Good Evening
First of all I would like to express my sincere gratitude to BIS Jaipur
Branch and Head Sh. Rakesh Kumar ji for giving me this opportunity to
be here on this great occasion of World Standards Day.
As we are well aware that each year October 14 is celebrated as world
standards day to honor the efforts of the thousands of experts who
develop voluntary standards worldwide. These standards developed
within

organizations

such

as

the

International

Electro-technical

Commission (IEC), International Organization for Standardization (ISO),

and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Really this is the
groundwork done by those experts that presently we are having a
robust system of standards worldwide to deliver quality products and
services to the customer. In india also, BIS is doing the unwavering
service to our nation and community by developing, maintaining,
reviewing and implementing various standards. Hats off to the BIS for
this work. 14 October was specifically chosen to mark the date, in
1946, when delegates from 25 countries first gathered in London and
decided to create an international organization focused on facilitating
standardization for better and uniform quality norms internationally
and first world standards day was celebrated in 1970 for this.

awareness

among

regulators,

industry

and

consumers

importance of standardization to the global economy.

Dear Audience, this years theme for this day International Standards
ensure positive change, in fact, underlines the importance of standards in a
nut shell. The standards brings positive change by removing barriers
to communication and cooperation and benefits of this process are
ultimately delivered to the society in the form of greater choice,
increased quality and lower prices. International standards represent
the consensus view of the worlds leading experts in industry sectors
ranging from energy utilities and energy efficiency to transportation,
management
information

systems,
and

climate

communication

change,

healthcare,

technology.

Volunteering

and
their

knowledge in service of the public interest, experts in these and many

other subjects come together to create standards that share innovation
with all the worlds countries and so provide business, government and
society with a solid platform for positive change.
Formulation of internationally accepted standards has broken down
barriers of boundaries among countries. Customers are free to choose
their choice of products from other countries while manufactures are
ready to design their product

for foreign nationals. Both are

beneficiaries, one is getting more choices to select from and other is

expanding their business turnover. The main reason behind this is that
a customer has standards at his disposal to decide upon his
requirements and select the product of lowest price. Similarly a
manufacturer can fabricate his product on international standards to
sell out it to internationally and this is a positive change. Now
customers are not slave to corporate monopoly and corporate feel no
restrictions of their native boundary. This is consensual acceptance of
standards that Indian software industries is booming in US and Belgium
in emerging as a glass fibre behemoth.

As a manufacturer, I must say that BIS standards are working as a

beacon light to our chemical and cement industry sector. At Binani

follow

BIS

standards

in

letter

and

spirit

during

manufacturing of our cement and results is that our esteemed

customers always get a quality product. Consistent delivery of quality
product in the market has established a brand value of Binani Cement
in the market and we feel highly indebted to BIS for this.
I feel honored to say here that this the compliance to the BIS standards
that our Binani Cement Limited bestowed upon RAJIV GANDHI
NATIONAL QUALITY AWARD For 2010. It is an appropriate occasion to
say thanks to BIS for this.
Its great pleasure to be here. I thank all of you for giving me a rapt
attention. Hopefully BIS will ever continue to guide us in our efforts to
deliver quality product to the customer.
