Executive Corporate Member

Individuals who are part- or full-time M&R professionals engaged

in work or research relating to maintaining plants and facilities and/
or pursuing research in connection with improving the science and
procedures of maintenance and reliability are invited to join SMRP
as Individual Members. These members have the right to vote at
the Annual Business Meeting, hold office and serve on the Board of
Directors.

Practitioners, defined as persons employed to apply the use of

M&R tools and methodologies in order to maintain and improve
performance of their companys assets, can collectively join
SMRP under their companys name. The Executive Membership
encompasses four packages, including Basic, Enhanced, Super and
Premium, which range in benefits based on how many employees
join SMRP.

Student

Executive Industry Partner Member

The Student membership is for individuals enrolled in a rigorous

course of study, education institution or training program applying
to the M&R function. These members are not entitled to voting
privileges, may not hold office, and may not serve on the Board of
Directors. Membership in SMRP is beneficial for students because
it exposes them to a vast network of skilled professionals who can
provide valuable insight into the M&R industry.

An Industry Partner in SMRP is a person who provides tools,

materials, methods, training and consulting to Practitioners in
the M&R fields to help practitioners maintain and improve the
performance of their companys assets. Industry Partners typically
work for equipment suppliers, training providers, colleges
and universities, companies that provide testing services, and
consultants. Like Corporate Members, Industry Partner membership
is broken out into four levels: Basic, Enhanced, Super and Premium.

CONNECT
Chapters
SMRPs chapter program began in 2006 as an effort to connect
M&R professionals and promote business connections throughout
local regions. With various workshops, conferences and plant
tours scheduled throughout the year, chapters provide low-cost
education and career development services for professionals
at every point in their career. These local organizations strive
to build leadership skills for early and mid-career professionals
and provide an avenue for professional growth with the various
chapter leadership positions.
Each chapter is unique in size, member background and industry
representation. Please visit www.smrp.org/chapters to view a
regional chapter map. If you live in an area that doesnt currently
have a chapter, the SMRP website has the necessary documents
and information to help members form their own.

Shared Interest Groups (SIGs)

Shared Interest Groups connect practitioners in specific
manufacturing industries and create a community of members
to share knowledge, experiences, industry trends and best
practices. These groups help facilitate members in the education
and achievement of world-class reliability and maintenance best
practices.
There are currently SIGs for several industries, including mining,
water and wastewater utilities, pharmaceutical and biotech,
and oil, gas, and petrochemical, but members are invited to
form additional groups. Members can start by getting 20 other
members to sign a petition that is approved by the Board of
Directors.

Membership Directory
The Membership Directory is available to all SMRP members,
allowing each member to look up the status of their membership
along with other members within in SMRP. Members can search for
their colleagues and other members by fields that include name,
organization, email and location.

Job Board
The SMRP online job board is available to all members, companies
and nonmembers seeking part-time or full-time employment
or looking to fill an open position. Individual members can
browse through available jobs or post their resume online, while
member companies can post jobs and view posted resumes from
other members. Job searches can be filtered by title, location,
description and type to help job seekers find the perfect fit.

ENGAGE
Approved Provider Education Program

CMRP of the Year Awards

The SMRP Approved Provider Education Program started in

April 2015 as a way to recognize Industry Partners who conduct
continuing education that aligns with the most relevant topics
and best practices in the industry according to the SMRP Body
of Knowledge and/or the Asset Management Landscape, which
is published by the Global Forum on Maintenance and Asset
Management (GFMAM). SMRP Approved Providers gain an
additional level of acknowledgement for their education and
training offerings, while helping practitioners feel confident they
are receiving quality training.

Every year, SMRP honors two member M&R practitioners for

their contribution to the industry and the organization. The
Rising Leader Award honors professionals with less than 10
years of experience and the Veteran Professional Award honors
those with 10 years or more of experience. Applicants are
judged on the following criteria:

SMRP evaluates Approved Provider applications based on the

following criteria:
Course content

Leadership includes notable employment positions held,

volunteer experience, knowledge sharing with peers, and
professional awards earned
Positive Effect of Accomplishments what positive impact
ones M&R accomplishments have had for an employer/
customer/client

Veterans Program

Course delivery and logistics

SMRP recognizes the unique skillset soldiers acquire while onduty servicing and operating on equipment, plus managing
operations and people. Veterans who worked as technicians
fixing and maintaining equipment on military aircraft, ships and
combat vehicles are very well qualified for jobs maintaining
equipment and production levels in manufacturing plants.

Visit www.smrp.org/approvedprovider to learn more about the

program.

Government Affairs Program

One of SMRPs goals is to amplify the reputation and awareness
of the maintenance, reliability and physical asset management
industry and SMRP as an organization with policymakers in the
U.S. Members will have ample opportunity to participate in
SMRPs government relations program. Opportunities include
authoring white papers or position papers, testifying on behalf
of a specific industry at Congressional committee hearings,
meeting with Congressional members during the SMRP Lobby
Day, and commenting on policy issues in government-focused
publications. Participation is voluntary, but SMRP encourages its
members to join the program and let their voices be heard on
Capitol Hill.

Scholarship Awards
To help promote continuing education and encourage the
next generation of M&R practitioners, SMRP offers scholarships
for students each school year. The SMRP Scholarship and
SMRPCO Dorothy and Jack Nicholas Scholarship award $2,000
to students majoring in engineering or other maintenance
focused-degrees at a four-year or two-year program. The
SMRP Higher Standards Scholarship awards $2,000 to students
that are family members of SMRP members, regardless of
concentration, who are enrolled in an accredited college or
university.
Scholarship applicants are judged on the basis of grade point
average, work experience, extra-curricular activities, leadership
activities and merit.

SMRP prides itself on helping veterans use their skills learned

overseas to translate into lasting civilian careers outside of the
military. The CMRP exam is offered to veterans at a discounted
price, and the entire cost of the exam is reimbursed by the G.I.
Bill.

SMRP Committee Involvement

Members are encouraged to join one or several of the many
committees that make up SMRP. Joining a committee gives
members additional opportunity to meet other members,
enhance their skills, and make a greater impact on the
organization through their involvement. There are over 10
committees, with each serving a specific purpose, ranging
from educational program oversight to member services and
outreach.

Sustaining Sponsors
Companies looking to get further involved in the mission of
the certification governing body, SMRP Certifying Organization
(SMRPCO), can do so through a Sustaining Sponsorship. For
just a $1,000 annual contribution, companies will receive a
multitude of benefits, including:
$205 discount for employee CMRP exams; $55 for
employee CMRT exams
Representation as a voting member on the SMRPCO
Advisory Council
Access to the network of over 50 other Sustaining Sponsor
companies
