2. First week Activities

I am from poems, talk about back grounds

Other Ideas: Friday- Questions of the day
-fun life question that they can write in their journal we can discuss a few of
them then move on with class
Store note books in sidway placed bins or shelves if I have some for each
class period
Desk has a Miss Nybo only sign
Equipment will be placed underneath the desk or in plastic drawers next to
my desk
I think it might be fun to have a candy jar that says Students Only or
something so I have my side of things and then they have something that is theirs.
Prevention Strategies
1. Clear rules: Sit down in role call lines and answer the journal question that is
written on the board
2. Daily 20 points for participation, dress, promptness, and behavior
3. Noticing and Commenting on good behavior: Each term I month I want to give
every student a piece of paper with one compliment and one correction.
4. Consistent upkeep of rules
5. Open opportunities for students to ask questions such as office hours after
school or a feedback box in the back of the room
Intervention strategies
1st is a Verbal Warning (inappropriate comments, not participating, name calling,
talking, chewing gum, not having hair pulled back)
2nd is a Verbal Notification or note that says why they got a loss of Partial Points for
the day. (this is a second offense of inappropriate comments, or not participating,
not dressing, tardy) They will lose 5 points for the day
3rd is a write-up and the student will be required to come and talk to the teacher
after class or after school. (This is the third offense of the above mentioned
disruptions or 2 or more of them in one class period, NO respect for students or
teacher) Loss of all behavior and participation points for the day which is 10 points
total
4th is Authoritative Intervention- (Truant, bullying, substance abuse) Sent to the
Principals office and a call home lose all 20 points for the day.

Rules are important in for setting up a safe environment for students and teacher in
the classroom. It is an effort to bring respect for each other as we dance together.
