Hello CRM Gurus
I have successfully replicated CRM object BOM for downloading the BOM structure from R/3 into CRM..
Now the question that I have is to locate these BOMs in CRM...Which transaction will help me find the BOMs created
in CRM? Shall I see them in Product relationsships?
PLease advise.
Regards
Jai

but thanks for your reply...It has certainly clarified few things for me...
But the question that I still have is that if BOMs cannot be downloaded to CRM from R/3 thenwhy does SAP provide
object BOM to use for downloading..
Also now I am wondering if we were to use full blown VC with knowldge bases for runtime and using BOMs in R/3,
how would we then proceed to replicate the same in CRM?
If any VC gurus, check this note, please let me know your thoughts..
Regards
Jai
PS: Paul: will it be possible for us to exchange few emails on the topic? Thanks

--The only attribute at component level is the quantity (in the component base unit of measure).
--A material may only be used once as a component in a BOM.
--Configurable products cannot be used as a header product or component.
If you are using full blown VC, you can create runtime versions of knowledge bases and download the object SCE for
downloading configuration data.
Thank You,
Vimal

downloaded?
Warning Message----There are restrictions when downloading bills of material (see long text)
Message no. COM_BOM_EXCHANGE000
Diagnosis
You peformed an initial download for the BOM middleware object. This middleware object can be used to download
standard bills of material from an OLTP R/3 System to the CRM/EBP System with the following restrictions:
Multilevel bills of material are not allowed. Materials that constitute the header material of a BOM may not be used as
components in a BOM.
Change management is not supported, meaning that it is not possible to assign any type of validity, such as time.
Structured products cannot be defined for a specific organization, but are always valid across clients. This means that
only group BOMs or BOMs from a specific plant can be downloaded.
Alternative BOMs or different BOM usages, such as multiple BOMs, are not allowed.
Attributes at header level cannot be stored. The reference quantity at header level is always 1 base unit of measure.
The only attribute at component level is the quantity (in the component base unit of measure).
A material may only be used once as a component in a BOM.
Configurable products cannot be used as a header product or component.
System Response
This message is issued as a warning when the OLTP R/3 System is not a retail system, but a standard system.

Hi Paul
In CRM 5.0, I am now able to replicate the BOMs from R/3 to CRM...When the BOMs are downloaded from R/3,
CRM builds it as a relationship and then I can explode this single level BOM in CRM transactions...
Take care
Jai

Hi Jai,
That means the documentation is wrong.
I am really surprised to see that BOMs can be donloaded. Apart from using the download object BOM, what other
activities need to be carried out to get the BOM relationships into CRM?
Also, I belive before the BOM download you have downloaded the component products. Have downloaded the main
product also?
I am really excited to hear more from you on your acheivement.
Thanks,

Paul/Jai,
The documentation says that you can download BOM's to CRM 5.0 with some restrictions.
We are having the following restriction in downloading the BOM items.
--Configurable products cannot be used as a header product or component.
Its great to hear that Jai got the BOM's into CRM. Did you have development done? Do you have any idea how we
can bypass this restriction to bring the BOM products into CRM?
Thank You,
Vimal John

Hi all
Yes...Seems like documentation is not correct. In CRM5.0, once I download plants as BPs, I can start the BOM
download only for universal BOMs...We need to set filers up for DNL_Plant object, for plant (WERKS). If we dont do
that then SAP just finds the plant for the first BOM it finds, and thenmakes that as a default plant. This means that if
there other materials in different plants, that wont be downloaded...
Now any change I make to a universal BOM in R/3, gets reflected in CRM right away in product relationship.
Sorry for a little latereply.
Regards
Jai
