4- Set the front steer sensor


Aim: When you change the front steer sensor you should repeat this setup procedure
before using the machine.
Starting conditions: Park the machine in an open area clear of persons or obstructions.
Park the machine on a level surface with the rear track in the outside position and with
the engine switched off.
This setup procedure is for PM-102 tracked version only.
4.1)
Start the engine.
4.2)
Switch on the services equipment at the Gen-ON switch.
4.3)
Using the steering wheel, move the front tracks to the straight position.
Use the machine frame as a reference guide when positioning the tracks
straight ahead.
4.4)
Open the Setup menu as described in section 0.
4.5)
Select option 4 - front steer sensor:

Steer the front tracks fully to the left.

Check that the setup registers the maximum front sensor value:

4.8)

Steer the front tracks back to the straight position and align them
precisely with the cutter drum frame. Use a straight edge reference if
necessary to ensure a good alignment.

You can now save the new setup values for the front sensor. Warning the value for the
straight position is the value which appears in the data field at the moment when you
press the SAVE button.

Press the OK button to save the calibration.

5 Set the rear steer sensor


Aim: When you change the front or rear steer sensors you should repeat this setup
procedure before using the machine.
Starting conditions: Park the machine in an open area clear of persons or obstructions.
Park the machine on a level surface with the rear track in the outside position and with
the engine switched off.

NOTE: front truck alignment is very critical for this part of the
calibration

6.1) Mechanical adjustments
Aim: adjust the stroke stop screws for the lock cylinders.
Starting conditions: machine stopped with the engine switched off.
WARNING This operation must only be performed in a safe area clear of persons
and obstructions.

Switch on the auxiliary equipment at the Gen-On
button. This button is only lit up if the "Drum" and
"On-standby" buttons are both in the 0 position.

6.1.3)

Position the front tracks in the straight position. This will ensure that the
machine is stable.

6.1.4)

Lower the rear part of the machine keeping the machine as horizontal as
possible. You can do this by using the front columns.

WARNING: Perform this manoeuvre on a solid, level surface in an area which


is clear of persons and obstructions. When the cutter drum touches the ground
continue raising the right rear leg until the light of the Column IN/OUT button
lights up shown below.

until it contacts the column frame.

6.1.15) Lock it in this position by tightening the lock nut.

Using the column swing switch, enable column movement.

Starting condition: Park the machine in a clear, unobstructed area. Stop and switch off
the machine with the column in the outside position.
Aim: When you substitute a sensor on the RH rear column mechanism you must repeat
this setup procedure.
6.2.1) Start the engine.
6.2.2) Switch on the auxiliary equipment at the Gen-On button. This button is
only lit up if the "Drum" and "On-standby" buttons are both in the 0 position.
6.2.3) Position the front tracks in the straight position. This will ensure that the
machine is stable.

6.2.4) Lower the rear of the machine keeping the machine as horizontal
as possible. You can do this by using the front columns.
WARNING: Perform this manoeuvre on a solid, level surface in an
area that is clear of persons and obstructions. When the cutter drum
touches the ground continue raising the rear RH leg until the light
of the Column IN/OUT button lights up.

6.2.5) Press the emergency stop pushbutton to


stop the auxiliary equipment.

6.2.6) Enable column swing movement using the switch


shown in the photo.

6.2.7) Open the Setup menu as described in section 0 above.


6.2.8) Select option 6.

6.2.9) Using all the column movement buttons, move the column to the inside
position. The inside position is reached when the column touches the adjuster
stop screw on the frame and the rotary actuator makes contact with the stop
screw for the inside position.

Check that the vertical lock cylinder is aligned with its hole in the frame.

Check that the column is touching the stop screw E.

6.2.10) Release the emergency pushbutton and Switch on the auxiliary equipment at
the Gen-On button. This operates the vertical and horizontal lock pins.
Check that the warning light for the horizontal lock pin switches off.

Note: In the screen shot above, the arrows indicate the values recorded by the system
for the rotary actuator sensor minimum position and for the column swing transducer
maximum position.
6.2.11) Switch off the services by pressing the emergency stop pushbutton.

6.2.12) Enable column movement using the movement switch.


6.2.13) Using all the column movement buttons, move the column to the outside
position. The outside position is reached when the column touches the adjuster
stop screw on the frame and the rotary actuator makes contact with the stop
screw for the outside position.
Check that:
The column touches the adjuster stop screw on the frame.
The hole in the frame is aligned with the vertical lock pin.
The rotary actuator makes contact with the stop screw H for the outside position.
If one of these conditions is not present, refer to the previous section for details of
adjustments.
6.2.14) Release the emergency pushbutton and Switch on the auxiliary equipment at
the Gen-On button. This operates the vertical and horizontal lock pins.
Check that the warning light for the horizontal lock pin switches off.

Note: In the screen shot above, the arrows indicate the values recorded by the system
for the rotary actuator sensor maximum position and for the column swing transducer
minimum position.
The SAVE button should now appear. If the button does not appear, this indicates that
one or both of the sensors are faulty.
6.2.15) Save the values obtained.
