The Wolfes Den

Hello everybody! How do you like that SPRING is
now upon us? The temperature still feels chilly once
that sun goes down. We even have had some nights
near freezing. Check your local Shelter if you are in
NEED of a warm place to sleep. The website of the county posts it.
As our county under goes some drastic changes. Not everyone is happy about it. Again, I
was filled with E-mails voicing concerns for our future and this widening project the state
has done, seems to have some serious consequences to each of our cities being North of
the Bay. People you need to start attending city council meetings with an urgency. No
matter what town you live in. They are making decisions that will affect your utility bills
in the near future. How many of you are on fixed income? without any promises of an
increase? As it appears there are many of you elder folks out there who need to have your
concerns and opinions heard by those leading your city or area. You can help the future.
Go to the county Board of Commissioners meetings! Things are really getting twisted
from what many of us were thinking it was to be in this county, and from how it is going
to be. It is quite important that they see your face, hear your voices or they will just pass
anything that is appeasing to them, not you. I urge you all to really start attending as many
meetings as you can. This county is in chaos, the USA is in chaos. It needs OUR HELP!
With the Election of a New President coming soon. This is the time to watch your local
government even more closely, because it affects you most directly. As they say, 1 Bee
isnt a problem, but when a swarm of bees are around, people take NOTICE!
The same as what is happening to Donald Trump. I personally am voting for him for we
need someone the establishment cannot dictate to. Nor will he dictate to them. He is a
smart businessman and I know it is time for our country to be run like a business. Like no
other business. Why else would this Man make so many people upset? Because he is the
voice of 85% of most Americans. like me, who are pissed off from the Lies, the cheating,
the manipulating of our Constitution and Laws that founded this once great country of
OURS. Block our roads, we will run you OVER! Southern Pride is also at stake now.
You folks do understand that these so-called protestors that are causing a divide
between everyone are paid people by the BLM, MoveOn.org and of course Obama and the
Clintons. Does anyone else feel tired of seeing that lying womans face? She makes me
sick. To think that people will even vote for her is a joke. Seriously, what has she done for
our country, our people? Get them killed, lie to the faces of the families of the dead. She
denies all the facts that has been asked to her, about her lack of authority. The way she has
handled some very serious National Security issues seems like a joke to her and this current administration. Saying, what does it matter now? Really?
Doesnt our history make a reason to for you to be concerned? Each one of us will have
to live with the disarray from the government for some years to come if Hillary becomes
President. She should be in Prison before the election, but it doesnt make sense knowing
she is guilty of 90% of all allegations against her, that she is not in jail NOW, awaiting a
trial, right now! If it were any one of us, we would have already been sentenced, possibly
Death. The Traitor Bergdahl deal is also a sham. We DO know for sure that if Trump
was president. That entire silly, ridiculous deal that Obama has made would NOT have
happened. The entire ordeal was embarrassing to all Americans. Iraq held our Navy?
As a US Veteran, I take a deep offense to someone making the US look bad. It is our
homeland. Be Proud or Leave. So many people around here never served a day in the
military yet they still have more Rebel Pride in our country than those puppets elected in
Congress. Why hasnt the Republicans done more while in majority of the Senate than
they have? Why does it take a non-establishment person (TRUMP) to bring up issues we
all knew that are important to our safety. Just the Border issue alone is a disgrace!
We have Laws in place, we have Border Police and Military intervention to try and keep
us safe. Obama disallows them to do the right thing. Their job! Just as a soldier is
trained to do a JOB, let them do what they are trained to do! Obama is the weakest man
Ive ever seen in leadership of this magnitude. Today, he is in Cuba. Even Castro dissed
him at the airport. Obama has his picture with an evil bastard mounted in Cuba, a mass
murderer, yet he smiles? I think he is mentally incompetent more than he was when
elected. He was also elected by telling Lies, just like Hillary does. We cannot afford this
Nation to have another term of Obamacare crap and those executive orders he pushed thru
without Congress approval. The Race War is going to happen in due time.
Who will change the direction of this country from withering away to a 3rd world
country? TRUMP! I would rather have 1yr with TRUMP than 4 years of anyone else. He
cannot make it worse than it really is. The true factual statistics of Obamas legacy is
proven to be that he will be remembered as the worst President ever. He had his chance
to become a great one, but chose to deal with the enemy so much that we furnished them
Billions of $$ and ammunition and military equipment. We now have been sized down in
military so much that we have to work now 3x as hard, as if it were before GW Bush.
People, you need to make the time to watch what is going on around the World. What
makes you think that it will not happen here? People in such poverty and despair that now
we even have our own Lead Water for Michigan, finding more each day. STAND UP!

