice
TAPMI has many innovations to its credit. One of the more significant among
them is the Management in Practice (MIP) programme. MIP provides unique
opportunities to the students to get deeper insight and understanding about
organizations and their management practices under the expert guidance of an
industry mentor. The Association of Indian Management Schools presented this
programme the ‘Best Innovation in Management Education Award’.
Outbound
This week long programme, conducted by a specialized agency, requires students
to go through a series of activities in a challenging environment where even the
simplest tasks require planning, leadership, communication and team-work. After
going through this experience, students reflect on their learning and experiment
with new behaviours. Students are expected to make sense out of uncertainty
with the limited resources available to them and to realize the importance of team
work, communication, physical fitness as well as develop sensitivity towards the
environment.
NGO Project
The NGO Project is an important component of TAPMI’s Post Graduate Programme.
This programme enables students to sensitize themselves to the issues of
social development and management by experiential learning. Working with and
contributing to the management of NGOs, the students develop new perspectives
with respect to the role of business in society.
