Program(s)/Tools:

Adobe InDesign & Illustrator

Objectives:

Create a new logo to fit a company image. Design consistent layouts

for a business card and letterhead. Use theAdobe programs such as
Illustrator & InDesign

Process:

I used adobe Illustrator to create my logo using simple shapes. I used

the pen tool as well as the direct select tool to create the logo. When I
was finished I placed the logo into a newly opened InDesign document.
I used the rectangle tool to create the front and back outline of my
business card. I copied and pasted the logo and contact information
onto this page. I placed my logo in the top left of the business card.
I then used the line tool to create small lines to separate the logo
from the contact information. Thus giving the card a crisp organized
look. I changed all of the text to white and orange and changed the
background to black to make the words and logo stand out.

I placed my logo in the top left corner of my letterhead and used the
line tool to create dashed line across the top of the page. In Illustrator I
converted my logo to a grey scale and placed a copy into my letterhead
document. I placed this logo in the bottom righthand side of the
letterhead, and changed the transparency to 10%. I then typed my
contact information and changed the colors of the text.

Brochure
Description:

A two sided (duplex) folding brochure.

Program(s)/Tools:

Adobe InDesign/Adobe Illustrator/Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

Set up and align a two-sided, folded document. Learn how to wrap text
around an image and use paragraph styles in InDesign.

Process:

I set my folds in InDesign then I started by changing my background

color to a tan and the cover background to the landscape image. I
placed my other other images and used Photoshop to crop the Zions
National Park sign and placed it into my brochure. I inserted my
headings and body texted and changed the heading to the same dark
red. I then created the small section to the right inserting a shape and
coloring it red placing The Perfect Zions Experience in front of it.
I placed the sign into my design and used the text wrap to create and
appealing look of the words wrapping around the sign. I adjusted my
alignment for all the paragraphs and then began work on the front and
back covers. I chose a white text color to show up nicely against the
red shapes used for the front and back covers. Using Adobe Illustrator
I created the eagle head logo and placed it into my design. I inserted
the top and bottom shapes as seen in the front and back covers and
adjusted to image to fit inside.

TextWrangler & Photoshop

Objectives:

Learn and become familiar with Photoshop layers, masks and

typography. Use these tools to blend images together smoothly.

Process:

I created this webpage with the program TextWrangler. I had no

previous experience with HTML or CSS. It was interesting to learn
about these programs and see the complexity of building a simple
website.
I started by taking my HTML and inserting all of my own words into
the code and linking my logo the page. Then I opened Photoshop
and use the eyedropper tools to find the codes to each of the colors
from my logo. I then took these codes and plugged them into my CSS
file to change the color of the border, heading box, and background.
I changed my fonts to the desired fonts and adjusted the size of the
section titles. I adjusted the padding between the body and headings to
be a bit bigger. I then plugged my HTML into the http://www.W3.org
HTML validator to make sure that I had no errors.

Flier
Description:

This is the flier that I have created for the Graduate leadership
Conference.

Date:

Course/Instructor:

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign

Objective:

Learn to create a flier with appropriate design principles using tools

found in InDesign. Incorperate typography and images and create a
project folder with image, logo and InDesign document.

Process:

To create this flier I used InDesign CC. In this project I used InDesigns
line and shading tools to create the bold lines and the contrast in
the title. I also used the alignment rulers and many font settings
and adjustment tools especially with the title. During this project I
demonstrated the FOCUS principles of alignment in making my flier
clean, easy to read and balanced so that the message is clear to the
audience. I also used shape to make sure that I had clear positive and
negative space and that my white space was not trapped.

Programs/Tools Used:
Adobe Illustrator

Objective:

Create a variety of logos to represent a company or personal image.

Use the basic tools of Illustrator.

Process:

This was a project that I have been excited to do. After coming up with
three ideas for a logo I took a vote on it. I choose the one most liked
and worked on detailing it. I switched the font and the font sizes. I used
a different color scheme that could be seen more at a glance. I used the
Pen tool to create the elephant head and refined the edges.