Agents with the Florida

Department of Law
Enforcement, along with
the Okaloosa and Walton
County Sheriffs Offices,
arrested Tyler Hale, 45,
and Jennifer Pope, 45, both
of Fort Walton Beach,
Florida after an investigation revealed they ran
a human trafficking ring involving multiple victims operating in
Okaloosa and Walton Counties.
Hale was charged with human trafficking and deriving support
from the proceeds of prostitution. Pope was charged with
deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution.
Agents began investigating the pair after discovering online
advertisements for escorts. Subsequently, four victims were
identified. Investigators believe the women were forced to
engage in sex for money by using physical harm, threats of
physical harm, or by enticing them with a controlled substance.
Both Hale and Pope were booked into Okaloosa County Jail
without bond. This case will be prosecuted by the Office of the
State Attorney, 1st Judicial Circuit.

There are two new cases of the Zika Virus in Polk County (bringing the
total statewide to 52) one is travel-associated and one was sexually
transmitted from an individual who was traveling outside of the country.
The Declaration of Public Health Emergency has been expanded to include Polk County. Of the cases confirmed in Florida, three cases are still
exhibiting symptoms. According to the CDC, symptoms associated with
the Zika virus last between seven to 10 days.
The CDC has put out guidance related to the sexual transmission of the
Zika virus. This includes the CDC recommendation that if you have traveled to a country with local transmission of Zika you should abstain from
unprotected sex.
Based on CDC guidance, several pregnant women who have traveled to
countries with local-transmission of Zika have received antibody testing,
and of those, four have tested positive for the Zika virus. The CDC recommends that a pregnant woman with a history of Zika virus and her provider
should consider additional ultrasounds. It is recommended that women
who are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant postpone travel
to Zika affected areas.
Last week, Governor Rick Scott announced that the Centers for Disease
Control fulfilled the request he made last week for more antibody tests for
the Zika virus and provided an additional 500 tests.
State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong urges
Floridians to drain standing water weekly, no matter how seemingly small.
A couple drops of water in a bottle cap can be a breeding location for mosquitoes. Residents and visitors also need to use repellents when enjoying
the Florida outdoors.
The number for the Zika Virus Information Hotline is 1-855-622-6735.

Entertainment, like beauty is in the eye of the

beholder. Its different for each person. I am a 2 nd
generation singer/songwriter with strong family ties
to South Walton. Music has, and will, remain a
passion of mine until my time on this planet is over.
The goal of this column is to spotlight, any and all
styles of local musicians, venues and events that
are worth attending. Of course I dont know everyone, but I am willing to attend shows or events, with
an open mind and my honest opinion.
It is said, a musician plays and sings, whereas an
entertainer performs from the soul. Sharing his or her
passion with complete strangers to connect a spiritual
bond. Many, with rare gifts go unnoticed.

Heros for Children Family Run

Healthmark Health Matters

-Caring for elderly parents
Adult children often serve as caregivers for aging
parents. This may be due to illness, accident or the
inevitable decline brought on by advanced age. Are you
prepared for the role? It is important to talk with our
parents about their health and safety.
Caregivers must monitor the health and independence
of their aging parents. We must evaluate their general
condition and ask ourselves, are my parents safe in their
home? How well are they taking care of themselves?
How are their mental attitudes? Are they having
difficulty getting around?
Caregivers must also be prepared for an emergency
and should make a list of their doctors, allergies,
medications, surgeries, insurance information and other
important details. Discuss long-term care, living wills
and other preferences. These are steps we can take to
help aging parents maintain their independence.
We begin by observing our parents closely. Do they appear to be taking good care of themselves? Failure to keep up with
bathing, tooth brushing and other basic grooming could indicate dementia, depression or physical impairments.
Are parents still connecting with friends? Have they maintained interest in hobbies and other daily activities? Look around
the house. Any big changes in the way your parents do things around the house could provide clues to their health. Neglected
housework is another red flag.
Everyone forgets things from time to time. Modest memory problems are a fairly common part of aging, and sometimes
medication side effects or underlying conditions contribute to memory loss. However, according to researchers at the Mayo
Clinic, there is a difference between normal changes in memory and the type of memory loss associated with Alzheimer's
disease and other types of dementia. Problems such as forgetting common words when speaking, getting lost in familiar
neighborhoods or being unable to follow directions may be serious and should warrant an evaluation with their doctor.
Driving can sometimes be challenging for older adults. If aging parents become confused while driving or lose their ability to
drive safely, it may be time to stop driving. To help them maintain their independence, discuss transportation options such as
taking a bus, hiring a driver or riding with neighbors, friends and family members.
Consider in-home services. If aging parents are having trouble taking care of themselves, hiring someone to clean the house
and run errands might be the solution. A home health aide could help with daily activities such as bathing and dressing and
there are senior services available locally, too.
It is extremely important for us to talk to our parents openly and honestly. Knowing that we are concerned about their health
can give our parents the motivation they need to see a doctor or make other changes.
Sometimes aging parents won't admit they need help. We should remind our parents that we care about them and want to do
what is best to promote their health and well-being, both today and in the months and years to come.
