'Ronnie' is a two-week-old rhesus macaque currently being cared for at the Darling Downs Zoo in
Pilton, Queensland, Australia. After being left to die on the floor of his enclosure when his sister
forced him away from his mother, the adorable youngster is being hand-reared by zoo owners Steve
and Stephanie Robinson. Steve said, "For the first week all he wanted to do was sit and cuddle his
teddy, but now he likes to climb inside Stephanie's shirt."

Sloth Bear Cubs Hitch Ride on Mom
Two tired sloth bear cubs fought for pole position as they tried to rest their weary legs by hitching a
ride on their mom. The jet black sloth bears were spotted clambering all over their doting mom after
a long day exploring a mountain range in Sandur, Karnataka, India. Sibling rivalry was rife as the
bears balanced precariously on their mums back before falling off and climbing on again several
times.

Baby Porcupine Hangs Out With Mom
A new-born Porcupette (orange) is seen with mother Zoey. The cute critter is the newest arrival at
the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park in New York and has already won over enchanted staff. The
porcupette was born on Father's Day, June 21. Weighing in at 400 grams, the baby has progressively
gained weight since birth. Once the sex is determined, a name will be announced. For now, the
young porcupine is being monitored by zoo staff and is bonding with mom, Zoey, and dad, Mattie.

Baby Giraffe Born at Virginia Zoo
The Virginia Zoo announced the birth of a baby Masai giraffe. The yet to be named male giraffe
weighed in at 152 pounds and measured in at 75 inches tall. The baby could stand and walk within a
few hours after his birth.

Animal care staff at the San Diego Zoo have determined that their new hippopotamus calf is a girl
after nearly two months of waiting. The calf, born March 23, 2015 has been named Devi. Due to the
very protective nature of a hippo mom, the calf was often kept tucked into vegetation growing along
the edge of the hippo pool. Her mother, Funani, would also place her body between the baby and the
viewing area. While she hasn't been weighed, keepers estimate that Devi weights between 90 and
110 pounds. Funani weighs nearly 3,500 pounds.

"Otterly" Adorable Orphaned Cub Recovering
Dipper the otter was found alone in Methven, Scotland, before the SPCA was alerted and came to
her rescue. They accepted the eight-week-old cub, who was found on Feb. 4, 2015, and began caring
for her. The otter, which looked delighted to be wrapped up in a blanket, will continue to be cared
for until she is a year old and returned to the wild.

Baby Orangutan Named Budi Thrives After Rescue
A baby orangutan named Budi, who was left deformed after being crammed into a chicken coop for
most of his life is recovering after being rescued by a UK animal charity, Feb. 9, 2015. Tiny Budi was
squashed into a chicken coop in Ketapang, West Borneo and fed only condensed milk for ten months
becoming malnourished and unable to grow properly. Since highlighting his plight, IAR has received
more than 50,000 in donations and Budi, who was too weak to even open his mouth at first is now
eating and responding well to treatment.

Adorable Red Panda Makes Zoo Debut
A rare, and undeniably adorable, red panda has been born at the Nashville Zoo in Tennessee. "The
mother has done a great job of nursing and caring for the baby," said Zoo supervisor Karen Rice.
Known for their appealing "teddy bear-like appearance" the furry mammals are native to the
mountains of Central China, Nepal and northern Myanmar (Burma) where their habitat is in severe
jeopardy.

Giraffe Born at San Francisco Zoo
Twin male giraffe calves were born at the San Francisco Zoo, Aug. 26, 2014. One has survived. Twin
reticulated giraffe births are extremely rare, in fact, this is only the tenth recorded live birth of both
twins in zoos worldwide. The surviving calf was born at approximately 100 pounds and 5'6&quot;
tall, and was immediately healthy, alert, and nursing.

The Cleveland Metropark Zoo's latest baby was born July 12, 2014 in the Primate, Cat & Aquatics
Building to black howler monkey mom Springer and dad Dante. The baby, whose name and gender
have yet to be determined, is on exhibit and doing well. Black howler monkeys (Alouatta caraya) are
native to central South America, south of the Amazon River basin. Howler monkeys have enlarged
lower jaws which accommodate egg-shaped resonating chambers that allow them to make the very
loud, reverberating sounds which give them their name.

crowned lemur (Eulemur coronatus) is an endangered species native to Madagascar. The baby

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo welcomes a giraffe calf. The female Masai giraffe calf, recently named
Adia, (Ah-dia) the Swahili word for "gift," was the 47th giraffe calf born at the Zoo since 1955. She
was born on June 22, 2014 to first-time mom Jhasmin, and father Travis. Giraffes are native to the
savannas of Africa south of the Sahara Desert. Masai giraffes (Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi)

are found in Kenya and Tanzania, near the Masai Mara National Reserve. Adia can be found in the
Zoo's African Savanna area with the rest of the herd, including females Jada and Grace.

2012. China's state television reported that mama lion, Rose, set a new national record for the most

Tokyo's First Giant Panda Born in 24 Years Dies of Pneumonia
Tokyo's first baby giant panda to be born in 24 years died of pneumonia, July 11, 2012. The panda
had been born to parents Shin Shin and Ri Ri in Tokyo's Ueno Zoo just six days earlier. The baby, not
much larger than a stick of butter at birth, was allowed to bond with its mother and did not live long
enough to be given a name.

Aquarium Welcomes New Dolphin

Aquarium Welcomes Baby Dolphin
A Pacific white-sided dolphin calf swims along with its mother, Piquet, June 12, 2012, at Chicago's
Shedd Aquarium. The baby male dolphin, which does not have a name, was born on Memorial Day.
According to The Associated Press, experts at the aquarium say the baby dolphin weighs about 30
pounds now. He and his mother are not part of the aquarium's exhibits yet.
