Terminal Area Capital Program

Define a path to optimize and expand the functionality of existing
terminal building assets or modernize the older terminal facilities
for the next 20 to 30 years.
Incrementally phased development plan balancing a long range vision with
near term needs:
Near to mid-term needs (generally defined as 2015 to 2025)
Long range vision
Ongoing monitoring and adjusting of project sequencing needed to respond to
operational or capacity needs and changing conditions

Central Terminal Redevelopment

Aviation Department Report to the Miami-Dade Trade and Tourism Committee

Factors Influencing the Timing for Commencement

Implementation Readiness
Identifying and removing utility system dependencies to the North and South Terminals
from the Central Terminal Area

Operational Readiness
MIAs growth has significantly increased gate utilization and gate demand
Sufficient capacity to accommodate traffic demand must be ensured before beginning a
construction program that reduces gate capacity during construction

Financial Considerations
Adequate traffic capacity during construction will ensure that revenues continue to be
robust
Enabling projects that facilitate robust revenues will positively influence capital markets
