Extrinsic motivations are those that arise from the outside of the individual and often involves

rewards such trophies, money, social recognition or praise. It is also a construct that pertains
whenever activity is done in order to attain some separable outcome.
With respect to Under Cover Boss,
Brads hadan extrinsic motivation which was to make money in about 00:11:23. It can be classify
as hygiene factor according to Herzbergs two factor theory with it absent cause dissatisfaction to
mankind. Brads need the money to further his education in a month for his career.
Flirting with some women in about 00:07:47 is another extrinsic motivation that Brads had.
Flirting with woman goes with social recognition and praise at times because he will take their
numbers and go to the customers house to fix it. By doing this he is being recognized socially
and takes praise in it. This can be classify as Maslows theory of needs in the self esteem needs.
Terrell had an extrinsic motivation to make money if you want the money pick it up at about
00:14:57. Every employee needs money to buy some basic needs for survival. This can be
related to Maslows hierarchy of needs that is the physiological needs.
Again Terrell was motivated because he wanted to further his School to read Juvenile Criminal
Justice at about 00: 18:03. So he was motivated extrinsically toward achieving that goal.
Moreover, he have a daughter to take care of I had my first daughter my only at about
00:17:45 and the death of his step dad motivated him to work had because he had no one to take
of him and his family.
Accomplishing individual objective in life make or sometimes serve as a guide toward working
effectively irrespective of the nature of the job because one needs money to attain a goal in life.
This comes as a result of extrinsic motivation.

Intrinsic motivations are those that arise within the individual such as doing complicated work
purely for personal gratification of solving a problem (do something because it is inherently
interesting or enjoyable that help one grows in knowledge and skills) and it be fixed or inborn
patterns of behavior. It leads to high and quality performance. The first phenomenon of intrinsic
motivation was first acknowledge within the experimental studies of animal behavior, where it
was discovered that many organisms engage in exploratory, playful, and curiosity-driven
behaviors in absence of reinforcement or reward(White,1959).
Intrinsic motivations are as follow with respect to Under Cover Boss;

Brads had an intrinsic motivation of taking pride in helping cute women at about
00:07:58Meeting good looking people at about 00:8:53 and meeting good looking people at
about 00:8:53 made him improve upon his performance because the nature of the job is in such a
way that Brads will always meet people which makes him happy. The nature of the job was in
such a way that people comes in all the time to buy equipment and tools so Brads will always
meet people who will help him accomplish that personal satisfaction.
Terrell had an intrinsic motivation of the work itself Lets get the party started at about
00:14:07 and I like the warehouse setting at about 00:14:46 which had his performance efficient.
Loving the nature of the work helps improve performance and ones skills hence giving quality
service.
Inclusion, the Behavioral theory to some extent shows the intrinsic motivation of employees
whiles the Content theory to some extend shows how extrinsic motivation works.Specifically
operant theory (skinner, 1953) maintained that all behaviors are motivated by rewards (i.e.
separable things such as food money etc intrinsically motivated activities were said to be ones
for which the reward was in the activity itself) (Hull, 1943)
Perception
Perception is the process of selecting, organizing and interpreting information to make sense out
of the world around us.
Perception with respect to under boss true value
Lewis perceives Brad to be a bit lazy, in about 7:49 with his first encounter which is a perceptual
error that is primacy effect because Lewis thought Brad to be lazy and not knowledgeable. Lewis
later realized that Brad was knowledgeable, understood what each product was meant for in
about 11:11 and had good customer relations. Lewis also perceives Brad to be a bossy and
womanizer. Brads perceives Lewis to be a partying dude, my first impression about Lewis is, He
is a partying dude in about 07: 16. A perceptual error is noted over here as stereotyping because
Brad categorized people with tattoo and long hair as people who like partying.
Lewis perceived Terrell to be a brave despite the problems he had, he was able to recover from
all those problems and set a pedestal for himself, that is to go to school and read juvenile
criminal justice. Terrell perceived Lewis to be a fast learner after the orientation or the training;
Lewis was able to operate the folklift so Terrell said good job in about 14: 02 and also a slow
rider of the forklift just because you are old does not mean you get excuse in about 14:30. This
is a perceptual error that is stereotyping, a perceive notion that suggest all members of a
particular category share a set of characteristics.
