SSC CGL Exams Eligibility

Staff Selection Board (SSC) has announced the recruitment for the Combined Graduate
Level Exam (CGLE) 2016 on 13th Feb 2016. The application window is open till
10th March 2016 for filling up Part I of the form and till 14th March 2016 for completing
the Part II registration. The Part II registration of the form asks for filling in the post
priority, which can not be changed after the form has been filled. To do so, it is required
that you know the posts that you are eligible for, as the form does not display your
eligible posts.
Determining the posts that you are eligible for is a complex task by just looking at the
notification. Eligibility is dependent upon several factors : Nationality, Category, Age,
Educational Qualifications and Physical requirements. What makes the process even more
complex is the fact that all these are variable over the 30 posts for which recruitment
will be held under the SSC CGLE notification 2016.

Determining the posts you are eligible to apply for in SSC CGL 2016
You should continue reading below, only if you are eligible on the basis of nationality
and you will not be below 18 years of age and have completed bachelors by 1st Aug
2016 . Please follow the process outlined below to determine the posts you are eligible
to be recruited for under the SSC CGLE 2016 notification:
1. Determine your age and Category : A table is provided below, with the Category

in the rows and range of birth date in the columns. Each cell in the table is marked
by a number. Click on the number, in the cell that matches your age and Category
to go to step 2.
2. Determine your eligible posts by education and physical standards : The table that

is displayed on clicking the number as in step 1, has Educational Qualification as

rows, and Physical Standards as Columns. And each cell lists the code of the posts
that you are eligible to apply for. Here you need to choose the cell with your
respective educational qualification and physical standard to get the complete list
of posts for which you are eligible to apply.

NOTES :
1. Education Criteria : The minimum educational criteria for eligibility is a

Bachelors Degree from a recognized University or Institute. Bachelors Degree

for this recruitment includes all degrees / diplomas / certificates including
technical education degrees / diplomas awarded through Open and Distance
learning mode of education by recognized Universities and Institutions.
2. Physical Standards Criteria : Some posts require you to be eligible by a set of

Physical standards. There are 3 such physical standards prescribed in the

recruitment notification. These are as detailed in PS 1, PS 2, and PS 3.

Step 1 : Determine your age and Category

Just click on the cell matching your age and category to go to the table providing Posts
you are eligible for on the basis of your educational qualification and physical standard.
If the cell matching your criteria is blank, then you are not eligible to apply for any of
the posts under the CGL notification. In case you are applying for relaxations under the
Ex. Serviceman category, then the range of date of birth should be taken as calculated
Date of Birth = (Actual Date of Birth plus duration of military service rendered as on
14th March 2016). For the rest of the candidates, the date of births provided below are
the actual dates.

Nationality
This is a determining criteria, and if you belong to any one of the below categories of
citizenship or nationality, then you are eligible to apply for all 30 posts subject to
fulfillment of other criteria, else, you can not apply to any of the 30 posts. The eligible
categories are as below:
1. Citizen of India, or
2. Subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
3. Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before January 1, 1962, with the
intention of permanently settling in India, or
4. A migrant from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic
of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire,
Ethiopia or Vietnam, with the intention of permanently settling in India.
NOTE : for candidates from category b, c, and d, will only be eligible if they are able to
provide a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India by the time of offer of
appointment.
