HENNEPIN YOUTH SPEND NIGHT ON THE STREET
SONJA PARR, YOUTH COORDINATOR
Rachel, Jordan, Nathan, Nora, Phil, Alex, Olivia, Claire, Jaidyn, and Riley all
participated in a “Night on the Street.” They made a significant impact by raising close to
$800.00 to fund a housing project for homeless youth on Nicollet square. “Night on the
Street” was attended by 32 congregations from all around the twin cities and Wisconsin.
309 young adults and 75 adults attended and raised awareness and close to $30,000 for
this worthy cause.
Each youth participated in an educational and informative discussion about homelessness and experienced what it is like
to live and sleep on the street in a box without the comfort of a warm room and a soft bed. After experiencing this night our
youth are very grateful for having a family that love them and having a place to call home.
A big “thank you” to Jean and Sean Schow, and Ilona & Grant Spencer for chaperoning and thanks to all that participated.
It not too late to contribute! Please make your check out to the Plymouth Church Neighborhood Foundation, 430 Oak
Grove Street, Suite 130 Minneapolis, MN 55403 or contact Kemi at kemiojelade@yahoo.com for more information.

HENNEPIN AND THRIVENT FINANCIAL AT HOME

PARTNER TO PRESENT FINANCE SEMINARS
Do you have financial questions but don’t know who to talk to without getting
a sales pitch? If so, Hennepin’s Finance Seminars are the place for you. Looking for an
informal, non-threatening place to discuss financial matters? Join our Legacy Giving Director
Brittany Kallman for one of Hennepin’s 2010 Finance Seminars presented by Thrivent Financial at
Home, a branch of Thrivent that offers expert financial advice in a laid-back atmosphere. We’ll have food
and drinks, get to know each other, and talk about some practical financial concepts. It’s not a sales presentation, and you
won’t have to share any personal information.
Six seminars have been scheduled at Hennepin throughout the winter and spring. They are each targeted at a different
group, understanding that at different points in our lives we have different financial needs and questions. Members and non-
members are welcome. There is no cost to attend.
If you have questions, or would like to sign up, please RSVP to Brittany Kallman at 612-435-1321 or Brittany@haumc.org.
You can also sign up at the church reception desk. Hope to see you there!
Upcoming seminars include: May 23: Empty-Nesters. June 13: GLBT Community. All of the seminars take place on
Sundays from 4:00—5:00 PM in the Longfellow Room.
