INTRODUCTION
As is well known in all construction it is always paramount make a study of all the
factors which shall be subject to our structure, being the first soil survey as when
subjected to external loads may experience deformation; so that; if not adequately
addressed can lead to various accidents.
Soil mechanics is based on experimentation which gives us tests and procedures
to identify the various physical and mechanical properties of soil. This test is to
determine the size distribution of soil particles.
This report aims to explain the procedure for calculating the grain of soil, for which
the laboratory of the San Ignacio de Loyola University was used. For the
development of the trials it had as a reference a "Guide of Soil Mechanics
Laboratory".
Therefore granulometry tests are intended to determine quantitatively the
distribution of soil particles according to their size. The distribution of particles with
size greater than 0.075 is determined by sieving, with a set of standard mesh. For
particles smaller than 0.075 mm, its size is determined by observing the rate of
sedimentation of particles in a suspension of known density and viscosity.

PROCEDURE
First we separate a sample of 3.11 Kg which we take on the sieves were one over
another in an orderly manner according to its diameter, we shake until you can
distinguish the amount of sample on each sieve, then weigh each of these in the
that balance was calibrated every time we had to weigh the samples and collect
the following data achievement.

aggregate
we take a sample of fine aggregate and we
sieving all of them. Then we shake it until the fine aggregate fall to all the sieves,
when it process is complete we pass to measure the weight of all the content in
each sieve. With a weighing scales we get each weight then we collect this weights
to use for calculations
