epellency & Soil Release

Repellency & Soil Release

SUSTAINABLE STAIN MANAGEMENT

Whether at sport, work or in our daily life, our clothing is subject to many expected and
unexpected situations. Soil, oil, food or liquids might come into contact with our apparel, leaving
stains which are often hard to remove or if removable at all. Consumer demands for better
protection and cleaning properties are therefore constantly increasing, leading brands and
retailers to look for the best way to provide easy care and long life for all kind of fabrics.
Archromas reputation has grown during the past decades thanks to its in-depth experience in
protection finishes. Our Nuva product line is based on a telomerization process designed to
achieve state-of-the-art stain management properties.
Archromas solutions for active protection will provide water, oil and alcohol repellency, and
additionally chemical resistance, while passive protection will offer stain or soil release
properties. During application, the fluorocarbon dispersion surrounds each fiber with an invisible
protective film. This film is responsible for achieving the highest durability for clothing, for
example, or excellent initial values for instance for disposable nonwoven.
The range is constantly updated to fulfill environmental regulations. The new generation of
fluorocarbons, the Nuva N series, consists of products based on the latest C6 chemistry. The N
in the product name stands for novel chemistry, no* PFOA, notable improvement in repellence,
and non-sensitive in regard to compatibility with finishing chemicals.
Nuva
PFOA free water repellence solution C6 based finishing product for extremely durable water

and oil repellent and or soil and stain release finishing of textiles made of synthetic and cellulosic
fibers.
Arkophob FFR
Archroma opens up a new level of performance to the outdoor gear and equipment markets with
the launch of fluorine-free water repellent Arkophob FFR.
Moisture Management

Moisture Management

Breath is life even for textiles

No matter what they are doing, consumers expect their clothes to feel comfortable at all times.
With Hydroperm, Archromas moisture management system supplies wash-resistant
hydrophilic properties for fibers of all kinds. Fabrics dry quicker, wick moisture away from the
skin and stay soft and breathable even when the wearer is involved in high-intensity sport
activities. These benefits can be combined with the antibacterial finishes made by our wellknown partner SANITIZED AG.

shirting, outdoor and sportswear.

Flame Retardance

Flame Retardance

SOLVING BURNING PROBLEMS

As a result of legislation and tougher requirements in terms of safety and function, effective fire
protection has become an important functional element in the textile market. The demand for
flame retardancy has grown to encompass every textile sector. Beside constantly growing
demand in the private domestic sector, flame retardancy is especially important in the public
sector, for example in banks, offices, hospitals, hotels, and public transportation.
In parallel, ecological and toxicological product profiles are becoming more and more important
with a clear move away from classical halogenated flame retardants to less harmful alternatives.
Constantly anticipating market needs, Archroma has been focusing successfully on nonhalogenated products for a fairly long time with its Pekoflam range.
And finally with the latest addition of Pekoflam ECO/SYN the problem of formaldehyde
and amine emissions* has also been eliminated in flame retardant systems. With Pekoflam

ECO/SYN, which is especially suited to cotton and cotton-rich blends, Archroma is again
broadening the opportunities for manufacturers to develop their product range and markets.
The new bi-component Pekoflam system ECO for ecological and economic, SYN for
synergy has a very low impact on the fabric strength to which it is applied. Importantly, it also
has excellent wash fastness in domestic laundry situations and good performance in industrial
applications. Unlike some other systems, processing can be done on common finishing lines with
high temperature curing and a suitable wash range.
The new Archroma chemistry is not simply another product on the market it provides a
fundamental and far-reaching change to the way the producers of flame retardant fabric have
been forced to work. The new system doesnt contain any SVHC2) restricted chemicals,
commonly used in flame retardants. And its cost efficient, too.

Shaping & Resilience

SHAPING UP TEXTILES FOR LONGER LIFE

In order to provide moldings, filters or sailcloth, among others, with durable resilience
properties, the textile industry uses crosslinkers. These melamine-based resins give temperatureindependent duroplastic effects resulting in water-insoluble thermostable hardening, which
allows dimensional stability for temperatures up to 100 C (180 F) and above. Our Cassurit
crosslinkers maintain a glossy or mechanically modified surface and also improve durability in
setting and molding of nonwoven, and stiffening of technical textiles. They are also employed as
an additive to improve durability when used as a fixing agent for polymer dispersions, reactive
flame retardants or in combination with fluorocarbons for permanent water and oil repellent
applications, as well as to improve water column properties.

Antimicrobial Protection

RELIABLE CHEMISTRY FOR RELIABLE TEXTILES

Perspiration and fungi odors result in poorer hygiene, impair the users comfort and well-being,
and are a clear indication that bacteria are at work destroying the material.

Depending on the product chosen among the expert range of products made by our partner
SANITIZED AG, we can effectively reduce the formation of perspiration odor and mold, as well
as the number of dust mites or mosquito bites and landings.
For over 60 years this pioneering Swiss company has used the latest technology to develop
individual antimicrobial hygiene solutions. SANITIZED is committed to responsible ecological
practices with products that use only scientifically researched and registered antimicrobial active
ingredients that have undergone strict, internationally approved human and environmental risk

A novel technology that is not based on fluorine chemistry, PFC, PFOA, PFOS or solvents, the
Smartrepel Hydro product range supports the increasing adoption of eco-advanced materials and
production processes by textile producers and brand owners adhering to industry initiatives such
as the Joint Roadmap towards Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC)*, and eco-label
standards such as bluesign** and Oeko-Tex***.
Smartrepel Hydro achieves a level of performance for cotton and synthetic fibers and blends as
yet unattainable with alternative non-fluorine solutions, and similar to C6-based solutions.
Archromas micro-encapsulated technology uses a repelling agent and anchoring agent that
together create a perfect symbiosis of water protection, breathability and durability. Its high
water repellence performance for cotton, polyester and polyamide is tested according to AATCC
22.

Thanks to the innovative technology developed by Archromas R&D experts, the finish
overcomes the limitations of comparable non-fluorine products currently available on the market,
and achieves a soft and bulky hand-feel and strengthens the fabric against abrasion and tearing,
without any yellowing.
These effects combine to create a durable, weatherproof garment that is flexible, soft to the touch

Filament & Staple Fiber

REMOVING FRICTIONS
Friction is one of the main physical phenomena that must be considered in spin finish
applications to guarantee a trouble free production. Electrostatic charge, boundary lubrication,
wetting, thermo-stability are essential properties for spin finish products as well. Archroma spin
finish products, the Afilan and Leomin range, are considering these specific parameters
according to the different manufacturing processes in the textile industry to ensure a high quality
level of the produced yarns and to offer an economic manufacturing process for our customers.
Afilan
Range of spin finish products designed to achieve high lubricity, boundary lubrication, static
protection, and permanent surface modification.
Leomin
Range of softeners, lubricants and antistatic agents especially suited for use in fiber
manufacturing and processing.
Hostaphat
Lubricant and antistatic product for fiber manufacture.

Sizing

FLEXIBILITY ON DEMAND
Neither classical weaving nor modern high speed weaving can be carried out without sizing
agents. These adheres the individual fibers in the yarn to each other and form a protective film on
the fiber surface which enables the yarn to survive the extreme mechanical stress during weaving
